I was kind of happy to see him leave Milan cause he always scored against us. But I also felt that it's a shame to lose a player like him to another league.
I also knew that the league change would be difficult for him, but not this difficult, really. I mean it's a different style of playing, EPL is more fast paced, less tactical in some ways. But in all honesty, the smaller premiership teams do not have a very solid defence.
Still he's scored what, one goal? I would have expected him to shine in CL at least.
What do you think: will he be a Chelsea star and fans favourite before the end of season or will he be a massive disappointment?

A lot of players take time to adapt to the pace of the Premiership. You get no time on the ball in the Prem unlike in Serie a and the pace of the Premiership is also a lot quicker. He'll settle with time.

It's true that the pace of the game is very different in England and Italy. Shevchenko has to learn to use the space available; he's playing too much like he did in Italy, where the opposition made a wall in front of the goal, tried to eliminate the space for dangerous passing and let the more talented team keep the ball. In England even the weaker teams are coming to your feet with crunching tackles all the time, but that means a lot more space is opening - especially when the defenders make silly rushes for the ball and miss it.

Once Shevchenko learns to move better, he will be back to his best.

I don't think that Henry would score 30 goals in serie a. Neither would Luca Toni score 30 in premiership. For what I've seen of Shevchenko, i'd say the skill is there to be a success in any league.

Well Milan aren't as good as in recent years but i'd still expect them to win against Celtic. Celtic had a very lucky win against Man U. We controlled the game completely and due to them getting a freekick from a clear dive they scored but it was against the run of play. They also lost 3-0 to Kopenhagen so they are still one of the weakest teams in the draw. I know you are only saying they can beat Milan cos you hate Milan :lol:

Why aren't people making the connection between shevchenko arriving and drogba being on a tear? Ever notice that 2 defenders are worrying about shevchenko everywhere he goes? Which gives drogba the ability to get open more often and score goals seemingly at will. Shevchenko doesn't have to play well every game because the fact that two men are always paying such attention to him is worth a good bit of money.

Well I understand why you would say that because you are used to the way your league is. I would say English football is right as in other leagues you get fouls too easily. That is the way of the game is such places as Portugal, Italy and Spain. Players get fouls for things that shouldn't be fouls. I find out game a lot more interesting because you have to work a lot harder. The game is fast paced and physical. I find that a lot better than a game that is stopped every five minutes for a foul. Players go down to easily and should be made to work harder.

Well that's what I said Laury :) You have your view and I have mine and its all down to watching the football you are used to. It's like saying in the Beer glass half full or half empty? :lol: We'll never agree on which style and rules are best but I still have respect for all other leagues even if I prefer the EPL and consider our style better than any other.


in england much is about running. you can tell by the type of players they hire, martins, henry, etc...

and its funny english people don't have the build to run fast. they should use their height advantage to head in goals.

English have a different view of football, they are into running.. i dont care about who runs the fastest, its actually better to be versatile and adapt your game to any situation a la marcello lippi

When I said faster paced I didn't mean speed but mean the game flows unlike in a lot of other leagues where there are many interuptions in the game due to excessive fouls being given. In my opinion a lot of those fouls shouldn't be fouls and wouldn't be given in the EPL. Of course to you and others it's the opposite. I'm not disputing that but I won't accept that the EPL is any worse a league than any other. Everyone prefers the league they watch week in week out.

English players train mainly for strength as that's what is needed in our league but its not true we don't have players that can't run fast. Shaun
Wright-Phillips, Ryan Giggs, Ashley cole, Joe Cole ... there's plenty of Brit players who can run in our league.

First of all what is this talk that Shevchenko is a flop and he cannot adapt to the premiereship style of play. First of all ever thought that the chelsea players dont pass to all the players? Lampard has the most touch per game and you often find terry in the box as if hes a foreward. Do you think Ballack is happy at chelsea, i garuntee you not. Laury, your inter team is quite lucky that juventus is in serie B and milan have lost shevchenko stam and rui costa. Next year the serie A will be back to normal with juve and milan chasing for the title, and roma and inter chasing for 3rd place. Second of all to those who say the english league is better than every other league in the world, thats like saying drogba is better than ashley cole. Different styles, different tactics all together. Now the deal with sheva and why he cannot score...; you have drogba who is an average striker and then you have sheva whose a godlike striker both sitting in the front line up. Now many of these players especially in the bigger clubs have had a personal experience dealing with the ukranian and know that he can be one dangerous mother f***** thats why they mark him hardcore and make sure he wont get a single touch on the ball. Therefore when lampard is debating whether to shoot from half or pass, he sees drogba open and sheva covered and what does he do he passes to drogba and drogba scores the same old gay a$$ tapins that you find in every single match of the premiership. Galliani made one phone call regarding one match that is all, however we did not buy any refrees out like Juve did. Therefore we were allowed to enter in CL and serie A, because we didn't really commit a crime, however we knew about the scandal. Milan didn't get invovled in the scandal, go read up on it. Secondly your 28 points ahead of us, fine i'll give you that your the better than milan this season. DIDIER DROGBA has launched an amazing attack on Andriy Shevchenko by branding him selfish.

The 21-goal hitman has run out of patience with his £30million Chelsea strike partner.
