Melbourne Victory has made it five wins out of five this season with a 2-1 victory over Perth Glory at Members Equity Stadium.
In a close game it was former Perth man Adrian Caceres who put Melbourne ahead on 55 minutes, turning and firing a fine shot past Glory goalkeeper Aleks Vrteski after being set up by Victory skipper Kevin Muscat.
Muscat then made it 2-0 from the penalty spot on 72 minutes after Archie Thompson's cross was handled by Adrian Webster. Muscat's penalty was his fourth goal of the season meaning he is now, improbably, the A-League's top scorer for season 2006/07.
Defender David Tarka powered home a header from a corner in the first minute of stoppage time to pull one back for the home side, but it was too late for Perth to snatch a point.
The win means Victory leads the table by four points from Queensland Roar, while Perth is in fifth, three points behind fourth-placed Adelaide United.
