Galatasaray will play in the 3rd qualifying round of the 2006-2007 Champions League, according to finalised entries announced by UEFA on Wednesday.
Galatasaray, as a seeded team, could face any of 15 possible unseeded teams: Fiorentina, Austria Wien, Osasuna, Spartak Moscow, Dinamo Zagreb, Red Star Belgrade, Hearts FC, Maccabi Haifa, Standard Liege, FC Kobenhavn (Denmark), Legia Warsaw, DVSC Debrecen (Hungary), Valengeren (Norway), FC Zurich, or Djurgardens (Sweden). Fenerbahce are also in the 3rd qualifying round, unseeded, but will not have a chance to face Galatasaray because both teams are from the same country.
Galatasaray defender Orhan Ak, who recently signed a four-year extension to his contract with the club, said this week that the team is eager for European success and capable of getting through the qualifying round. "Our eyes are on Europe. It's important for our club and country to be successful in the Champions League. We need to pass the elimination rounds, and our team is strong enough to achieve that," he said.

FB still has to get past the second round to get to the 3rd round and if some of teams in the 2nd round get disqualified then Fener have a chance to seeded as well.

Do you guys actually expect to succeed in the CL? I can see u guys getting to the group stages, but no further than that if you guys dont make any more improvements. Fenerbahce was beaten by Milan 4-0, this is the same FB who beat you 4-0 so technically u guys would have been beaten 8-0 and that is only Milan.

Come on man, be realistic. The only reason why we didn't get a good beating in Italy against AC Milan was the superb performance of Anelka, Alex and Appiah. But look at your team, you've got no players that can be possibly compared to our foreigners. Unless you make some big time transfer, forget Champions League. You might be consistant in Turkey because GS players know that is the only place where they can succeed, but you will get trashed against a good opposition the same way you got trashed against Fenerbahce.

How did you prove you're better? You lost 1-0 in Ali Sami Yen, you lost 4-0 in Sukru Saracoglu. You got knock out of the Turkish Cup by Fenerbahce. Where did you exactly prove you're better, because you got crowned champions this year in TSL? That doesn't prove anything, we beat you, we just stumbled up on the small teams.

man utd will slip further down the premiership behind liverpool and arsenal and spurs and wont even qualify next year. or theyll get knocked out in the group stages.again.or before(what was it happened last time we met?:p )

even if we had our paf takim out we could beat anyone at home in europe with galatasaray passion and pride alone. away wed need acombination of tactics and luck against the likes of barcelona and milan. but so would they.

we defo will pass at least one round of european competition though unlike...
