The stereotype of South and Central American's being unable to adapt to Scottish weather is obviously ignored by the players currently plying their trade in Scotland.

1st off, it's away to Dundee United to look at Trinidad & Tobago's Colin Samuel. Samuel, who has previously had trials with Everton, is in his 3rd season at Tannadice and has yet to show the form he had at Falkirk which earned him his Goodison trial. With only 9 goals to his name since arriving at United at appears that Collin is a player who thrives on confidence. As United have been struggling since his arrival, the exciting runs that he made his name with at Falkirk have all but disappeared as have his 1st team starts. Maybe a move back down to the 1st division, where he was one of the best players in the league, would be an apt move. However an extension of his contract 'til 2007 recently, will probably prevent that.

Meanwhile. T+T legend Russell Latapy is still enjoying life and football at Falkirk and is the lynchpin of any of Falkirk's trademark attractive football. He recently scored a late equaliser in Monday night's live game against troubled Heart of Midlothian. Despite his age and fondness for booze and fags, Latapy is helping to educate some of Falkirks younger players and is still capable of some brilliant touches and passing.

Now, while these updates are normally resigned to the SPL, it would be unfair to ignore one of Scotland's cult heros. Namely, Trinidad + Tobago and St Johnstone striker Jason Scotland. With 5 league goals this season plus another 5 in cups, not to mention playing in St Johnstone's shock 2-0 win away to Glasgow Rangers and being one of the favourites to win the 1st division title, it's safe to say that, should his work permit ever run out again, he'll be guaranteed to have it renewed this time!!

Back in the SPL Chile's Mauricio Pinilla made a bright start to his career at Hearts, firmly cementing himself with the fans. His ball control and unselfish running quickly won over admirers. However, a niggling injury has kept him out the team in recent weeks and although he was set to return (if Chairman Romanov lets him.....) an injury picked up in Chile's win against Paraguay looks set to sideline him for a while longer...
