Vela Out For Upcoming Qualifiers
http://images.mirror.co.uk/upl/m4/mar2009/0/2/carlos-vela-celebrates-his-goal-565715506.jpg
Carlos Vela was ruled out for the next month with an ankle injury, which will keep him out of Mexico's upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

Carlos Vela will not play a role in Mexico's crucial World Cup qualifiers at Costa Rica and at home against Honduras in early September.

Vela has been ruled out for the next month due to an ankle injury, the Mexican Football Federation announced Sunday.

Vela's club Arsenal performed a magnetic imaging resolution (MRI) exam and results revealed that Vela would need a month of rest to recover.

"He came back injured," Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said. "This is one of the problems with international football."

The FMF said in a press release that Vela's injury grew worse upon his return to England, and that the FMF had been in close contact with Vela.

"Upon returning to Arsenal, he injured himself and underwent some initial exams, which resulted in immobilization of his ankle. That led to more studies to determine the severity of the injury," the release read.

Against the United States on Aug. 12, Vela came off the bench early in the second half. In the Gold Cup final, Vela did the same but had more of an impact as he scored a goal in a 5-0 rout over the Americans.

Three Changes In Mexico's World Cup Qualifying Squad
Injured players Carlos Vela and Rafael Marquez are out while Javier Aguirre opts for three talented youngsters in their place.

http://mexico.worldcupblog.org/files/2008/06/mexico_football_federation.gif

Mexico released the list of players who will try and put El Tri back in a top-three spot in World Cup qualifying.

Of the players manager Javier Aguirre initially called up to face the United States, only three changes were made. Aguirre left off Carlos Vela and Rafael Marquez due to injury and also dropped Chivas' Alberto "Venado" Medina.

The new faces on the roster are Nestor Calderon of Toluca, Pablo Barrera of Pumas and Hector Moreno of Dutch side AZ Alkmaar.

Mexico will play at Costa Rica on Sept. 5 and will host Honduras on Sept. 9. Costa Rica leads the Hexagonal with 12 points while Honduras and the United States are even with 10. Mexico trail the trio as El Tri have nine points.

Calderon, 20, forced his way on the squad as he has been one of Toluca's top players this season. Calderon has scored five goals in five games as Toluca are 4-1 at the start of the Apertura 2009 season. Calderon has made up for teammate Hector Raul Mancilla's absence.

Meanwhile, Pumas' Pablo Barrera is back with the team. Barrera was a member of the title-winning Gold Cup squad but saw his play fall off towards the end of the tournament. Barrera also worked his way back onto the national team despite his club's form. Pumas are 0-5 in league this season.

Moreno, meanwhile, won an Eredivisie title with AZ Alkmaar. Moreno has played in three of AZ Alkmaar's games this season. He sat out a season-opening 3-2 loss to Heracles Almelo but has played in the rest of the club's matches. With Moreno in the lineup, AZ Alkmaar has not allowed a goal in three games, all wins.

Highlighting the roster are European-based players such as Carlos Salcido (PSV), Andres Guardado (Deportivo la Coruña) and Giovani Dos Santos (Tottenham) as well as domestic players Miguel Sabah (Morelia), Gerardo Torrado (Cruz Azul) and Jonny Magallon (Chivas) as well as Cuauhtemoc Blanco of Chicago and Guillermo Franco, who is still without a club

Goalkeepers:
Guillermo Ochoa (America), Jesus Corona (Cruz Azul).

Defenders:
Jose Antonio "Gringo" Castro (Tigres), Efrain Juarez (Pumas), Jonny Magallon (Chivas), Aaron Galindo (Chivas), Ricardo Osorio (Stuttgart), Hector Moreno (AZ Alkmaar), Carlos Salcido (PSV Eindhoven), Oscar Rojas (America).

Midfielders:
Israel Castro (Pumas), Gerardo Torrado (Cruz Azul), Andres Guardado (Deportivo la Coruña), Pablo Barrera (Pumas).

Forwards:
Nestor Calderon (Toluca), Cuauhtemoc Blanco (Chicago), Miguel Sabah (Morelia), Guillermo Franco (unattached), Nery Castillo (Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk), Giovani Dos Santos (Tottenham).

Olympiakos Eye Loan Deal for Giovani
http://mexico.worldcupblog.org/files/2009/05/gio.jpg
Reports in Greece, claim website IMScouting.com, suggest Olympiakos plan to offer Tottenham’s Giovani Dos Santos an escape route on loan – but they face competition from Turkish rivals Besiktas who are keen on the Mexican. (Daily Mail)

It appears that the Greek side Olympiakos are only interested in a loan deal for the young Mexican but the Turkish outfit Besiktas would be interested in signing the £6m attacker on a permanent deal, perhaps Harry Redknapp is better off opting to send the former Barcelona man out on loan because the 20 year old has undoubted potential but could well suffer the fate of a good many Tottenham players who were at the club prior to the former Pompey manager’s arrival.

The Turkish champions have had an average start to their season and have the Champions League to look forward to and appear to have some cash to splash having already snapped up the excellent Nihat from Villarreal.

Giovani had a stunningly successful impact when playing for his national side at the Gold Cup he was voted the player of the tournament but he still seems some way off adding to his two Premier League starts.

In many ways Spurs could benefit more from the talented youngster going out on loan to another English club so he can better get used to his surroundings, his spell at Ipswich Town was a success and if Harry can find a home for him at a lower level Premier League club then it may suit the club more. However if Besiktas put in a decent offer Redknapp may feel the time is right to cut his

Huh? lol revise your sentence there bro, you sound like your 4. lol Landin hasn't been consistent in the clubs he's been in. Sure he's had great runs but they don't seem to last long. Your comparing his capability with a consistent player, for example Andres Guardado. His success and consistency of being a great player is what got him where he is now. On top of that players need to adapt to a faster pace and different style of game and still keep that constancy over seas. Landin is just one of those regular players that has had good moments in their career. Not much else can be said about him. He really has no highlights that distinguish him from other players that have made it in Europe for being great in their local league. I hope I'm wrong about this but at this point in time Landin's capabilities are no where close to landing him in a European team.

dannymex
08-28-2009, 06:27 AM
yeah i dunno, landin seems pretty average if anything...

Xizor
08-28-2009, 06:30 AM
He did have that great run when he was like 20 years old remember? That's what landed him in the national team for a couple of games but after that I really haven't herd much of him. Just a couple of times with Morelia but other then that, none. Anyways that's my two cents on him, an average player like dannymex said.

dannymex

Landin all that he needs is some playing time, and tyhat has been seen with Cruz Azul.

everytime Landin has done well in a team i because hes gotten playing time.

and everytime he's gone down in leves is becasue the coach, (usually a new coach with a new plan) have taken him off the field

The only Mexicans that have triumphed in USA are Palencia, Suarez and Blanco. I might be missing a couple but those are the only ones that come to mind at the moment. Landin is an average player, think of it this way, if he was good he would of been called up to the national team numerous times already.

Calif
09-01-2009, 06:16 AM
Yeah but he has not been given an opportunity man is all Im saying if he gets that confidence then he might become a more regular player someone with more possibilities..man that's what I'm saying!

@P-P that is true everyone was expecting Landin to keep on scoring goals this season again with Cruz Azul but nope that didn't happen thanks to the new coach!

i cant believe you guys are going on about this subject with Landin. He is a decent player in Mexico's league...he would show more class if he had consistent playing time there. MLS is a 2 or 3 tear league in my opinion, and im sure he'll show class in that level.

Salcido was very solid, Maza was solid but had a weak period in the first half of there Europa League match against Sparta Prag, PSV won 1-0.

On a related note, according to the AD Sportwereld a ridiculous number of scouts and managers were present at the PSV game ( about 15), ridiculous that is for a Euroleague game. It hasnot gone unnoticed that PSV is on the way back. The top of the EPL except Arsenal were there with Tottenham etc, the Bundesliga and Spain. According to that article Salcido was one of the players targeted. You would be finished faster mentioning the players they didnot come to watch.

I remember about that Plascensia kid going to Atletico Madrid there was a lot of controversy...with Chivas I think if im not mistaking..that they wanted some money for him, Because he was apparently in Chivas youth system and shit they wanted some money or something...can't remember what was the whole deal about him!

I remember about that Plascensia kid going to Atletico Madrid there was a lot of controversy...with Chivas I think if im not mistaking..that they wanted some money for him, Because he was apparently in Chivas youth system and shit they wanted some money or something...can't remember what was the whole deal about him!

Just got done watching the FIFA World Club Cup match Atalante vs Barca. And wow Memo Rojas was extremely impressive, so was Arbelloa i think his name was and Navarro and Bermudez "El Hobbit" was too. But yeah Rojas reminded me of Messi the way he controls the ball and his touch when running. He scored an amazing goal in the 5th minute.

Aguirre needs to call these guys up for the up coming friendlies, especially Memo Rojas.

The guy is selfish and self centered. Sure he has talent.....lots more then your typical Mexican player but the guy is cocky as hell. Teams in Mexico have tried to give him playing time if only he moved to Mexico but the guy clearly stated it would be a step down for him. Haha the guy sucks balls, he's not in rhythm or in shape to play in a single European match because his ass is stuck to the bench, no no actually he's a reserve meaning he watches the games from the stands. This guy is clearly rotting on the bench, I've said it a million times. This guy needs to get his shit together and start playing in Mexico, like in Cruz Azul, Pachuca, Santos or America. A high paced team that could give him the minutes he needs to get back in shape, the guy is too stupid to realize this though. He rather play in a mediocre European league just to say "aaahhh yeah I play in Europe and you play in Mexico, meaning I'm better then you". What the fuk, he's a idiot, simple as that.

I'ts beyond that..man what this guy needs to do is pay-off whatever he has left of contract with Shahktar...That team has been letting Nery go to crappy teams where he has not been playing, I remember a while back when he was going to go to Betis, But Shahktar did not approve the move to Betis and it all went down he ended up going to a crappy team. I saw the highlights of the barcelona game, Rafa did not derseve a red for that imho, yellow maybe, but idk if he had a yellow prior to that. It was a crappy angle though, might have to find another video. Plus refs have it out for barcelona :P

As for Nery, i dont think he's as arrogant as he once was, i know i wouldnt be if ive been off the pitch for half a year. He's got confidence though, i'll give him that. Sometimes it's good to have that type of attitude, Cristiano Ronaldo seems to be that way too, and he's always hustling to be better than he presently is. Although i dont agree with Nery taking a penalty shot when he's not supposed to.

Nery is pretty much screwed. Shak put an expensive price tag on him that no one wants to pay for somebody that hasnt been playing for half a year now. I feel bad for the guy really, he should have stayed at Olympiakos, but shoulda coulda woulda.

MANCHESTER SIGN
MEXICAN PRODIGY

http://img.thesun.co.uk/multimedia/archive/01020/hernandez_280x390_1020955a.jpg

MANCHESTER UNITED have agreed a £6million deal with Mexican side Chivas to sign Javier Hernandez.

The Mexican hitman has smashed four goals in four games for his country and is expected to move to Old Trafford in the summer.

Hernandez is in line to play at this summer's World Cup finals after finding the net 10 times in 11 appearances in the Primera Division so far this season.

The 21-year-old, nicknamed 'Chicharito' — 'the little pea' — joins Fulham defender Chris Smalling as a new United recruit and is the first Mexican player to sign for the club.

As part of the deal, the Red Devils will play a match to open the new 45,000 capacity Chivas Stadium in Guadalajara as part of its 2010/11 season preparations.

Unite boss Alex Ferguson said: "I am delighted to reach agreement with Chivas to bring such an exciting young striker, who has been in such prolific form for both his club and his country.

"He will be a great addition to our squad and we look forward to welcoming our first Mexican player in the summer.

"We are equally excited to play our first game in Mexico, opening the magnificent new Chivas Stadium in July."

Hernandez passed a medical in Manchester this week and could provide an early glimpse of his talent in England given Mexico are due to visit Wembley for a friendly on May 24.

The jersey is a replica of the Mexico 2006 WC jersey. lol I did not know Chicharrito knew English, I mean it's descent. Most Mexican players don't know how to speak English at all. I hope he gets playing time, the only reason why Mexican players haven't triumphed in Europe for all these years is lack of playing time. Have you guys seen Guille Franco, the guy gets playing time and he's doing great with West Ham!

"Found this doing some internet sluething on the Times of London website. Who knows if this guy has good "sources" but it is interesting. I am certain he is talking about Omar Arellano.

Timothy Smith wrote:
This kid Hernandez is definitely a striker, a very good one. He would hopefully fill the goal gaps. I have a friend in the US and he said this kid is fantastic, he's fast, strong, and letal. Supposely the kid is Great. I verified him with videos on YOUTUBE and he's definitely scored goals. Although my friend told me there's another kid on the same team, whose really fast, maybe faster than Messi, and my sources say he might be moving to Chelsea or Arsenal soon enough.

I definitely foresee Arellano playing in Europe next year, but I would rather see him play in Spain. He's more cut out for that league. I know he would tear it up playing alongside Guardado at Depor, for example."

Injuries have killed him. Not ready to play in a bigger league. Looks like a lost talent if you ask me... But I hope he does well.

injuries have slowed him down, and plus he wasnt getting much playing time. Now that chicharito is gone though, he'll get back in form and pick up where he left off. If so i could see him going to europe. He just needs to prove himself with the national team...

Exactly, before he thinks of Europe, he has to prove himself in the domestic league.

Well Efrain Juarez did play for Barcelona B with Gio Dos Santos for a while. I'm not sure where he would fit though. Barrera is definitely suited to play in the Netherlands, I'm sure that's where he's headed and Castro is more of a player suited for La Liga in Spain.

Ya they probably are, Pumas is just waiting for their players to shine in the World Cup so they can be sold for alot more.

i would love to see all those dudes in europe. They all seem like they could do great things.

Do you guys think Torrado should have tried going to england! Hes a tough player kinda like paul scholes. They have a similar style of play i think, they've both very agressive.

Xizor

Hell yeah, when he played in Sevilla he wasn't as aggressive but I think he should go back to Europe.

Carlos Salcido suena para el París Saint Germain
Amsterdam, miércoles 28 de Abril del 2010

http://euro.mediotiempo.com/media/2010/04/28/carlos-salcido.jpg
