This was only confirmed at Midday today here in Australia.
Today a diver was confirmed as killed by a stingray, but no name was released until the family were notified.

Doesn't make any sense. Dying by stingray is less likely than dying getting hit by lightning. He is the second person in the history of Australia to die in a stingray attack. So "him having it coming" doesn't apply in any way with his death.

if you ***k around with enough dangerous animals you will die. so it did have to do with the context. i dont know if you ever watched the show but it wasnt only snakes and crocigators

I always thought that stingray was a harmless fish... How did the stingray kill by the way? i didn't see the attack...

Apparently the stingray's barb pierced his chest juts under his heart.

They have underwater footage of him pulling the barb from his chest and then collapsing under water.

They tried to resucitate him for over 30 minutes, they flew him to the closest hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

He is the 2nd person ever to die from a stingray in Australia, the 17th overall in the world.

He was a great man, a great Icon for Australia and his memory will live on in all of his tireless efforts as an environmentalist.

A true legend and a world Icon, not just an Australian Icon.

RIP Steve Irwin.

I love this guy and it is really sad he was killed. Steve leaves behind 2 young children and his famous side kick wife.

About the sting ray attacks. My dad got stinged rayed 2 years ago in Florida by a little maybe 6 inch sting ray in the foot and I thought he was going to die. Really scary stuff he turned blue and was shaking in a matter of minutes. Good thing a native there knew what do to and you just have to boil some water, soak a rag in it, and put it on the stinged area and it soaks the stuff right out like it never happened. I can't imagine what Steve must have been through being attacked by a huge sting ray right by his heart.

its rather odd that a sting ray would kill him after all the snakes and shit that has crawled all over his face. i mean ive been stung twice while surfing, in SD you can complain all you want and no one cares if you havce been stung by a sting ray. of all the ways to go i always pictured him getting torn to shreds by a 30 foot python,
