so i think most mexicans movies are pretty bad, but lately there have been a couple movies such as Y Tu Mama Tambien, Amorres Perros, El Crimen del Padre Amaro, and others that are amazing. What do you guys think about these movies? If you know any other noteworthy movies please let me know, i really enjoyed those movies and i'm hoping to find more. Also Gael Garcia is an awesome actor, i just saw the movie the science of sleep and its awesome i didnt expect to be dissapointed since it was writen by Micheal Gondry.

Amorres perros was awesome, great movie. Y tu mama tambien was alright, I happen to like the gael garcia movie where he plays a fag, its an almadovar film and its very good. Other movies in spanish that I liked alot:

Pantaleon y las visitadoras, Motorcycle diaries, Tinta roja, Todo sobre mi madre, no se lo digas a nadie, La mujer de mi hermano was alright. Theres a whole bunch of other movies I dont remeber right now.

yeah these movies that have been coming out lately from mexico are better but i hate the way they all have to be about sex drugs and violence.not because im a pussy or anything its just that i mean come on cant they come up with a good movei that does not show at least a boob and a half?

diarios de motocicleta is one of my favorite movies ever.i dont know if it is mexican or not but it is still great.

i mean that this past years mexican cinema has grown but all the movies they make are all sexual and violent.they should make more movies like "frida".i mean it still has a sex scene in it but its not as gruesome as the other movies.mexican producers should try to make more movies without sex in them and this way they expand their audience and more people around the world can watch them.

Calif

But people go to see movies with sexual content dude I think thats what everyone goes to see.

ok i see what you are saying, but the point of those movies arent ment to be family movies. And because those movies are controversial is the reason they've gotten international fame.

Yeah, its not his fault he's only 13. LOL.

The whole point of latin films, as most foreign films is to be provocative and controversial. That is the reason why they win awards and such. IMO It's become a part of latin american culture, if u read a book by a latin american author it will most likely have sex as well, like vargas llosa or gabriel garcia marquez. Its part of what makes the movies more realistic if u ask me. In anycase, those movies arent intended for little kids caruiz, and I personally wouldnt go pay to see a mexican cartoon or pg film. Amores Perros was awesome.

couldnt agree with you more. hahah mexican cartoons. (sounds like bullshit)
yeah, i really think that latin movies are the way they are now because they are interesting to watch and they attract people from different cultures. IMO we need to start making more of these movies and less of the Mario Almada bullshit that mexico has been putting out for so many years.

Calif

Yeah but we have to also understand that our folks grew up watching this kind of movies Mario Almada's movies and they like it they think that the movies coming out right now are gargabe to them to them the best movies are the old movies not these. To me I like this new movies coming out such like the one's mentioned at the beginning of this thread.

Ive been wait for Mexico 68 for a while now. :) My two favorite Mexican actors (Diego Luna & Gael Garcia Bernal) might be in it. And directed by Cuarón...pfft! Should be one hell of a movie.

I watched the first 30 minutes of Pans Labyrinth but got bored and stopped. Ill probably watch it soon though.

I'm not sure if Gael or Diego are gonna be in Mexico 68, but it should be good regardless. I'm kind of getting tired of seeing them in every single Mexican movie. Dont get me wrong i really like both of them but it just seems they are in every single movie.

Man i can't believe you didnt like Pan's Labyrinth, its such an awesome movies in my opinion.
