Reports - Adriano-Ronaldo swap
Wednesday 30 August, 2006

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Spanish radio stations have announced that Inter have agreed to send Adriano to Real Madrid in exchange for Ronaldo.

Cadena Ser reported this evening that a deal has been struck between the Nerazzurri and Real, but that the only remaining issue to be worked out is Julio Baptista’s switch to Arsenal for Jose Antonio Reyes to free up a non-EC status place in Fabio Capello’s side.

The transfer window closes on Thursday evening and a flurry of activity is expected in Serie A, possibly including the shock return of Il Fenomeno.

Ronaldo, who left San Siro in a cloud of controversy in 2002, admitted this week that he had received offers from both Milan and Inter.

“I honestly don’t know what jersey I will wear next year, football players are always the last to know what is happening,” said Ronaldo in Monaco yesterday, where he was awarded the 2006 Golden Foot award.

“I do not know what my destiny will be and in any case I could not confirm anything before details are finalised,” added the Seleçao star.

“Inter have made it clear that they are interested in me and it’s always nice for me to think back to the time I spent there. I have been speaking to Massimo Moratti very often, but at the time being I cannot promise him that I will not go to Milan. In any case, I am very proud of the fact that two sides from the same city are both keen on signing me.”

Inter also commented over the past 24 hours that they have no intention of releasing Adriano, despite his angry reaction to a substitution in the 4-3 Italian Super Cup victory over Roma.

“I think that Moratti has always said what he thinks of Adriano, in many different ways,” noted Roberto Mancini.

“And the team, all his Coaches and the fans have always done the same. We all agree that we must have faith in Adriano.”

I adore Ronaldo, but your first quote was funny, blue.
That stuff must be gossip. He wants to stay in Real!
It must be gossip.
It has to be!

man all these reports are scaring me ... i don't know what to believe :( i really hope they don't screw up what has been one of the best transfer markets in years for Inter ... ronaldo was incredible once but now its a different story ... and trading him for who is meant to be his successor is just plain dumb ... if we do get rid of adriano (which i hope not for now) then i want it to be for shitloads of money ...

These rumours have been goin on too long...now I'm getting scared too. It's obvious that Capello doesn't want Ronaldo in his team, that's why Real bought Van Nistelrooy. And Moratti, who seems to blindly love some players, is sure not to object either.

Exchanging MacRonaldo to Adriano would be the most awful transfer decision this team has ever made! And it would be such a spineless action after what ilmercenario did to Inter back in 2002. If that deal goes through, I will have zero respect for Moratti and other Inter directors.

Guys say goodbye 2 what we called il imperatore cause Ronaldo has just reached now Milano airport.
only good thing in the deal is that it may be a Loan swap deal

Yeah, i think he's going to Inter now. Oh well.
By the way, people, ahem! Ronaldo is not fat. I saw recent pic of him and he is looking good, so all of these jokes are starting to get annoying. If he was fat, I understand, but he isn't. Even when he was bigger than the average footballer, he wasn't even fat. I saw him in fitted shirts and he was looking good.
Please; no more 'fat jokes' or whatever.
They must die.
They must.

Inter deny Ronaldo option Thursday 31 August, 2006

The much talked about Adriano and Ronaldo exchange failed to materialise today, even if Inter have insisted no deal was on the cards.

Although owner Massimo Moratti did seem to suggest that the two players could switch teams before the window closed, a club spokesman insisted Ronaldo was not being lined up for a sensational return.

“Inter confirm their total faith in Adriano,” stated club official Stefano Filucchi. “There was no negotiation with Real Madrid over Ronaldo.”

Adriano is set to feature in tonight’s three-team tournament between Inter, Milan and Juventus for the Trofeo Tim.

.......whoooh...it would've been a desaster to swap a 24 year old for a 30 year old player....although Adriano has problems...Inter dont depend on him as it was the case in the past...he can relax now...I like Ronaldo everyone knows that...but i would've felt cheated in some perverse way if a youngster was swapped for an old times...perhaps for someone else...but not for Adriano...Right now we have the best forward Arsenal on the Planet......

let's give Adriano another chance and hope he do well but we wont lose anything if he doesnt do well as we have options now not like last year when we depended on him 2 be the team leader

...Ronaldo\Adriano swap can happen in January if Adriano behaves like last season....Moratti is still thinkin of that...im sure of it...and Adriano should put his shit together...Fast...

Maybe Adriano should be a bit more humble...I mean he is always saying stuff like "I will prove I'm the best", "this season I will bring us the scudetto"...he talks like he's the only world class player in the team. So he wants to be the star, but can't take the pressure on the field. This worries me.
Less words, more action, mr Adriano.

I don't mind him talking like that because it shows he wants to do well. Perhaps the desire hasn't always been there and now he finally understands that he must work hard.

Or maybe I'm wrong and he'll never reach his potential or maybe he was never that great in the first place ;). Regardless, we'll learn a good deal about Adriano's character this season.

In my opinion Adriano still has a chance untill January 2 prove his class or else he will be out.

It would be so hard in the main circumstances.. we have FWs that can be always in form and ready for the spot any time now, Crespo, Ibra.. and not mentioning Alvaro Alexander .. (hehe just kidding about the last one :D)
