The Xbox 360 is one of the best videogame systems in the world, I think and it currently has some very cool games that are about to come out like Halo 3. Gears of War is another cool game that just came out, it thrusts you into a deep and harrowing story of humankind’s epic battle for survival against the Locust Horde. Feel free to talk about anything related to the Xbox 360 in this thread. :)

I've had mine for about 10 months and love it although it hasn't stopped the PC being my main gaming machine. I'm currently playing The Godfather which is one of the best games I've ever played! For a console game it has huge playability. I think its possible to become Don of NY is like 40 hours but if you take your time, like me, there are easily and 100+ hrs of gameplay here!

It's like GTA so you have a big city to explore and do things in your own time like take over businesses, carry out hits, there's a storyline you follow becoming part of the Corleone family and you are involved in many of the scenes from the movie. For instance the scene when the movie Director wakes up to find his beloved horses head in his bed .... you are one of the two man team to take the head to his room! Its great to drive around the streets of NYC (which is split into Little Italy, Midtown, Brooklyn, Hells Kitchen as well as a couple of other areas I haven't really delved into yet). Lots of action, blood and cash!! :)

Anyway it's kept me off Double Agent and Saints Row which I got about the sametime but have hardly played yet!

Negative, I personaly think Sony is a big rip off with all their gay ass games. The only game that really is always a big hit for Playstation is the Final Fantasy games! The Xbox original and Xbox 360 are way better systems then the PS3!

Yeah man the Xbox 360 is going to sell way more then the PS3 since the PS3 is ridiculously expensive. Plus the 360 is going to release one of their best games next year, Halo 3. This game is going to make Sony bankrupt in it's first day of release, just watch!

Well the PS3 also has great graphics even though i'm not a fan of Sony but for me its not so much about the graphics as the games. I'm not bothered who has slightly better graphics but what quality the games are. 90% of the games released on the 360 so far I've loved. I know that 90% of the games on the PS3 I'll hate!

I don't like Japanese games (well very few of them) as I don't like the graphics or style of the games. I've always hated the Final Fantasy games and I think Japanese RPG's suck big time. I owned a PSone and did quite like it as there weren't too many consoles to give it much competition. I owned a PS2 (only because someone gave it to me) and thought it was a terrible console although I had my Xbox then. The only Japanese games I can remember liking was Metal Gear Solid 2 but Splinter Cell blew that series away and Gran Turismo.

There have been a few Japanese games released on the 360 recently (much to my dismay) and I tried a demo of 99 Nights which is one of the worst games I've ever had the misfortune to play and Enchanted Arms which I steered well clear of! I think Lost Planet may be a Japanese games (judging by the graphics of the characters) and I did rather enjoy that but have only played the demo.

I'll not be bothering with the grossly overpriced PS3 and won't be upgrading my 360 with any DVD drives as I have a DVD player for that and am not interested in new formats like blue ray. As long as they still produce DVD's i'll be sticking with them :rolleyes: As long as its not needed to play game sin the future I'll be avoiding it for as long as possible. Just another way to rip off the consumer!

The "connection" people are talking about is an external cooling system you can buy and connect to your 360 but it's not needed. I don't have one and have never had any problems but it depends if you play it 24/7 ;)

I'm ready for a lot of games coming out this year. Halo, Mass Effect, the Darkness, Medal of Honor Airbourne, Alone in the Dark, Army of Two, Forza 2, Bioshock, Alan Wake, Assassins Creed, Brothers in Arms 3, GTA 4, Turok, Fable 2 and Jericho. It's gonna be a good year!

I recently bought Test Drive and Dead Rising in a deal and both were good and also got Star Trek Legacy and Fifa 07 off Ebay quite cheap.

My gamertag is Gavmundo by the way but I'm not online that often as my Xbox isn't close to my PC so have to connect seperately. I only play Live with people I know. I'm more of a PC gamer to be honest.

Yeah that's the connection someone told me about, thanks for the info man. So it's only necessary if you play the game a lot, ok thanks! Before Xmas it was announced the Halo movie was on hold because the people funding the movie had pulled out over some argument. The movie is now on hold until new backers can be found if that ever happens. It's a big budget! The general opinion seems to be it's on hold "indefinately"

Interesting that. I agree the 360 shots are slightly better but think both consoles have been over-hyped. There's a lot of marketing goes into these games and think we tend to expect a lot more than we get. I won't be getting a PS3. I'm happy enough with my 360 and don't think the PS3 is any better though I still prefer my PC.

I'll be getting a PS3, Sony is always known to create a far more complex console than Microsoft, meaning, games will keep improving on gameplay/graphics because the devs have alot more freedom and don't have to follow Microsoft guidelines, which are very good, but not like the PS3.

Comparing the consoles on just one game is simply not enough, on paper the PS3 is a more powerful console and just like the PS2 and PSX, the games later on were far better looking than the ones brought out with the launch.

Plus I like the PS3 exlusives: Final Fantasy, Metal Gear Solid, GTA and perhaps a new God of War for the PS3.

Fair enough Gav, your right it's all down to personal taste and it is a never ending discussion between Sony and Microsoft fans really. I like both consoles, but prefer the Japanese games like Final Fantasy ( which I personally think is one of the best gaming series ever ), MGS and RE which is why I favor the PS.

Anyways, let's be glad we have the luxury to choose from multiple consoles and the competition will only improve both companies to come up with something better :)

This is true if the two companies weren't waging constant war we might not see many new consoles with new ideas. I'd hate to pay for two consoles though. One is enough for me and I wasn't happy paying for that. I didn't get my 360 till about 4 or 5 months after release. I got a deal with 4 games for almost £400 which wasn't bad considering they were 4 new games but it's still a lot to pay and the PS3 is going to be even more expensive....

The problem with the new PS3 is that it's to expensive, no matter what they add or make better the prices are just to crazy. During the month of December the X-Box 360 consoles and the Wii's were getting sold like crazy. That's because the prices were more affordable and because there were more systems delivered to the US. Sony made a bad move by shipping only a few 100,000 systems to the US. People started going crazy over those things. In my opinion the 360 beats every system that is currently out there.

I'm glad the 360 Frenzy is over. Most people couldn't get their hands on one (as usual) I know people who have pre-ordered at three different places and couldn't get hold of one at either lol. I got mine after the craziness had died down and I also wanted a deal with games included and you don't tend to get that for a while.

I'm glad i'm not interested in the PS3 because I can laugh at all the peeps who are getting stressed because they can't get one :lol:

Hey by the way I've been reading many game magazines and they are predicting that the year of 2007 can be one of the best years for gammers. Just look at all the great games that will come out this year, Halo 3, Grand Theft Auto 4, Super Smash Brothers Brawl and many more! Exciting year ahead if you ask me! :)

Oh yea there are loads of great games coming out this year. Mass Effect and Assassins Creed are top of my list at the moment as well as Halo 3 and quite a few more. There's a new RPG out soon called Two worlds. I saw some screenies the other day and it looks beautiful!

I side with PS3. It's design is amazing. Expensive? Why? It already come with High Definition Capability. In 360, you have to shell out another $200. If you dont own a HDTV then it's no problem but soon you will have this problem. Sony had Intel make a special chip especifically for the PS3 man. Quality doesnt come cheap. 360 has a year advantage on games so obviously they will have a better selection. Give it another year and watch out! Plus bluetooth controllers(no need for batteries), you can turn on/off system with controller, you can use your bluetooth headset you already have for your cell phone with the ps3 for online play. Man!!!!!..........I can continue but....Ill wait and see what you guys have to say.

First of all you don't need that cooling system, it's only recomended if you put the XBox 360 in a non-ventelated area! Also the XBox has a greater selection of games people want like Halo 3, the Gears of War game plus all those racing games which look sweet with the graphics the XBox has to offer! XBox good, PS3 garbage! :)

Er you can start the 360 from the controller!? Xbox controllers have always been better than PS which are far too small and look horrible. The 360 controller is the best! I have to say I still prefer my PC to any console and that won't chance anytime soon but the 360 is an entertainment system not just a games console. You can link it to your PC and transfer songs, vids etc and it's a DVD player so there's more to it than just gaming and don't forget live. PS fails miserably in that dept.

As for the look pf the games there's no difference between the PS3 and the 360. Little difference anyway. The 360 is marginally better but a lot of the screen that were shown for the PS3 before it's launch were all doctored. When you compare the PS3 and 360 screenshots there is little difference between them. I have no problem on anyone wanting to get a PS3 if you like the system then fair enough but I'll never get one and I won't have anyone saying it's better than the 360 which is simply not true ;)

Yea I know most consoles have DVD players and that's my point. It was said that a 360 is just a games console where a PS3 is an entertainment system but there's little difference. Both consoles are entertainment systems. You can get allsorts of addons for the 360 if you really want it. I think people who buy blu-ray or HD-DVD's are just stupid. You're paying stupid prices for the movies and they aren't worth it. A guy at work bought Robin Prince of Thieves the other day and it cost him £25 for a movie you can get on DVD for £3 ... come on that improved quality isn't worth that much! I won't be forking out any extra for these addons. They're just fashion items for blokes :lol: Pathetic! Another point regarding having to fork out extra for the HD-DVD for the 360 ... um well the PS3 is almost twice as much :rolleyes:

Well I've seen PS3 games that aren't on the 350 like Killzone for the PS3 and the graphics look nowhere near as good as say Gears of War... here's a screen from IGN for PS3's Killzone.....

I'm sure it will be successful in the long run but the 360 is already massively successful (unless you live in Asia lol). about time M$ brought out their next model ;)

PS3's potential will be taken advantage of very soon. Mark my words. Another thing ps3 has over xjunk 360 is that is has like 4 different slots for memory cards n stuff. You can view you items from camcorders / cameras / cellphones etc. Lil things like that make ps3 the perfect system for anything not just gaming.

In Europe, the prices are higer than america i think for some. isnt an xbox 400$ or did r u talking about the degraded one which has absolutely nothing. The optional hd dvd for now is just optional soon it will be a requirement when game makers turn to hd-dvd since games are going to get larger.

The European launch of the PlayStation 3 has been met by both cheers and indifference across the continent.
London saw the biggest turnout and all those that turned up for the midnight event also got a free HD TV to go with their new console.

But in France, Germany and many other places crowds of keen gamers were conspicuous by their absence.

In both London and France Microsoft mounted publicity stunts to rub some of the gloss off Sony's launch events.

At the Virgin Megastore in London's Oxford Street, the software giant handed out chairs to those queuing that had a website address printed on them.

Anyone visiting the webpage saw an Xbox 360 branded site that "welcomes" Sony to the next generation and chides the electronics giant for being "late". Microsoft's Xbox 360 launched in late 2005.

In other European nations the response to the launch of the PS3 was more mixed.

In France several stores stayed open until midnight so gamers could pick up a PlayStation but few people took the opportunity to grab one.

Game news site Next Gen reported that French gamers were outnumbered by the media on the boat Sony moored by the Eiffel tower to act as a temporary electronics store selling the console.

The event was upstaged by Microsoft which drove its own boat covered in Xbox 360 logos up and down the Seine near the Sony craft.

In Amsterdam only a "handful" of gamers turned up to pick up a console.

One of the better attended events seems to have been in Prague in the Czech republic where more than 100 gamers queued for the chance to buy a PS3 soon after midnight.

In Sydney Sony and retailer Myer staged a launch event at which customers were also outnumbered by the media. Danny Zarka, the first Australian PS3 owner, was at the front of the queue despite only turning up after 9PM.

About 80 customers turned up for the midnight launch and the Sydney Morning Herald called it "feeble".

The London HD TV giveaway is thought to have cost Sony more than £250,000. It also provided free taxis to get people home safely.

It comes just days after rival Sony completed its launch of the high definition capable PlayStation 3 (PS3).

The premium version of the PS3 costs £425 (599 Euros) in the UK and comes with a 60GB hard drive. It also contains a high definition Blu-ray player and an HDMI port, necessary to connect the console to high definition TVs and display games in their full graphical glory.

However, both premium and basic versions do not come with an HDMI cable to connect the console to a display.

In contrast, Microsoft has said it will include the necessary cables with its Elite machine. But users will have to pay extra for a high definition HD-DVD player, currently costing £129.99 in the UK.

"With a separate drive, the cost is very similar to the PS3," said Paul O'Donovan, principal analyst at research firm Gartner.

Both machines allow users to download content such as game extras, images and video to the hard drives.

PlayStation users can use the PlayStation Network, while Microsoft runs the Xbox LIVE online service.

The companies move into offering downloads straight to the living room also puts them into competition with the likes of Apple, who launched its Apple TV box to stream content downloaded from iTunes to a TV screen.

"Apple TV is a great way to move content," said Mr O Donovan. "So this maybe a response to the Apple TV rather than the PS3."

It also pits them against other systems and services capable of downloading and storing film and TV such as Tivo and Sky Plus.

Both companies have been criticised in the past for the relatively small capacity of the hard drives offered with their machines. Large capacity discs are essential if the machines are to be used as a home media hub.

Microsoft said its new offering was in response to customer demand.

"Today's games and entertainment enthusiast has an insatiable appetite for digital high-definition content," said Peter Moore, corporate vice president for Microsoft's games division.

Game focus

The hard drive on the new Xbox machine is six times bigger than the current high-end Xbox, allowing users to download more content and at higher definition.

Sony has said it has no plans to increase the size of internal hard drives, but users can add extra space by attaching an external hard drive.

Microsoft has said it will sell the Elite alongside existing Xbox 360 systems and it will offer the detachable 120GB hard drive for $179.99 (£90).

Earlier this year Microsoft also announced plans for a version of the console capable of being used as a set-top box for Internet Protocol TV, or IPTV.

This would allow the console to tap into offerings from telecoms and cable TV companies to pipe high-definition movies and television into homes.

However people like Mr O'Donovan believe that these features will not be enough to sway gamers to buy one system over another.

"Gamers buy these consoles to play games. Everything else is a bonus," he said.

Mtroyo i am sorry to say that EA cant do that. They cant add more leagues or creat a club, or career mode because the XBOx360 dvds just dont have enough room for them to do that. 360 is still 4.7 gb dvds i believe while Blurays are 25 gigs, more than 5 times the size.

Not exactly like Drito pointed out but it does make me shake my head because MS are a bunch of hypocrites for saying that HDMI output was never needed and they bashed Sony for providing it but yet they now come out and make another console that includes it plus on top of that they said an hd-dvd player was a choice for the consumers (although the way the lastest sales have gone that format might be dead soon) thats why they didn't include it on the original system making fun of Sony for having a built in blu-ray player in every one of their consoles. But this wont matter cause the hd-dvd used in the Elite console is just for movies and they cant change the disc format for the console since many people already have the originals that cant use that format as a standard and how does MS justify making people pay $200 for the hd-dvd add on player yet now they are selling it built in the elite system? or that they sold the 20gb harddrive for $100 all this time and now they come out with a 120gb one for the same price? (another big disadvanatage over the PS3 since on that system you can use any external harddrive no matter the size or brand) it just doesnt make any sense if you ask me... this looks like a complete panic move by MS cause they are now realizing that blu-ray is about to win the media format battle and in the next few years games will only get larger which will be a disadvantage to them since they are stuck with a standard DVD9 disc. I just hope MS supports the 360 for at least 5 years and not abandoned it like the original Xbox, but with moves like these it makes you wonder if they are taking the console gaming business like the PC where they keep coming out with upgrades and make some new Xbox 720 in a couple years time. As a person who bought the original "premium system" i feel ripped off that they didnt provide this stuff at the start i mean why all of the sudden come out with stuff that should have been in the original? this just ticks me off cause it seems like MS is making the system look like the PS3 black color, bigger harddrive and hdmi basically saying we screwed up the launch console and here you go now we can come out with a better one.

Yea had a look at the recent vids from E3 and it looks nice. I wasn't that impressed with San Andreas. I found it difficult to relate to the Gang Homeboys! I much preferred the Mafioso style character from Vice City. The character from IV is Croatian apparently :lol:

Vice City. I've played them since the first came out years ago on the Amiga (in the days when it was a 2D game). I like Vice City because of the Mob storyline and loved the 80's music :lol: San Andreas was an improvement in game mechanics but I found it hard to relate to the character I was playing. Lokking forward to IV though.

Have you played the Halo series?

I played the 1st one on PC and it was enjoyable, but felt a little overated when you put it next to Half Life 2. I still haven't got 3 though, but I seem to prefer more realistic shooters, like in CoD soldiers don't have some crazy shields. I prefer Gears which is fun but still takes too many bullets from a lancer imo to go down.

Over the weekend I have enough cash to get 1 game and I'm trying to decide between WaW and Gears 2. Both are £35 Zavvi plus I get 10%. I'm so confused Gears has got great reviews from most respected game sites, WaW is still being reviewed but some small sites have given it good ratings. btw CoD 4 has to be my fav game on the 360 so far (even if it is multiplat).

Help me out salt and fries, Fable 2 or wait for Prince of Persia which looks epic. I'll probably wait for some more reviews, but I think both got 8 in OXM.

I ended up getting Gears 2 last time which was pure awesome. I've finished it and I'm now doing some co op with some buds. It's a bit short but the main campaign is superb. In multiplayer it takes ages to get a game though.

Gears 2 is fabulous. I really noticed the change in graphics and in handling guns, plus there are more than 10 different new types of enemies and plenty of vehicles. Multiplayer is a blast. I have no clue how Prince of Persia would end up. I have high expectations for it as well, and I really lik the art style of graphics. Fable 2 got rave reviews all over the place - 90% average from 86 different reviews, a couple of 10/10 also, notably from Eurogamer, so it's a confirmed top notch game, I have it at the moment, but I didn't play it much, because I want to finish other games first. My guess is, wait for Prince of Persia reviews, if they will be dissapointing then get Fable 2 first, finish it and then trade it for Prince of Persia.
