hey all, does anybody know what the symbols on the portuguese jersey represent?
or where i can find the info. on this?

The cross?! that's The symbol of the "Federação Portuguesa de Futebol", wich is very similar to the symbol of the flag used by the portuguese discoverers in 1500.

I think it's based in the Portuguese Coat-of-arms and the flag used by the discoverers, the cross evoluted from the Criste's order cross, the 5 blue shields, that also form a cross, have several interpretations. One says that D.Afonso Henriques (1rst King of Portugal) implemented it on the coat-of-arms to honor Jesus after an aparition before a great battle. All the elements are found on the actual Portuguese flag, except the red cross.

It sure is a beautiful flag to say the least, much nicer than My own Countries flag which happens to be the Canadian Flag, not that iam not proud of being Canadian simply the Portuguese flag looks much cooler. You got to love them wine colored Portuguese jerseys one of the nicest of any team in this WC
