Chelsea have their work cut out for them this season. I'm convinced Utd will win it and am not alone. Even Chelsea old Boy Vialli reckons it's Utd's this season. I was dissapointed we didn't beat Chelsea at OT as we were far the better team but shot ourselves in the foot by trying to defend our lead. Chelsea haven't been very impressive so far this season but it should be an exciting race.

Drogba's goal was soooooooo lucky  as were chelsea. They aren't playing well at the moment and were lucky to get a win on Sunday. They looked dead and buried when Everton were 2-1 up but Everton panicked and lost the game. A team like Chelsea shouldn't be conceding 2 goals at home. They are relying on luck at the moment but that won't last forever.

Course Utd's luck deserted them against West Ham. We controlled the game and had over TWENTY chances but couldn't even score one. Saha should have had a hatrick if it wasn't for Green, the Hammers keeper who was excellent. We should easily have won that game but seems the luck deserted us on the day. We are still in the driving seat though and there's a long way to go.

Chelsea are clearly still panicking. They wouldn't need to talk up their chances of winning the league so much if they were confident of winning it

If we were panicking we'd be more verbal like Chelsea. Mourinho feels the need to say they are going to win it like everyday. To start with that shows how fearful he is of losing it. Another reason is to take the media attention away from his team and another reason is because he's so in love with himself he needs the media attention! Fergie doesn't feel the need to claim anything regarding the premiership as there's no pressure on us. Chelsea have been favourites since the start of the season so there's more pressure on Chelsea to win that us to lose.

If they don't beat Wigan there's definately something wrong

Chelsea are only just scraping wins at the moment. The win is the most important thing but they are not playing well. They should be beating the likes over Everton and Newcastle by more than one goal so they are playing on luck at the moment. Not impressive at all.

Heh u're only saying that b/c u're in denial over Chelsea ablility to snatch the premier league yet again for another year to make it three years in a row

Sure Mourinho talks about winning everyday thats b/c he's confident Chelsea is gonna do it this season too. Only confident people would talk like that while Fergie is just keeping quite because he's not sure anymore of MU chances :D Sure the pressure is more on Chelsea but they thrive on pressure like the always did for the past two seasons.

How can u say they were not impressive...that Drogba goals againts Everton the other day was just simply amazing :p

First off Chelsea are a million miles away from achieving what both Man U and Liverpool have done it the top division. Man U were the team of the 90's and are the only team to have three back to back titles in the Prem so we're not letting Chelsea equal that!!

Fergie doesn't talk Man U chances up because there is no need to. Arsene Wenger will tell you that. He once claimed their team will remain unbeaten all season and claim the premiership crown and we overhauled their ten point lead to win the title so its bad luck to claim you will win it. And constantly talking about it is only showing how nervous you are. He's trying to influence his team by doing this because he needs to in their position.

Fergie has won a lot of titles and has never found the need to say that they will definately win the title ... ever. Fergie is far more successful that Mourinho so I think he knows best!

As for supporting Chelsea. How can you support more than one team? for me there is only Manchester United. I don't support any other team in any other league. I can't see how anyone can like more than one team? doesn't make any sense to me. I watch a lot of foreign football but never support anyone (unless they are playing against a rival team). There should only ever be one team in your heart. There isn't enough room for anyone else if you are a true fan!

As for liking a team because a fave player leaves ... for me if a player asks to leave your club he doesn't deserve any respect. Beckham was one of my favourite players at Man U until he left then I lost all respect for him. He's still a favourite if he ever plays in an England shirt but in a Real Madrid shirt he's the enemy. I also loved Nistlerooy but now he's a figure of hate! Two of my favourite player leave and join Real Madrid ... do I support Real?? No I hate them even more!

Ballack didn't even allow your club to get a transfer fee for him. He hung on so he could leave for free. That was a kick in the face to your club and all its fans and you still love him? You are clearly insane

I already said I don't. I hate Real!! I dislike both Becks and RVN for leaving Utd for Real. I think that is the normal thing to do. The first thing is ALWAYS your club. Never any player who plays/played for them. The celebrity star status of players these days is changing that (for the worse). Some people follow players before their team which is wrong! The team is ALL that matters!

Well you got the Chelsea score right

Chelsea re leaking too many goals at the moment. I didn't think Terry being out would be a huge problem for a club like Chelsea but it is. A dodgy defence and with the luck going against them for once (told you it would run out) has cost them 2 points and gained Man U a 4 point lead. Chelsea will leak a lot more goals before the end of the season.

I found Lampard's comments thatChelsea are not taking any notice of what Man U are doing. Funny that seeing as just about every comment from Stamford Bridge in the last few weeks has involved Manchester United  Mourinho's comments that Chelsea would be top by Xmas backfired on him too. Seems he needs to learn the hard way about keeping his mouth shut :)

well technically the scond goal was an own goal so terry has nothing to do with it. I think if Man Utd would loose c. ronaldo they would just crumble. hes like your main player.

Gavmundo
12-28-2006, 01:01 AM
You mean like Chelsea seem to be crumbling without Terry? ;) Ronaldo is important to us but we're not a one man team. He doesn't score every game, he doesn't setup every goal so he's not as important as a Beckham was for us in the 90's.

 i'm actually getting worried about Chelsea defence right now & will minimize my comments esp since Terry is out for 3 months..... We'll see how it goes in their next game againts Fulham. I hope Drogba will be in top forms & score goals!! Its gonna be tough to catch MU now who's playing reading but not impossible!

Gavmundo
12-29-2006, 04:04 PM
What do you think about Mourinho saying he might employ Drogba as a defender? I think he's very good at winding people up

Nah not impossible at all there are still plenty of games that both sides can lose and we still have to play at Stamford Bridge so its still wide open at the moment.
I still think we'll win it as I haven't been impressed with chelsea at all so far. They have won plenty of games but haven't performed as well as previous seasons. They're leaking too many goals.

shevafan
12-29-2006, 08:24 PM
lately i have noticed that they arent performing to the level required. i think the main reason is mourinho. hes too strategical. every game they play he takes of players and makes his "tacticall changes". which i think doesnt work a lot. even if a player isnt performing on the field you should still leave him on, give him some more time. if you take a player like shevchenko off every game around the 60th minute you are constantly decreasing his momentum and he will understand that the coach isnt trusting him. and that doesnt work with sheva because he was always trusted by his coaches by lobanovsky in dynamo or by ancelloti in ac milan. even when he scored in chelsea mourinho still took him off. why? why not let him score another if he can. that will just increase his momentum.

now about the reading match. i think it was a little lucky for reading this time cause if you look at the stats they had one shot on target and 2 goals:lol: .

Gavmundo
12-30-2006, 04:02 AM
Well he does have a very large squad and it's logical that with such a large squad you need to rotate it a lot. Not only to keep players happy but to keep players fresh but so much rotation can cause prooblem as players don't have a settled team. Chelsea are still a big threat and anything can happen before the end of the season but it's quite clear that Chelsea aren't playing THAT well. They are winning most of their games which is all that is required but I don't think last season's Chelsea would have performed like this seasons Chelsea. You rarely saw the goalie troubled in the Premiership last season. This season (despite Cech being out injured) the goalie is a lot more active which suggests the defence isn't as tight.

Anyway we'll have to see what is what at the end of the season. There's a long way to go yet and a lot of big matches.

Right now im really dissapointed. The aston Villa game was horrible. im finally seeing english footbal for what it really is. school yard bull shit. i mean pass the ball around!. 75% of the time when the ball is in chelsea's side of the field and chelsea get it they just freaking launch it out of there. pass it around a little bit. Its like there is no coach. the only ones that have some creativity in their defending are carvalho and cole. also i dont want to be rascist but i think everyone has noticed that essien, mikel, drogba and kaloe only pass to each other. drogba a little less. and when they dont see any of their buddys open they just go for it. Lampard and shevchenko barely get the ball from those 3. whenever lampard gets the ball he usually goes for it or tryes to find sheva or drogs, but mainly goes for it cause knows that he wont get the ball back. i just dont see the team spirit here, maybe because terry isnt here, but for the last 3 games mourinho has done absolutely nothing in improving his team. shaun wright phillips also is doing nothing. i would hope they would trade him for a "brazilian" to give atleast some creativity to their game cause right now there is very little.

Some quotes from the villa match from the chelsea website.

"Essien scampered on one weaving run past several challenges, but with Shevchenko in space on the right screaming for a pass tried a chip and was too high."

"With a minute remaining, Lampard turnedon Drogba's flick from Geremi's long throw but shot over the bar. It was Chelsea's 15th shot off-target. There had been only two on."

That was the crap side of football tonight...

Ricardo Carvalho should have won an Academy Award for his fake injury during Chelsea against Villa tonight. Gavin McCann totally missed him yet Carvalho rolled around in agony until McCann starting freaking out that he was acting.

Ricardo is a regular Tom Cruise. History shows that while he is an excellent defender, he is also a professional actor. Mourinho was still singing his praises at the end of the game though.

Chelsea looked flat and with the exception of Drogba and Lampard they did not offer much in attack and really seem to be feeling the effects of their growing injury list

Yea but you expect these teams to drop a few points against middle of the table opposition. Top teams tend to play well against the main rivals but then drop points in games they are expected to win. In recent seasons Chelsea had shown that they could overcome this but they haven't been that impressive this season so think both teams will drop a few more points to draws such as Aston Villa and Newcastle. The pressure is on now so time for these top two to show their character. I still can't see them dropping enough points for either Liverpool or Arsenal to catch them.

@Gavmundo - yeah Chelsea will overcome this like they did the last time... they just need to workout some new defence since Terry is out. Even with MU in their top form while Chelsea struggling with many injuries both teams just draw with the likes of Aston Villa & Newcastle. That means MU is still beatable ;)

Well that's what a forum is all about... to air the views from all sides ;) You're welcome to come to the Utd forum :)

You're right that Utd aren't unbeatable but we're 6 points ahead so in pole position. anything can happen though. Arsenal are on the best form of anyone at the moment in my opinion. They tore an on form Liverpool side to pieces at anfield in the FA Cup yesterday so they will be tough to beat. There's a long way to go.

Mourinho is trying the mind games now saying that Utd should be in an unassailable position now and it will cost them in the long run. He's saying this to try and cover the fact that Chelsea have been very disappointing and can't seem to catch Utd even when we drop points. That's amusing to watch

Yeah kinda suprised with Arsenal winning over Liverpool :faint2: i have given hope over Arsenal suddenly they bounce back woah!!!!
Btw, Chelsea have a big win for the FA cup with 6 goals againsts Macclesfield Town 1 .... Lampard is certainly man of the game with those wonderful goals while Shevchenko should have been put on the bench for all the stupid missed chances that he blew away. MU wins too big deal 2:1 over Aston Villa meh it should have been more goals

You had a good team out but these games against lower opposition are always potential banana skins. Going to be an interesting weekend with the top four all in action against each other! Chelsea play n Sat so if they win Man U know what they have to do. If Chelsea lose then we can afford to lose or draw although I don't want that. I want revenge for Arsenal's win at OT. Arsenal have become bigger rivals than Liverpool in recent seasons! Arsenal are playing very good football at the moment so we'll have to play very well to get a result. Liverpool aren't playing well against the bigger teams so I expect a Chelsea win although you never know....

The media is full of stories of Mourinho never really wanting Sheva and it being a decision taken long before he moved to Chelsea. That may just be media rumours but they all start somewhere. This was a good game.... Arsenal tried their best but still Chelsea is better  . Peter chec did terrific jobs at saving more goals from the young gunners. Totally impressed with these young players of arsenal.

Drogba 2 amazing goals was totally deserving for him to be man of the match. Except for that stupid incident during the extra time with 3 players given red cards it was really an entertaining match. I can't believe Lampard was involved wid it rather silly fight hahaha. Congratulations to Chelsea & the whole team!!! Hope they keep their spirit high to the next games and catch MU with the 9points difference now!!

Gavmundo
02-26-2007, 12:26 PM
To be honest I thought Arsenal were better over the 90 nins and they had their youth team out there... course Arsenal's youth team is a lot better than most teams first team

I think the difference came towards the end of the game where the youngsters started getting tired and suddenly a bad pass from Arsenal led to the winner. The bust up at the end was the most entertaining part of the match  Think a couple of player might have their yellow's upgraded to red after the TV evidence comes into play.

I didn't want either team to win so I'm a neutral. I think Arsenal can hold their heads up high as it was a very even game but Drogba's class showed in the end. If Henry has been playing it may have been a difference story...

hehe chelsea champs. they were the best. two nice goals from drogba. Lampard had a very good shot and hit the crossbar. Shevchenko also hit the corner crossbar/post. overall chelsea outclassed arsenal. and by the way arsenal wasnt fulley youngsters. they had some people like fabregas and then toure i think. i hate arsenal for the terry incident. im not say that the arsenal did it on purpose but i mean GET YOUR HEAD IN THE GAME!!! you could kill someone with that sort of kick in the head. thank God hes alright. Overall very good match.

Nick G
02-26-2007, 11:31 PM
and by the way arsenal wasnt fulley youngsters. they had some people like fabregas

Fabregas is only 19 actually. Toure and Baptista were the only two outfield players who weren`t teenagers or 20-21 years old. Walcott (who scored a class goal) is 17, Denilson is only 18 I think, Traore 17, Hoyte 20, Diaby 19 or 20 etc etc..If these players stay together I don`t think there is a limit to what they can achieve.

Gavmundo
02-27-2007, 11:52 AM
Yea Fabregas is a first team regular but he's still a youngster. Arsenal have a very good crop of young players. Walcott, Denilson, Traore, Hoyte, Tiaby etc aren't first team players. They have played in the first team at times but are not regulars whereas Chelsea played a full first team.

As for the Terry injury yes it was terrible but not the defenders fault. It was Terry that put his head in. It was a beave decision but the Defender was perfectly right to stick a foot out like that. Terry took the responsibility in going for the ball, something not many players would be brave enough to do.

Just a few age stats =)
Arsenal
Almunia - 29
Hoyte - 22
Toure - 25
Senderos - 22
Traore - 17
Eboue (came on the 66th minute for Traore) - 23
Denilson - 19
Fabregas - 19
Walcott - 17
Baptista - 25
Diabi - 20
Hleb (came on the 68th minute for Diabi) - 25
Aliadiere - 23
Adebayor - (came on the 80th minute for Aliadiere) - 23

Arsenal had an avarage age (to the second decimal point) of 22.07
The highest age was 29 and the lowest was 17.

Chelsea
Cech - 24
Diarra - 21
Carvalho - 28
Terry - 26
Mikel (came on the 62nd minute for Terry) - 19
Bridge - 26
Makelele - 36
Robben (came on at half time for Makelele) - 23
Essien - 24
Lampard - 28
Ballack - 30
Shevchenko - 30
Kalou - (came on the 98th minute for Shevchenko) - 21
Drogba - 28

Chelsea had an avarage age of 26 (exact)
The highest age was 36 and the lowest was 19.

26 - 22.07 = 3.93
Which states that the Chelsea squad was 3.93 years older than the Arsenal team.

A bit of information for you then.

Hoyte
Traore
Denilson
Eboue
Walcott
Baptista
Diabi
Aliadiere

None of these are first team regulars and very few have started a game all season. With the exception of Diarra and maybe Bridge the rest of the Chelsea team was the first team. Over half of the Arsenal team were backup players/reserves yet they still managed to outplay Chelsea for most of the match.

I will say that I was proud of how the Spurs played in the first game even though it ended poorly. At half-time I thought we were going to kill Chelsea (3-1), but we couldn't contain Chelsea when they put in 8 strikers! haha.

Last time Chelsea and Tottenham met up at White Heart, Tottenham won, and I believe we are a better team then we were back then, even without Paul Robinson. We are on a scoring frenzy and if we learn how to tighten up the defense, then I wouldn't be suprised at all if we pulled off the "upset".

I predict the score to be 3-1 SPURS!!!

But with Shevchenko & Ballack finally found their form in Chelsea i think we have nothing to worry about. We also have Drogba the current EPL top scorer. Right now tho i'm more concern with the replay with Spurs for the FA Cup. They gotta do better than the one they did at Stamford Bridge. Go Chelsea!!!

C'mone Spurs ;)

Well the Title is in Utd's hands now. We can even afford to lose against Chelsea and another team and even if Chelsea won all their games we'd still win the title on goal difference so it's looking good for Man U but we can't really afford to risk losing any games. I'm expecting a draw at Stamford Bridge.

Still a long way to go though. Utd can't afford any slip ups! Chelsea definately can't if they lose any games now it's over :)

Two great goals from Chelsea although Spurs had more chances overall but if you can't put it in the net you are going to suffer. Utd have the better draw in the Semi's but it's the FA cup ... anything can happen :) Mourinho won't be relishing playing Blackburn though. It is still very open and although I still think Utd will do it I have to say this is turning into one of the best run-ins for years! Only twice in the last 15 yrs or so can I remember it going down to the last day! As a Man U fan I hope it doesn't come to that and the same if you're a chelsea fan I suppose but for the neutral fan it's thrilling!

It's been a miserable summer for United fans. Few of our players performed well at the World cup and one of those wants to leave. David Gill rashly promised to try and complete all transfer business before the tournament and yet, not a single player has arrived. Spurs are haggling over the sale of Michael Carrick, a gifted midfielder but one whose addition to the squad doesn't so much solve an existing problem - the absence of a defensive/box to box midfielder - as create a new one - although he is considered to be a defensive midfielder, he is more of a deep-lying playmaker who rarely tackles, a kind of Geordie Pirlo.

It's been a great summer for Utd fans. No one performed for England in the world cup so that's nothing to do with Man Utd. Carrick isn't a defensive midfielder and he's not seen as one by anyone with a brain. He's more of a Scholes type player. Fergie stated he bought him for his passing ability and nothing else so don't know where you've got your idea that he's considered a Defensive midfielder?

trust me mourinho doesnt want to leave. hes the highest paid coach in the football. abramovich is going to fire him. hes been terrible this season considering the players he had.
theres a lot of speculation now that sheva will leave chelsea. this is because mourinho didnt let him go to Cradiff when the EURO 2012 presentations were happening and he had to say a couple of words for ukraine. he at the end went but that was only because surkis (ukranian football federation president) "prayed" to abramovich about it and abramovich changed it. common mourinho!!! wtf is this??? u cant let a player leave a to do something for his country?? and this was just over the border in wales. thats like nothing considering how close wales is to england. after this shevchenko lost respect for mourinho and now there have been speculations that he might leave chelsea. in my opinion he should. i do not like chelsea as a team and especially mourinho. u see him sitting on his chair at the bolton game with his friend coaches having a nice laugh and afterwords chelsea concedes and its 2-2 and he starts "working". at the end chelsea dont do shit and mourinho isnt that "special".

Well Mourinho will just have to settle for the Carling Cup now ;) There's still a chance of the Premiership but United will have to lose at least two of their games for that to happen. We can even afford to lose at Stamford Bridge now but I still think that will be a draw!

As for last nights performance I thought Chelsea played well. They were away from home and only conceded one goal. It was decided on pens which can go either way.

Mourinho is still a good coach! I hate the **** but he's a good coach. Chelsea have had a lot of good results this season and are still doing well but Utd have been better. Finishing second is still good for Chelsea. In England we don't sack managers just because they didn't win a trophy or missed out on the title. If that was the case Fergie would never have created the all conquering team he had but I do believe Roman will sack Mourinho as it's clear they don't like each other and ... well ... because he can! It won't go down well with the fans if he does though.

To be fair Chelsea played really well after they scored the equaliser. Arsenal had plenty of chances to make it 2-0 before the Chelsea goal but kept trying to thread it through instead of shooting. After Chelsea scored they felt they could go on and win it and stepped up several gears. It looked like Arsenal had ten men. Chelsea were superb. I was going NUTS at Arsenal

Respect to Chelsea they have been good all season and have played some great football but Utd deserve the title win. The Premiserhip is won so doesn't really matter what happens in the next couple of games. Roll on the FA cup Final. Both teams can yet be double winners!

NEXT GAME: Samsung Bluewings - Chelsea (Preseason) 17/07/07
If i'm not mistaken Chelsea won that game 1:0 and they won another pre-season match againts La Galaxy (Beckham first appearance) also 1:0. Go Chelsea!!!

The match against Manchester United is for the FA Cup Community Shield on August 5th.2007. I'm predicting another Chelsea win :)
