Salamanca cayó 2-0 ante Hércules en su visita al estadio José Rico Pérez, dentro de la fecha 30 de la Segunda División de España, en donde el delantero mexicano Carlos Vela poco pudo contribuir en el ataque.

Los goles del encuentro fueron marcados por el mediocampista Diego Mateo a los 19 minutos y Moisés a los 76, con lo que el conjunto alicantino superó con facilidad al rival y le rompió la racha de tres juegos sin derrota (un empate y dos victorias).

El mexicano Carlos Vela, quien se reencontró con el gol la fecha pasada en la victoria 2-1 ante Lorca, poco pudo hacer hoy en la ofensiva del conjunto "charro" durante los 83 minutos que permaneció en el terrero de juego, antes de ser sustituido por Jorge Pina.

El blanquiazul se fue al frente en el marcador tras la anotación del mediocampista Diego Mateo y los dirigidos por Javi López a pesar de tener una pequeña reacción no lograron igualar el marcador, el cual se incrementó con el tanto de Moisés, quien tenía poco de haber ingresado al encuentro, para el 2-0.

Además de la derrota el cuadro salmantino vio como el camión que los trasportaría de regreso a Salamanca fue apedreado por algunos aficionados del Hércules, dañando la parte delantera pero sin consecuencias.

Con este marcador, Salamanca se quedó de manera momentánea en el sexto puesto con 43 puntos, a la espera de que concluya la Jornada 30 de la división de ascenso, en tanto Hércules suma 41 y es noveno de forma provisional.

El delantero mexicano Carlos Vela buscará mañana junto con Salamanca sumar su segundo triunfo en fila cuando reciban en el estadio Helmántico al Elche, para con una combinación de resultados acceder al cuarto sitio de la tabla.

Vela, quien la fecha pasado contribuyó con una anotación y una asistencia en la victoria 2-0 sobre Alavés, intentará incrementar los ocho tantos que lleva hasta el momento en la Segunda División española.

Los dirigidos por Javi López, que ocupan el sexto puesto de la clasificación con 47 unidades, saldrán al campo con lo mejor que tienen en la zona ofensiva, en la que Vela jugará a lado del español Braulio.

Vela, quien suma ocho tantos en la temporada, se perderá el duelo ante los malagueños tras ser expulsado a cinco minutos del final del encuentro ante Albacete luego de una fuerte entrada sobre el defensa español Barkero, en el empate 1-1 la jornada pasada.

El Salamanca, equipo de futbol donde milita el artillero mexicano Carlos Vela, venció este día como local 3-2 al Real Madrid Castilla, en la fecha 37 de la Segunda División de España, en duelo disputado en el estadio Helmántico.

Castilla se fue al frente a los 14 minutos con espectacular remate de Adrián, pero el empate no tardó mucho en llegar, pues Quique Martín puso el 1-1 con un golazo al 32, y antes de irse al descanso, Vela se escapa por la banda izquierda, sirve para el ariete Braulio y lo dejó sólo para vencer al arquero Codina para el 2-1.

Ya en la parte complementaria, Javi García logró la igualada a dos tantos luego de realizar un buen remate de cabeza en el área, pero poco les duró el gusto, pues Braulio consiguió su segunda anotación del día y el 3-2 final, a pase del volante Zé Tó.

El delantero mexicano fue sustituido cuando faltaba un minuto para finalizar el tiempo reglamentario. Se fue con un pase para gol y estuvo cerca de marcar un tanto con un buen disparo de larga distancia.

Con el triunfo, el Salamanca continúa entre los los 10 primeros de la división de ascenso del balompié español, donde ya no aspira a nada cuando aún restan cinco fechas, y rompió una racha de cuatro duelos sin ganar, además que no lo hacía en casa desde el pasado 18 de marzo.

El ariete mexicano Carlos Vela reveló que la próxima temporada no militará en el Salamanca de la Segunda División española, ya que espera recalar en un equipo de la máxima categoría ibérica.

El delantero, propiedad del Arsenal inglés, jugó cedido esta campaña en el cuadro salamantino, que no logró su reto del ascenso, por lo que Vela estudia ofertas de clubes de Primera División.

La "perla azteca" del conjunto de la Liga Premier confirmó que entidades de la Primera División española se interesaron por sus servicios para el próximo torneo.

"Pero no voy a revelar los nombres", apuntó el internacional del combinado nacional de México Sub-20, quien manifestó que "ojalá" se cumpla su sueño de jugar en la máxima categoría del fútbol español.

"Me quedaré un año más en España, pero si me quedo es para tratar de buscar un equipo de la Primera División", explicó.

Cualquier negociación sobre el futuro del jugador (formado en Chivas de Guadalajara) será a través del Arsenal, propietario de su ficha desde 2005, cuando lo contrató por cinco campañas.

Precisamente el estratega de los gunners, el francés Arsene Wenger, estuvo en la capital española esta semana para reunirse con directivos del Atlético de Madrid.

Según la prensa española, el equipo rojiblanco que dirige el técnico mexicano Javier Aguirre estaría interesado en futbolistas propiedad del Arsenal, aunque aún no citó el nombre de Vela.

El goleador de 18 años valoró de forma muy positiva su paso por el Salamanca y destacó que "quiere despedirse con una victoria de la afición" charra el próximo domingo ante Vecindario.

Vela jugará su último partido en el estadio Helmántico el próximo domingo (fecha 39 de las 42 del campeonato), ya que después deberá concentrarse con el Tricolor sub-20 en México.

Los pupilos de Javi López, quien anunció que no renovará con el club charro, jugarán las jornadas 40 y 41 a domicilio, por lo que Vela tendrá su último partido en casa el próximo domingo.

El delantero mexicano Carlos Vela Garrido, máximo anotador en el Mundial Sub-17 en 2005 que conquistó el equipo Tricolor, espera repetir ambos títulos en el Mundial Sub-20 en Canadá.

El jugador propiedad del Arsenal inglés, cedido al Salamanca de la Segunda División española, exteriorizó su ilusión ante el reto mundialista, del 30 de Junio al 22 de Julio.

"Espero que todo nos vaya muy bien", declaró el seleccionado del Director Técnico del cuadro nacional mexicano Sub-20, Jesús Ramírez,

A nivel personal, Vela aseguró que "irá con las mismas ganas" a la cita en Canadá que cuando conquistó con el Tri la Copa del Mundo Sub-17, en Perú hace dos años.

Agregó que "intentará repetir la Bota de Oro" que se adjudicó Perú como máximo realizador, con cinco tantos.

Ha transcurrido más de un año y medio desde que la selección Sub-17 de México conquistó la Copa del Mundo de la especialidad, y uno de los artífices de aquel logro, Carlos Vela, sueña con repetir la hazaña en el Mundial Sub-20.

En una entrevista con la Federación Internacional de Futbol Asociación (FIFA), el delantero del Salamanca de la Segunda División de España se confiesa y asegura que están listos para afrontar el reto.

"Estoy realmente ilusionado con la posibilidad de jugar otro Mundial. Queremos tener la misma actuación que en Perú y volver a darle esa alegría a nuestra gente. Es algo que pensamos todo el tiempo y que buscaremos conseguir", mencionó.

Vela, líder de goleo en Perú 2005 con cinco dianas, es parte de la "Generación dorada" del balompié azteca que quiere repetir la historia, y aunque sabe que México saldrá como uno de los favoritos, no quiere dejarse llevar por la presión.

"Va a ser diferente. Es un torneo de mayor nivel, con otros jugadores que no estuvieron hace dos años. No siento que haya presión, más bien la ilusión y las ganas de hacer otra vez las cosas bien. Si eso nos da otro título será excelente, pero no es algo que nos obsesione", manifestó.

El artillero de 18 años de edad, quien puede dar el salto a la Liga de las estrellas tras su paso con el cuadro salmantino, reconoció que el equipo llega bien a la justa canadiense, que se realizará del 30 de junio al 22 de Julio.

Dijo que "me gustó mucho el equipo que jugó en Culiacán (el Premundial). Hay mucho nivel y la competencia interna es muy interesante. Los que seguimos tenemos dos años más de experiencia y hay jugadores nuevos que tienen muchísima calidad".

Por otra parte, reconoce que le costó adaptarse al Salamanca, aunque luego de la buena temporada realizada con el cuadro ibérico quiere dar el salto a un futbol más competitivo y consolidarse, y el Arsenal inglés, que lo llevó a Europa, es su objetivo.

"Me encantaría ir a Londres. Mi sueño es debutar con el primer equipo y poder ayudar. Sé que el técnico (Arsene Wenger) le da mucha oportunidad a los jóvenes y sería ideal estar ahí", confesó el jugador surgido de las Chivas de México.

Y aunque es consciente que puede ser complicado llegar al primer equipo de los Gunners, confiesa que su objetivo es la Primera División de una liga importante, "creo que tengo la capacidad y la experiencia para hacerlo muy bien".

En los últimos días han surgido rumores sobre el futuro de Vela, quien podría interesar a equipos como el Atlético de Madrid, Levante y Celta, todos de la máxima categoría de España.

El delantero mexicano Carlos Vela se despidió este día del equipo de futbol Salamanca de la Segunda División española en la derrota como visitante 1-0 ante el Tenerife, en partido correspondiente a la penúltima fecha de la categoría de plata.

La solitaria anotación del encuentro llegó al minuto 61, cuando el defensor Azoye Díaz se encontró sólo con el balón, que remató de cabeza en el área chica donde el arquero Alberto Martínez "Tete" no pudo evitar la caída de su marco.

El cotejo, disputado en el estadio Heliodoro Rodríguez López, fue deslucido desde el inicio, con pocas opciones al frente por parte de los dos equipos, aunque el cuadro local contó con más oportunidades para abrir el marcador.

La opción más clara del conjunto charro fue construida por el ariete mexicano al minuto 53, quien desde media cancha superó a dos rivales, se enfiló al área rival con balón dominado y, ante la salida del guardameta, bombeó el esférico, mismo que no entró por muy poco.

El joven ariete mexicano Carlos Vela se despidió hoy del club Salamanca tras 10 meses como titular, y en los que fue una de las revelaciones de la Segunda División española.

"Todo son recuerdos bonitos, me llevo amigos, recuerdos de un gran equipo, de una ciudad que me ha tratado muy bien, con mucho cariño", declaró el goleador.

El delantero mexicano de 18 años de edad acabó satisfecho su etapa en Salamanca y subrayó que ahora sólo piensa en disputar con su selección el Mundial Sub-20 en Canadá, que comienza el 30 de Junio próximo.

"Ahora pienso en ganar el Mundial, cambié el "chip" después del último partido con Salamanca (el pasado domingo)", declaró el Campeón del Mundo Sub-17 en 2005.

Vela, quien viajó hoy a México para unirse a su Selección, señaló que "siempre voy pensando en lo más grande, en ganar, vamos con la máxima ilusión y a ver hasta dónde podemos llegar".

En su opinión, "Brasil y Argentina siempre llevan el cartel de favoritas, pero nosotros vamos tranquilos a tratar de dar la sorpresa".

Y cuando termine la cita mundialista, "empezaré a pensar lo que va a ser de mí el próximo año" apuntó Vela, quien manifestó su deseo de militar en un equipo de la categoría reina española.

"Quiero dar el salto a Primera División, a la que yo creo que es la mejor Liga del mundo, experimentar con los mejores jugadores del mundo, creo que es el sueño de todo jugador".

Respecto a su paso por Salamanca, donde fue un titular fijo desde su llegada al cuadro de El Helmántico, Vela reconoció que "fue un buen escaparate" para darse a conocer en España.

"La verdad es que fue buen escaparate, el entrenador (Javi López) me dio la confianza, su estilo de juego me iba bien y todo se combinó para que se conociera un poquito a Carlos Vela también en Primera", explicó.

Destacó que siempre recordará al Salamanca porque fue su "primer equipo como profesional en España y eso no se olvida. Me costará dejarlo al principio, pero el futbol es así".

"Siempre hay que ir madurando, conocer cosas nuevas, aprender a disfrutar más de la vida y del futbol. Con eso uno va creciendo como persona y le sirve para todo".

Carlos Vela jugó este año 31 encuentros con Salamanca, en los que anotó ocho goles aunque se perdió varias citas debido a lesiones y a compromisos con su equipo nacional.

Vela llegó al club blanquinegro tras ser cedido por Arsenal al Celta de Vigo de Primera División española, donde pasó seis meses sin jugar dado que el cuadro gallego tenía ocupadas sus plazas para extracomunitarios.

"Tras seis meses estaba un poco mal y yo queria jugar, y ahora que termina esto me voy contento por lo hecho y ahora a mejorar y a seguir haciendo las cosas como hasta ahora", finalizó.

ARSENE WENGER is ready to unleash yet another sensational talent on the Premiership in Mexican striker Carlos Vela.

The Gunners chief last night wrapped up the £6million capture of France defender Bacary Sagna. But it is the prospect of Vela finally arriving at the Emirates that will intrigue Arsenal fans.

Arsenal last night confirmed Wenger is close to deciding whether to apply for a work permit for the brilliant young hitman to play in the first team this season or to leave him in Spain where he will end up with an EU passport by next January anyway.

Arsenal fans and players have been disgruntled following the sale of Thierry Henry to Barcelona and Wenger's reliance on youth.

But Vela is believed to have the ability to follow the likes of Cesc Fabregas as being a key first-team player despite his tender years.

In fact, just two months ago the normally reserved Wenger admitted to being hugely excited by Vela's awesome potential.

The Frenchman said: "I like his intelligence and his pace. He scores goals but he can also create them. He's a special talent and I believe 100 per cent that he will make it at the highest level."

Vela was handed a five-year contract but could not make his debut in the Premiership because of English work permit restrictions.

Relegated Celta, having sorted out their EU problems, wanted to take Vela back on another season's loan to help them climb back into La Liga.
But Wenger has refused, insisting he has big plans for the longterm successor to Henry.

El club inglés Arsenal, dueño de la carta del jugador mexicano Carlos Vela, inició los enroques con el Salamanca para atraer al delantero del Tri Sub-20, ya que los salmantinos firmaron al brasileño Pedro Da Silva, primero de dos movimientos que se harán a cambio de Vela.

El defensa brasileño, quien también pertenece al Arsenal, jugará con el cuadro de Salamanca a partir de octubre, pero ahora estará entrenando con los albinegros por espacio de 15 días, para regresar a Brasil y después incorporarse a su nuevo equipo, con la idea de que

El Osasuna de Pamplona de la Primera española, parece ser el destino del delantero mexicano Carlos Vela, seleccionado Sub-20 y que fuera pieza importante del Salamanca de Segunda División de España.

El día de ayer el Arsenal, dueño de los derechos federativos del jugador, había iniciado los enroques necesarios para que Vela dejara definitivamente al Salamanca y así negociarlo con otro equipo.

Todo indica que el atacante mexicano estaría llegando a préstamo por un año, con opción a dos años más, con lo que el equipo inglés sigue manteniendo los derechos de Carlos.

Un aspecto importante que debió tomar en cuenta el Osasuna es la excelente relación que tuvieron con el técnico mexicano Javier Aguirre que los dirigió con buenas cuentas cuatro temporadas desde 2002 hasta el 2006.

Falta la confirmación oficial de esta información, pero las posibilidades de que Vela juegue el próximo torneo en la Primera División de España con el Osasuna, son ya bastante amplias.

18 year old forward Carlos Vela has joined Osasuna on loan for up to two years, strengthening the Pamplonan club's front line ahead of what is set to be a tough season.

Despite his tender years, Vela has played one season of first team football in Spain already. After almost joining Celta Vigo in La Liga - before this move was halted by Celta's overabundance of non-EU players - he instead went to Salamanca in La Segunda.

Carlos enjoyed a fruitful season with the Charros, netting 8 times in 31 appearances (28 starts, 3 as substitute) and contributing a wealth of assists. Now, the teenager will get the chance to test his abilities at the highest level.

Vela is highly-rated by the Arsenal management, who signed him from Guadalajara after his barnstorming displays in the World U-17 championships in 2005, and is set to be the latest in a long line of youngsters to emerge from the club's pro youth setup.

However, due to being Mexican, he cannot yet play in England without a work permit, which he does not have.

Arsene Wenger mulled over the possibility of keeping the player at the Gunners this season and starting the lengthy application process for such a permit, but instead decided on a second loan deal.

This has the joint effect of giving Vela more first team action whilst also speeding along his chance to get an EU passport, for which players spending a long time in Spain are eligible.

Once he receives this document - and this could happen as early as January - he'd be eligible to play for any club in the Union, including Arsenal.

At 18, Vela will become one of the youngest players in the Osasuna first team. Already dubbed "the next Henry", it remains to be seen how he'll deal with football at the Bernabeu and the Nou Camp.

El delantero mexicano Carlos Vela mostró mejoría de sus problemas musculares y hoy entrenó de manera parcial, aunque aún no se decide si tendrá acción el próximo domingo ante Racing de Santander.

Vela, quien sufrió una sobrecarga en los gemelos de ambas piernas el domingo anterior, trabajó de manera parcial junto al caboverdiano Eduardo Fernandes Pereira "Dady", quien tiene molestias en el cuadríceps izquierdo.

Según el parte médico del cuadro rojillo, el ex jugador de Salamanca de la Segunda División de España será valorado en los próximos días para determinar si puede o no ser convocado para el duelo ante Racing de la fecha 19.

Patxi Puñal, con un esguince en el tobillo derecho, entrenó en solitario bajo las órdenes del Preparador Físico y, al igual que sus compañeros, continuará en observación diaria.

Pese a los tres lesionados, el técnico José Angel Ziganda recibió una buena noticia, el alta médica del defensa Igotz Garde, quien luego de cuatro meses ausente de las canchas está a disposición del timonel para ver acción.

El pasado 7 de Septiembre Garde sufrió fractura en el tobillo derecho y tuvo que estar cuatro meses fuera tras ser sometido a una intervención quirúrgica.

El jugador mexicano de Osasuna Carlos Vela admitió que el equipo navarro está atravesando un mal momento que le ha llevado a los puestos de descenso, pero ha subrayado que lo último que se puede perder es el entusiasmo y que confía en que la plantilla emerja hacia la zona media de la tabla.

"Somos conscientes de que no estamos pasando un buen momento, que el equipo no está en una zona buena ni donde quisiéramos, pero lo último que puedes perder es el entusiasmo, las ganas de salir ahí y sigo confiando plenamente en el equipo y en que podemos sacar esto adelante", ha afirmado en conferencia de prensa en Tajonar.

Vela ha apuntado como soluciones el trabajo y creer en el potencial de la plantilla: "Sé que es difícil ganar tres partidos seguidos y cualquiera puede ganar a cualquiera en esta Liga".

El delantero mexicano Carlos Vela fue citado de nueva cuenta por el técnico francés Arsene Wenger para la visita de Arsenal a Middlesbrough, correspondiente a la Fecha 17 de la Liga Premier de Inglaterra.

Vela, quien salió como titular y disputó los 90 minutos en la derrota 2-0 ante FC Porto el miércoles pasado en Champions League, no correrá con la misma suerte este sábado y tendrá que esperar por una oportunidad en la banca.

La razón de que el "Bombardero" regrese al banquillo de suplentes es la reaparición de los estelares del cuadro londinense, como el togolés Emmanuel Adebayor, que recibieron descanso durante la semana.

El delantero holandés Robin Van Persie se perderá el choque en el Estadio Riverside debido a molestias en el muslo, por lo cual deja un puesto vacante en la ofensiva, que seguramente ocupará el danés Nicklas Bendtner.

El Arsenal de la Liga Premier consiguió su pase a los Octavos de Final de la FA Cup al vencer 4-0 a Cardiff City, de la Segunda División, y su próximo rival será el Burnley, también de la categoría de ascenso.

Las anotaciones de la victoria de los Gunners en el estadio Emirates cayeron por cuenta del croata Eduardo da Silva, en los minutos 20 y 60, el segundo con un tiro penal, el danés Nicklas Bendtner, al 34, y el holandés Robin van Persie, al 89.

El delantero mexicano Carlos Vela saltó como titular en la ofensiva del cuadro local y sirvió para la primera anotación del encuentro, en los 74 minutos que permaneció en la cancha, hasta ser sustituido por Amaury Bischoff.

Da Silva reapareció con la camiseta de los Gunners tras un año de recuperación de la fractura de peroné y lo hizo como titular, además de marcar el primer tanto con un remate de cabeza, tras un servicio de Vela por el sector izquierdo.

El segundo gol para la causa de los locales lo consiguió el danés Bendtner, con un nuevo remate de cabeza, ahora a pase del francés Samir Nasri, con lo cual Arsenal se enfiló a obtener el pase a los Octavos de Final.

En el complemento, Eduardo fue derribado dentro del área por Joe Ledley, por lo cual el árbitro decretó la pena máxima, misma que se encargo de hacer efectiva el croata con un disparo por abajo y al centro.

Ya con tres anotaciones de ventaja, el técnico francés Arsene Wenger renovó el ataque con la salida de Eduardo y Vela para darle entrada a Bischoff y al holandés Van Persie, quien cerró la cuenta con definición dentro del área tras un contragolpe.

El delantero mexicano Carlos Vela, hizo el primero de los tres tantos con los que su equipo el Arsenal venció en el Emirates Stadium al Burnley de la Primera División de Inglaterra y avanzó a los Cuartos de Final de la FA Cup.

Gracias a los goles del artillero mexicano, al minuto 25, del también atacante, el croata Eduardo Da silva, al 51 y del defensa marfileño, Emmanuel Eboue, al 84, los "Gunners" enfrentarán en los Cuartos de Final del certamen más antiguo del balompié mundial (1872) al Hull City el próximo 18 de marzo en el mismo inmueble.

Desde el comienzo, el Arsenal, se lanzó en busca de marcador y en el minuto 11 dio el primer aviso con el disparo del mediocampista Kieran Gibbs de pierna izquierda que salió por afuera de la meta defendida por Brian Jensen.

Minutos más tarde, el volante ruso Andrei Arshavin abrió el esférico hacia el costado izquierdo que llegó a los pies de Carlos Vela, quien sin dudar sacó un zurdazo que dejó sin opciones al guardameta del Burnley para inaugurar el marcador y así conseguir su primera anotación en este certamen.

Diez minutos más adelante, mandó su segundo cambio y entre aplausos el público londinense recibió la entrada del atacante Theo Walcott, quien no jugaba desde noviembre, en lugar de Da Silva.

Ya sin presión, con gran posesión de balón, el Arsenal se encontró con el tercero debido a la buena jugada de sus defensas el camerunés Alexandre Song Billong y de Eboue, quien de derecha bateó al cancerbero para sellar el definitivo 3-0.

La llegada más peligrosa de la visita arribó a la meta del polaco Lukasz Fabianski hasta el minuto 86 tras un disparo del defensa escocés Steven Caldwell. Ya sin más ocasiones de gol, el árbitro Christopher Foy hizo sonar su silbato y concluyó el partido.

Con el gol, el mexicano Carlos Vela, pone en aprietos al estratega Arsene Wenger para el próximo miércoles en busca de un puesto en el once titular, cuando en el partido de vuelta el Arsenal en el Estadio Olímpico visite a la Roma dentro de los Octavos de Final de la Champions League.

Arsenal, equipo en el que milita el mexicano Carlos Vela, avanzó a Semifinales de la Copa de Inglaterra al levantarse de un 0-1 en contra para vencer 2-1 al Hull City, en juego disputado en el Emirates Stadium ante una buena entrada.

Las anotaciones de los Gunners fueron de Robin van Persie al minuto 73 y de William Gallas al 83, para recuperarse de la ventaja que había tomado el Hull City con el tanto que Nick Barmby había conseguido apenas a los 13 de tiempo corrido.

El mexicano Carlos Vela abandonó la cancha al minuto 64 al ser sustituido por Samir Nasri luego de que pesó muy poco durante el tiempo que estuvo en el terreno de juego.

Arsenal se medirá en una de las semifinales del torneo al Chelsea, mientras que la otra la disputarán el Manchester United contra el Everton, en partidos a realizarse los próximos 18 y 19 de abril.

Para querer avanzar a las Semifinales del torneo inglés, el conjunto local tuvo una pobre producción al frente ya que le costó un poco de trabajo llegar con jugada elaborada por lo bien plantada que estuvo la zaga visitante mientras que al frente generó peligro.

Y en la primera llegada que tuvo ante el marco defendido por Lukasz Fabianski puso el marcador 1-0 en jugada que inició con un despeje largo desde su propia meta, la zaga del Arsenal desvió y nada hubiera pasado si se va a tiro de esquina.

Sin embargo, recuperaron el esférico pero lo entregaron al rival que en un centro al área encontró a Barmby, quien de media vuelta sacó disparo que Joahn Djourou desvió para vencer a Fabianski con gran anotación a los 13 minutos de juego.

Arsenal tuvo que recurrir a los disparos de larga distancia que le redituaron pocos resultados pues pasaron muy desviados de la meta de Boaz Myhill, otros más pegaron en los postes o fueron desviados
por el arquero visitante. Así se fueron al descanso.

Los Gunners realizaron un mejor segundo tiempo y se adueñaron de las acciones y generaron llegadas que bien pudieron terminar en gol pero al momento de hacer contacto con el balón, tanto Abou Diaby
como Robin van Persie lo hicieron de manera defectuosa.

Después de tanta insistencia, por fin Arsenal logró el gol del empate cuando al minuto 73 tras una serie de rebotes dentro del área rival, Andrei Arshavin retrasó a Van Persie, quien remató a placer
para hacer el 1-1 y de esa forma coronar el buen partido que brindó.

Con la confianza que le dio emparejar el resultado, Arsenal se lanzó por el tanto del triunfo que consiguió al minuto 83 en un centro lejano que el portero Myhill no supo cortar entre dos atacantes y un defensa para dejar el balón en Gallas que remató sin problemas para el 2-1, aunque en aparente fuera de lugar.

Ya con el pase a las semifinales en la bolsa, el conjunto local llegó a placer ante el arco rival para ampliar el marcador pero no tuvo la calma para terminar las jugadas por lo que se tuvo que conformar con el 2-1.

El trabajo del árbitro Mike Riley fue aceptable y por Arsenal amonestó a William Galas, mientras que por Hull City mostró cartón preventivo a Peter Halmosi, Boaz Myhill, Andy Dawson, Ryan France y a Alberto Mateus Contreir Goncalves Manucho.

Arsenal striker Vela recovering from ankle injury


LONDON — Arsenal striker Carlos Vela is recovering from an ankle injury he picked up during international duty with the Mexico national team, his agent said.

Vela's absence in Arsenal's first two games of the season had led to speculation that the club may have been looking to move him out on loan. He was not present for Arsenal's 6-1 victory at Everton in the Premier League on Saturday or the 2-0 defeat of Celtic in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

Reports have linked him with a season-long loan move to Fulham as part of a deal for defender Brede Hangeland.

Vela's agent Eduardo Hernandez said the 20-year-old is recovering from an injury to his right ankle picked up during the CONCACAF Gold Cup tournament and that Arsenal is resting him as a precaution. It was not immediately clear when Vela would be fit.

Hernandez did not address the speculation over a possible loan move.

Last season was Vela's first with Arsenal. He made 14 Premier League appearances, but only twice as a starter and he scored one goal. He made eight Champions League appearances, six as a substitute and also scored a hat trick in the League Cup.

El técnico del club Arsenal, el francés Arsene Wenger, confirmó la participación del delantero mexicano Carlos Vela en el primer partido de los Gunners dentro de la Carling Cup 2009-2010, mañana martes ante el West Brom.

Wenger, fiel a sus declaraciones donde indicó que daría más minutos de juego a los jóvenes futbolistas, dio a conocer la lista de jugadores que disputarán el encuentro de la Carling, en la que figura Vela.

"Ustedes verán jugar (al polaco) Wojciech Szczesny, (al galés) Aaron Ramsey, (al inglés) Kieran Gibbs, (al francés) Armand Traore, (al inglés) Jack Wilshere y por supuesto a Carlos Vela," explicó Wenger en conferencia de prensa.

Este juego representará el primer partido de la temporada para Vela, quien sufrió una lesión en el tobillo que lo privó de participar en los encuentros eliminatorios con la Selección de México ante Costa Rica y Honduras.

Por último, el estratega galo destacó que el partido será apoyado por jugadores de experiencia, como los defensas, Philippe Senderos y Mikael Silvestre, "a pesar de la presencia de jugadores más jóvenes de lo que se tiene acostumbrado".

Con un gol del mexicano Carlos Vela, Arsenal se impuso este martes 2-0 a West Bromwich Albion en el Emirates Stadium, en cotejo correspondiente a la tercera ronda de la Carling Cup.

Los goles del triunfo fueron obra de Sanchez Watt, al minuto 68 y un tanto del azteca Carlos Vela, quien viene de recuperarse de una lesión en el tobillo, selló el marcador al 76.

Desde los primeros minutos, los gunners hicieron valer su condición de locales y se fueron a la ofensiva, el defensa Kieran Gibbs fue el primero en escaparse y mandó un gran centro; sin embargo Leon Barnett se encontraba bien parado y logró bloquearlo.

Al minuto cuatro, el suizo Philippe Senderos trató de sorprender con la cabeza pero se encontraba bastante lejos, por lo que los pupilos del italiano Roberto Di Matteo pudieron controlar y se dieron tiempo para plantarse bien en la cancha.

A pesar de lo anterior, "La Sinfónica de Londres" supo mantener la pelota y el mediocampista Jack Wilshere comenzó a darle juego a su escuadra, la cual empezó a llegar más al área rival, Wilshere intentó abrir el marcador tras un tiro de esquina al 14, pero el arquero irlandés Dean Kiely se quedó con el balón.

Ambos conjuntos comenzaron a tener llegadas, por lo que a partir del minuto 18 ambas defensivas dieron lo mejor de sí y evitaron en todo momento que los rivales se acercaran siquiera al área chica.

WBA quería conseguir la ventaja antes de irse al descanso, y al no lograrlo comenzaron a desesperarse, lo cual se vio reflejado al 37, cuando Jerome Thomas, impotente, comenzó a tener una actitud violenta, lo que le valió la expulsión.

Después de quedarse con un jugador menos, los visitantes dejaron de atacar y se pararon muy bien en su área, dedicándose sólo a mandar pases largos, dejando el juego completamente abierto.

Para la segunda parte "The Baggies West Brom Albion" continuaron a la defensiva y se encerraron en su mitad de la cancha, lo cual fue aprovechado por el técnico francés ArsŠne Wenger, quien realizó algunos cambios.

Con un jugador de más, Wenger mandó a toda su artillería en pos de abrir el marcador y al 58' el tricolor Carlos Vela entró al campo.

En cuanto ingresó, el mexicano comenzó a hacer sudar a los visitantes y al 68' realizó el primer disparo de pierna izquierda, el cual el arquero pudo despejar; sin embargo el rebote caería a Watt, quien metió tremendo derechazo, imposible para Kiely.

Con el marcador a su favor, los gunners hicieron lo que quisieron, por lo que el Albion se dedicó a esperar algún error, el cual llegó al 73' y el delantero Luke Moore logró escaparse por la derecha; sin embargo, al final su tiro salió desviado.

Al 76', el seleccionado mexicano se encargó de incrementar la ventaja y puso el 2-0 definitivo, este es el primero tanto del azteca en la temporada, con el cual logró que su equipo se instalara en los Octavos de Final de la Carling.

Ahora, Arsenal se medirá con Liverpool, que se impuso 1-0, en su visita al Estadio Elland Road, a Leeds United; el solitario gol fue obra del francés David Ngog, al 66.

Recalcó que Vela necesita tiempo de recuperaciónEl francés Arsene Wenger, quien dirige al Arsenal, aseguró que el delantero mexicano Carlos Vela esta dentro de sus planes con el primer equipo luego que el lunes pasado surgió un nuevo rumor que lo quería el Xerez de España.

Una prueba de lo anterior fue su participación en la Carling Cup donde marcó diferencia a la hora que ingresó al terreno de juego al minuto 58 donde contribuyó en el primer gol y marco el segundo al 76
contra el West Bromwich Albion, en duelo de la tercera ronda.

Además mencionó que Vela es un jugador versátil que lo puede ocupar en cualquier sector del terreno de juego, situación que facilitará más su participación en la Liga Premier, en la cual no había tenido acción debido a que se encontraba en recuperación de una lesión en el tobillo derecho.

"Por supuesto que (Vela) está en mis planes, puede jugar como extremo también. Puede jugar de par, a la derecha de ancho, puede jugar el centro, te da muchas opciones". señaló el galo al portal oficial del club.

Wenger comentó que el delantero mexicano necesita más tiempo de recuperación para estar al ciento por ciento, por lo que ayer no jugó desde el inicio.

"Carlos necesita más tiempo, no está listo. Ni siquiera estaba listo para comenzar ayer, necesita más tiempo para trabajar", señaló Wenger, quien considera al quintanarroense como un delantero nato.

"Tenemos a Robin van Persie, a Nicklas Bendtner, a Eduardo y a Vela como delanteros", agregó.

Por lo anterior Wenger dejó en claro que esta en sus planes el atacante azteca para la presente temporada aunque no de titular indiscutible, además rompió el rumor presentado en el portal Tribalfootball donde se mencionó que el Xerez de España estaba interesado en los servicios de Carlos Vela.

Vela has failed to command a place in the Gunners starting XI since joining in 2005 and the Mexico forward is eager for first team football to aid his country's World Cup challenge.

Vela had hoped for a regular berth in the Arsene Wenger's side following the departure of Emmanuel Adebayor but has been unable to stake a claim after suffering an ankle injury early this season.

Since returning to fitness, the Mexico international has managed only one appearance for Arsenal this term - as a substitute in the 2-0 Carling Cup win over West Brom.

The 20-year-old, who has already had spells on loan in Spain at Salamanca and Osasuna, could be geared for another stint in La Liga with Xerez desperately needing a goalscorer to lift them off the foot of the table.

"We are looking to bring in a forward who can stop the lack of goals in the team," a Xerez spokesperson said.

Don't hold your breathe, Carlos is Wengers last resort unfortunently. The only reason he's seen any playin time so far is because Nasri n Walcott is injured. Rocisky is at full fitness, Bentner has been on form this season, Eduardo has been suprising Van Persie is just straight quality and Arshavin has scored 9 goals in his past 6 matches and that 17yr old Ramsey has been impressive since last season and has been Wengers go to kid before Vela(before injury) . Plus Wenger actually wants to buy ANOTHER forward in January. When Nasri n Walcott recover Vela probably won't even be on the bench.

He needs to leave Arsenal for a lower EPL club-big fish in a small pond not visa versa.

Arsene Wenger will not renew his interest in Marouane Chamakh in January as he feels the void left by Robin van Persie's injury can be filled by Carlos Vela - a striker the Arsenal boss is hoping to tie to a new contract.

With Van Persie out with an ankle injury and Nicklas Bendtner also sidelined, Eduardo started as the lone striker against Sunderland on Saturday and Arsenal produced a poor performance to lose 1-0 at the Stadium of Light.

Speculation had arisen that after showing such strong interest in Bordeaux striker Chamakh over the summer, Wenger could make a new bid for the Morocco international who is out of contract at the end of the season in an attempt to strengthen his attacking options when the transfer window opens.

But Wenger is adamant he will not test Bordeaux's resolve any further and has, typically, invested his faith in a 20-year-old player already on his books and who has attracted comparisons with one of the most prolific strikers in Premier League history.

"At the moment I am inclined to say no "about going back for Chamakh) because I feel we have enough quality," Wenger told the club's official website. "Also I want to give a chance to Carlos Vela who comes back from injury and has great performances in training.

"Bordeaux are very reluctant (to sell). The player will be free to sign where he wants but they will not get a lot of money for three months more (on this contract). They are reluctant because I cannot see how they can get a player of the same quality and it will be stupid for them to sell him if they are qualified in the Champions League to make, what, £1 million Euros? They can make three times that if they have a good run in the Champions League."

On Vela, Wenger added: "We are extending his contract at the moment. We are in a situation where we get these players in at 15 or 16 and work very hard for five years with them. After that we do not want to give them away.

"At the moment we have very good young players but the players in front of them are young as well, so it is a bit harder for this generation than it was for the generation of Denilson and Fabregas.

"Vela is a fantastic talent and he is 20-years-old. We have invested a lot of time for him because we put him in Spain for two years, got him back and now we work with him every day I believe he is a Robbie Fowler-type. He needs very little time to make a decision in the box. He is relaxed when he finishes and he has very short backlift. He is as well left-footed and he is a similar size."

Arsenal secured the signing of Vela from Guadalajara in November 2005 following his impressive performances at the Fifa Under-17 World Cup and he spent successive loan spells at Celta Vigo, Salamanca and Osasuna when awaiting the necessary documentation to play in England.

He made his debut in a 3-0 win over Newcastle in August 2008 and has proved prolific in the Carling Cup, scoring five goals in four games in the competition. However, he has scored only once in 15 Premier League appearances.

Vela played a good productive game. It felt to me that the other gunners were more selfish towards the end cus they were up. Vela had 2 great goal chances and he didn't take advantage. First was a corner that bounced around then landed by Vela, Vela shot at an open net 2 yards away! And hit the post. The second chance Fabragas sent a perfect through ball to Vela, vela then let it run into the box made this great cut back left his defender on the ground he turned to shoot and shanked it! Other then that he made great passes and made plays of the ball.

I still think Vela should leave, I think im the only one who believes it would be the best bet for him. He needs to join a club where he will become a starter, some where he would be counted on more. Just because Arsenal is such a huge club ppl look past the fact he's not gettin PT or enough exp. Look at Guardado and Moreno they start every game and they have became huge players for their team and even getting they're chance in CL n EL. Deportivo type teams are perfect for Vela and Gio. What ppl don't understand bigger clubs (Ars, ManU, RM, MC, etc) wont give u the whole arm around the shoulder kind of coaches to comfort younger/foreign players. Which in my opinion they need.

The reason this is, is because these top clubs have bigger things to worry about ( CL, winning the league and cups) because they can afford to. But when u have a 6-15 spot in the table club, they don't worry about all those things. They worry about players, the club and hopefully getting even a wiff of a European spot. This is where players like them need to be, period.

Has anyone been watching the Arsenal games? it seems like the rest of the team doesnt pass to Vela at all. He makes these awesome passes and runs off the ball well but no one ever passes to him... i feel bad for him because it seems like his team mates dont believe in him enough to give him the ball. I know thats rough to say but its the truth, you cant say they ARE passing to him enough if you watch the games. And obviously thats not good at all for his confidence.

I agree. We've only seen 'sparks' from him in the premier... and has made evident he uses his body well, has good dribbling, and has a nice touch when finishing. However his 'real' potential can only be seen in 90 minutes.

I have no problem with him coming off the bench, but I just hate it when he comes in. A midfielder like Merida (who is leaving the club) comes in the 63rd minute while Vela comes in the 84 to replace a Eduardo who was ineffective the whole game. Wegner is disappointing me. :tsk:

It seems to me he seems content in his role right now, because he signed that long contract. Plus he doesnt shoot enough for me, i havent seen the kid shoot from past the penalty box this season. He needs to give himself more chances and make things happen. Velas not getting much playing time now, can you imagine when Walcott, Nasri, Bendtnar, and Van Persie come back? wtf he wont see sh!t, and he hasnt been scoring goals to make Wenger put him in over them. And Walcott is supposed to be back for the cup match against Bolton on Wednesday so we'll see what happens.

I dont think i would care so much if the World Cup wasnt coming up in 5 months but this kid needs consistent playing time. And hes not gonna get it, and he hasnt earned it either. I just hope this doesnt hurt his WC performance.

LONDON — Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes striker Carlos Vela can still make the Mexico squad for the World Cup later this year despite his season being interrupted by injuries.

Vela, who turns 21 on March 1, has made only 17 appearances for Arsenal in all competitions this season - 12 as a substitute - and has scored only one goal in the League Cup.

There have been concerns in Mexico that Vela's lack of playing time will hinder the country's chances at the June 11-July 11 tournament in South Africa.
