Luke Chadwick has sealed a switch to Norwich City.
The winger has joined the Canaries on an emergency loan deal, which is likely to be made permanent when the transfer window re-opens in January.
Chadwick, 25, wanted a move to Carrow Road to be closer to his family base in Cambridge and insists he's departing the Britannia Stadium on excellent terms.
Explains Luke: "I wish Stoke City all the best because the club has been fantastic to me since I joined.
"I can't thank them enough for their understanding. They know my desire to leave was nothing to do with them and I just hope the fans also understand that.
"The team is doing great at the moment and I would have loved to have been part of what promises to be a bright future for the club.
"However, I have to put my family first. My wife and children moved back to Cambridge at the end of last season and I've got to say it's been a struggle for me doing all the travelling.
"I've got to admit my performances in training and in matches have been up and down because the travelling and upset has taken its toll."
City boss Tony Pulis admits he didn't want to lose a player of the former Manchester United star's calibre, but couldn't stand in his way, adding: "I'm disappointed to be losing a smashing member of the squad like Luke, but I understand his reasons and the club is doing the right thing by him in the circumstances.
"We looked into all the reason for his failure to finish so many matches this season, but maybe the real explanation was all his travelling and the distraction of his family."
Chadwick made 51 appearances and scored six goals for the Potters since penning a permanent deal at the Britannia Stadium in January 2006 following an impressive six-month loan spell.
His last goal in City colours ironically came during a 5-0 victory over Norwich last month.
