I've read on some portals that 3-4 Ecuador's players were caught on illegal drugs. I don't know what to think about it, but it's a serious case, and f****** unfair towards Poland and Costa Rica, as Ecuador goes to the round of 16, and not the team is disqualified, but the players :@
I'll check it up again in a few days to see if it's not just a rumor, maybe we'll see something from FIFA.
If it's true - things like that should be taken seriously. FIFA should kick Luis Suarez out of his job AT LEAST. If he told the players to use the drugs, he shouldn't be able to be a trainer in any football team/club.

And the source of such rumors is...?
Because I couldn't find anything on the news.
And if such a poisonous rumor is thrown in the air just for the heck of it, a lot of people -well intentioned or not- is going to listen and next thing you know, a team's reputation is ruined because of some shithead's feverish imagination.
I highly doubt that there is any truth behind this. And if they did take any drugs then it really didnt show. I only saw good plays in both their games, no super amazing athleticism.

I sure hope there is no truth in this story. I always like to see fair play between all teams involved.

its not true.
its just that most of our players are from the coastal area, and over there, they eat nothing but "encebollado y fritada" (fish and steak=alot of protein).
there built well, but most Ecuadorians are, plus, were more african than some actual african teams:D (i hope ya'll get the joke)

please stop hateing.
even the german team and coach say that we play one of the best 4-4-2 in the worlds.
regardless of your excuses for our hard work, the fact of the matter is that when you beat argentina and brazil, your mentality changes. THATS whats important here.
not whether we play above or below sea level, but our quality of play.
you europeans may hate us, but ask ANY S. american and theyll tell ya, Ecuador are a solid side.

Obviously the germans aren't gonna say u guys suck, but u think before the tournament they would have said u guys are one of the best 4-4-2 teams in the world. I think not. Once again u say they are a solid team, but everyone not just us Europenas but the Americans as well, the media, the analysts all said u guys suck away from home and all of the sudden u guys are playing like Brazil.

I think Ecuador is playing better because they aproached these games with a different mentality. In the first world cup they went they should have done better, but because it was the first WC for them they were intimidated by the whole thing.
Now they are playing with personality, they even seemed relaxed against Costa Rica.

In summary, some of the posters here believe that since Ecuador is not a football superpower, they can't beat anybody and if they do, they must be using drugs.
What a pile of crap!
If that were the case, what's the point of playing the WC at all? Shouldn't FIFA award the Cup to the top ranked team without even playing the games?
Ecuador played great against Poland, perhaps helped by the fact the Polish underestimated them (their loss!). Then went on to beat Costa Rica which was a perfectly reasonable result. They fully deserved to qualify and everybody in South America is rooting for them to advance further.

i agree 100% and i am rooting for them too!! but i have to admit i was a bit pissed off when ecuador beat croatia in 2002. i lost money on that game. they are very good and i hope they go far!

i hope so too!;)
but i agree with you on what u said in another thread, about austraulia. if they make it out, they could go very far, depending on who they play 2nd round. there solid, i liked there performance against brazil.

This doping rumor sounds rather made up. They do farely stringent drug tests before games (I think) and thus I doubt that 3-4 players could somehow slip by the system. Good luck Ecuador against England!
