I like Viana I think he is a wonderful player and he did come on in the second half off the bench. I think he just has been going on a bit of bad apples and Iam sure he can be a valued player on this team. I hope to see alot more of him in the upcoming games. A young bright playmaker with a good vision for the players around him.

Hopefully Deco will be ready for the Iran game, from what I have been reading he should indeed be rarin to go. This way Figo can go back to his usual flank position where he over a glorious career as excelled. They call him old MAn figo but did you see him spring right by that defender and make the perfect pass to pauleta? Still got some steamin them old legs. He played well in the Angola game.

I disagree with Viana because hes a good player overall, then again your right only because at the very present he has been playing poorly and that is without question, but i see him play quite often for Valencia and there is also no doubt that he has talent. He is going through a dry spell and its clearly affecting his play. Boa Morte I myself think never should have been on the team above a player like the Quaresma, I mean this youngster runs the show over at Porto and has tons of pure talent and one day will certainly be up there with the best in the game. How about Joao Moutinho from Sporting, another youngster with alot of talent and bright future that was overlooked. Hopefully Big phil knows what he is doing. But if you ask me it could only have been a great thing to bring these 2 young talents along, instead of morte and tiago.

Viana, Tiago and Simao barely trained with this team. The friendlies these last two years were all wasted to make absurd, seemingly random 2nd half changes, instead on working on a routined A-team (4-5-1) and a B-team for other solutions (4-4-2, maybe, or does Scholari not expect to find another solid, defensive team like Greece on the way? We won't be pampered like Brasil was in 2002, after all, Argentina's coming next).
"Half-time? Mmmm, time to place in 3 popular players in positions they never played before, so that people think my first choice of players is the right one." - Insight on Scholari's thoughts.
I mean, look at Portugal-Rep. Ireland game, second half, no wingers, no forwards and 4 rearwings?! Yeah, Viana and Tiago are no good, it must be their fault we tied...
They look slow? Try playing for the first time in a team that you don't know. Simao's great in Benfica, domestically and internationally, the same can be said of Tiago in Lyon. It's too late to integrate them now, though.
As to Viana, he doesn't look so good, but I personally think he can still grow if he's given a chance - but in a league, not on the NT in the WC finals! But who cares if we lose points because Scholari thinks of this team as his personal playground! And if the coach wanted him to play, howcome he never started a game? Not even on a friendly!

Good post. The bottom line is you have to go with the players that the coach picked and support them 100% I myself dont agree with some of the players that where picked for this team however its a done deal where into our second game soon and just have to give them all our support. Hopefully Viana will come around and play some good football, hopefully the team will only get better and better with each game. I strongly feel they will in fact play a stronger game with Iran and I see our midfield having a much stronger impact than they did against angola. I will Also Be Cheering for Angola the rest of the way. They play with alot of heart and its simply nice to see Them being here and playing with all the troubles that country has had. I think this in the end will be a very positive step forward for Angola Toward peace and resolve as well being a step forward in the nations football.
