Real Madrid's Cicinho facing 6 months out
September 24, 2006

Real Madrid fullback Cicinho has been ruled out for six months after suffering knee ligament damage in last night's win at Real Betis.
Real doctor Juan Carlos Hernandez said this morning Cicinho could be out for between six and eight months, though more will be known after a scan.

If the injury is confirmed, Real could be granted permission by the Spanish Federation to sign a replacement player outside the transfer windows.

Real Madrid coach Capello: We're tracking Cicinho replacement
September 26, 2006

Real Madrid coach Fabio Capello has revealed they're studying the market to find a new right-back to replace Cicinho.

The Brazilian is out for the season with a knee injury and Capello said: "We are going to see what we can find. We are looking at players, but it is difficult to sign someone.

"We are not going to sign to spend money, but only if it is good for Madrid. Raul Bravo can play on the right. Mejia and Ramos can play there also."

Capello said: "Raul is playing well, although he needs a goal. He works and he has incredible desire. He is the captain. He likes to train and to play and is an example for his teammates."

palencia from real madrid B thinks he can play
Real Madrid fullback Palencia pleads case to replace Cicinho
tribalfooball.com - September 27, 2006

Real Madrid B fullback Miguel Palencia has pleaded with coach Fabio Capello to give him a chance to replace Cicinho.

Capello has declared they're studying the transfer market to find a replacement for the Brazilian, who is out for the season with a knee injury.

But Palencia says: "That a player injures himself is never pleasing, but I think that Cicinho plays in my position and that they can call on me.

"If Capello gives me an opportunity, I'd be delighted.

"If I am not ready now after 13 years here, then I will never be. The local players only need opportunities. I made my debut with Del Bosque at 18 years of age and later I played with Luxemburgo at La Corunna. I have matured a lot.

"I think that the solution to the loss of Cicinho is at home. In the first team there are not many pure right-backs and I am doing very well with the B team."

Th best option though is daniel alves from sevilla, he is the real "next cafu"

Wow this might really throw off his development.

that's strange, IMO, why do we need to purchase a temporarely replacment for Cicinho, when we can still use Salgado, he's good and stabled with Real squad, but the new-boy would need some time for adaptation. I hope after the injury Cicinho won't be selled to another club. He's Da Best right full-back there is

Real Madrid coach Capello presses for Zebina
September 28, 2006

Real Madrid will try again for Juventus defender Jonathan Zebina in January.
The Frenchman revealed this week he turned down a move to Real over the summer, but coach Fabio Capello remains keen on bringing the defender to Spain.

Importantly, Zebina is free to register for the Champions League and his versatility is something that Capello admits he's seeking.

Ronaldo-Van Nistelrooy
I have always lined up two strikers. I also like the fast wingers we have on the team.

One centre midfielder
Lining up one or two centre midfielders will depend on each match and the shape the team is in.

Right fullback
We are paying close attention to the Club's youth system players.

Centre backs
Mejía had some problems at the start of the season and had to work very hard to get in good physical form. Pavón can be an important player for the squad, both as a centre back and a right or left back. Raúl Bravo is very fast, and I like that.

Cannavaro
He needs to rest, especially psychologically.

Eto'o
When I saw him get hurt, I thought it would be a mild injury. I hope he returns soon because he's an important player. He's a player people like to see in action. Eto'o is currently the League's top-scorer and has a great goal-scoring sense. It's hard to find another player capable of scoring the same amount of goals. Eto'o and Ronaldinho also know each other very well, but I'm sure Gudjonsen will do a good job.

I think we have some good defenders and cicinho wasnt starting when salgado was healthy ne way so i geusse a Real madrid B player will be ok to be a sub

Cicinho convinced Capello wants him at Real Madrid
October 04, 2006

Real Madrid fullback Cicinho is convinced coach Fabio Capello sees him as a long-term player.
The Brazilian, out for the season with a knee injury, revealed: "Capello's reaction surprised me a lot. The coach has been in regular contact with me, asking about my recovery.

"I saw his face at the moment of the injury and his expression has stayed on my mind. He and Mijatovic have stayed in constant contact with me, being very positive about my recovery."

haha yea i know i forgot to say it was Capello haha,

ANd i agree mejia played well, and so has Raul Bravo, SAlgado was are starter before Cicinho so i dont think the Rb is that much of a problem like all the media is making it out to be.

That's correct.....before Cicinho we had Salgado and we were fine, but we also had a top-Carlos on the other side of the pitch.....maybe this affects the team more than people think....

I think the solution for this is to hire a CB (Mexes, Chivu, Gallas) and move Ramos to the right, with Salgado backing him up.

yupi would rather ramos as the RB, to me he seems more confident there. its like he me too; i feel more comfortable knowing that there is some behind me in case i mess up, and i think he has the same feeling

I think he showed playing in the Spanish NT that he performs better as a fullback than as a centreback.....Capello could give him a chance now that Cicinho is out......I think this could be easier if we had another CB.....

ia agree totally, i think we definintly need to more CB (1 if woodgate comes back), because helguera wont play, and mejia and pavon dont seem like they are that stable at the back. Maybe in the Champions league we could out mejia at Cb and Ramos at Rb just to see if Ramos will play better there

Leon of Silvren

I don't think Capello will take the risk of having Mejia in the backfield, wing backs have a lot less responsability than a CB, so I don't see the change happening any time soon, although it would be good, just not with Mejia.....Chivu, Mexes, Gallas.....you name one.

And we're being linked with Miguel, another RB, good but I'm not sure if he's the right guy to sign, I would rather have any of the above mentioned....

what i dont understand is what is up with helegara?
is it that he is refusing to play or is it that capello doesnt want him????

realmadrid289

helguera didnt play since that terrible clash with zaragoza in the cup,
lopez caro didnt make him play, and cappelo just continued, coz the player went out of match experience, although i think he should play.
i think his chance of proving himself would be in the cup, the tournment he lost his place in.
