lol, mexico is not going to win the world cup. they'll face holland or argentina in the second round and go home... i think they're respectable teams to lose to tho, shouldnt upset mexican fans as much as losing to the US in 02' WC, 2-0

im worried about Iran. A few of their top players are injured.
Vahid Hashemian
Ali Karimi
Mehdi Mahdavikia
Fereydon Zandi
All 4 play in Bundesliga.
If they all get well in time for mexico, Iran will win. If not they will draw.
Mexico has a weak offense and Iran has a weak defense.

Hey Reza don't worry, the coach has said they are fine and ready for mexico match. Iran Wins or Loses , they are not a Draw team. By the way Mexico has too much fighting going on, their coach is not so great and is stressing mexican players. The only top player they have is Kikin.

06-05-2006, 05:33 AM
Ahhahahahh and ricoo makes a big deal of mexicans hyping the NT. Iran definitely wont get the first place of the group. Portugal will totally be over u with their awesome offense. Ali Karimi top goalscorer of asia. WTF Borgetti top goalscorer of concacaf and the whole world in the preliminaries. Yes its just concacaf but WTF the AFC is even behind concacaf I mean Laos, Bahrain, Uzbekistan, etc. neither korea, iran or japan are at Mexicos or the USA’s level. Plus u have 4 key players injuries. Including karimi.

LMAO, u base which team is better on the last result. Mexico vs Brazil. Last result Mexico 1 0 Brazil in the confederations. Brazil had everyone except ronaldo while mexico had everyone except for marquez and blanco. Does that mean mexico is better? Of course not.
If u say Iran is better than the usa because of that result then ud have to say mexico is better than brazil.

Mexicans are aggressive and cause too many injuries. Brazil dont give a damn about any other teams unless its a serious match.

Ali,
you are mentioning France 98, but that was not their last match. They played a friendly in 99 which ended in a 1 all draw.
USA, imho, is one of the most improved teams. And I just dont know if we can get the same results today.

Yeah definetely, hes been doing nothing since he joined the team in france. Even he admitted not being 100% fit as he wanted too. Borgetti and Omar or Kikin need to start against iran cuz I just dont think guille will do it well. Ne ways they need more communication between their mids and fws. From what ive seen these past friendlies they’ve generated way to many scoring chances.

Exactly, but don't waste your breath dude, these Mexicans are ultra ignorant and nothing more than a bunch of pendejos, comemierdas, que les guta el burrito por el orto.
Mexico sucks balls, Mexicans can't even say they rule Concaca, b/c the US has spanked their nasty, dirty behinds for some time now, including in the WC.
Mexico will suck yet again in the WC, best case scenario they will make it to the second round (b/c if they don't make it, well talk about embarrassment and humilation) where they WILL BE ELIMINATED AGAIN for the 100th time by either Argentina or Holland.
But remember even then these Mexicans will try to make excuses and say that it was a tremendous accomplishment to make it "that far". Let's just make sure we all tell them otherwise and how much they truly suck, tercos de mierda, ignorantes.

Mexico is actually my second favorite team in the cup behind the US. Can't your fans are favorites of mine, the whole Osama Bin Laden chant was I think both inpolite and a low blow. (Like Chanting Hail Hitler in Israel) but I know that doesn't necessarily reflect upon their players.
Personally, I'm to the point where I'd like to see every single arrogant, spoiled, obnoxious, whiny, disrespectful European team go out in the first round.
That won't happen but I'd sure like to see it.
But I will laugh my butt off while I watch Brazil kick the living crap out of all of them.
Sorry to sterotype the whole contient but I feel like half of the Europeans I talk to have some kind of massive supierority complex that I just don't feel from Asians, South Americans, Africans, Aussies, and other North Americans.

I think that's a fair statement. I think both teams are at the same level overall.
Back to the games, I'm really curious to see how the Mexico vs Iran game plays out. It's hard for me to really make a pic because I just really don't have any access to watching the Iranian team. From what I have read, they will no doubt be difficult opponent. This pic would have to be one that I make on pure heart. I of course would go with Mexico. But from what I have read I wouldn't be surprised if Iran won. On heart alone Mexico 2 Iran 1.

Hey MexicanAmerican? Are you that dude from that sci-fi movie "Goals: The Movie: Sucks" lol
I'm sorry I heard that movie blowed big time (and they are planning on two sequels) I guess the studio wants to go bankrupt asap, since I think it only lasted like a week in the theaters.

Lucky for me I'm not that dude. I'd kick my own ass if I saw that movie.
I'll be rooting for both teams. My parents are Mexican and I was born here. So I have a lot of pride in having Mexican roots and having been born here.
But being that my dad watched most of the Mexican League Soccer and always has watched more of the Mexican National Team, it's become a part of me. So if I have to rate them I go :
1. Mexico
2. USA (very close second)
3. Brazil. I love the way the play the game. It almost looks like a bunch of kids having a great time playing which most teams should take note of that. What about yourself? Who do you root for?

Wow the US beats Mexico quite a bit. . . (Typically it depends on where they are playing but the US does better on Neutral pitches)
So would you be willing to admit that the US is in the same zone. . . Top of middle class/bottom of world class?
Yes, you are right.. USA and Mexico along with others are in the same zone.. still far from top world class.. but in the right path...

he was a starter before he got injured and you compare bolton with bayern, unbeleivable!

Dude don't worry about what caruiz posts, he is an idiot. I can't believe he still praises Borgetti for being the official waterboy at Bolton.
Karimi is 100 times better than Borgetti and yes there's no comparison between Bolton and Bayern, Borgetti in Bayern wouldn't even be the waterboy, he'd be the janitor or suspender-boy.

Borgetti is good. But he doesnt start for Bolton so obviously he's not good enough. I think he'll have a good showing here tho regardless. I've only seen a few of Karimi's goals and he's no slouch. We'll have our hands full. I'm going to say he's better than Borgetti since he can create his own goals where Borgetti is more of a poacher.

We have a few players that are fairly decent and will perform well.
Can you be more specific? You make blanket statements/generalizations about Mexican people rather than the team itself. What exactly is your point?
Any mindless monkey can talk shit but you gotta get the point already.
IMO, Bravo is fairly decent. lacks some size but against Iran and Portugal he should be OK. Kikin should also be good. Guardado and of course Oswaldo should shine.
I wish Suarez was left off the team but oh well.

Yes, Everybody has hopes on their team making far in the wc. Who doesnt? I know u r new, so obviously u dont see the dumb things ur fellow country mates write on a constant basis. If u look around u will see threads with the names "Mexico the powerhouse" "Mexico the next wc champs" and many mexicans diminishing the Libertadores cup, claiming to be better than/or at the same level of Argentina, not to mention very insulting posts (which was the reason I first got warned, because I'm not a robot and tried to defend myself). Basically what I dislike about ur team (and only ur team, not ur actual country) is all the arrogance that these mexicans talk with, without ever having won anything. Not even Brazilians talk crap, From what I have seen dinho is very humble and respectful towards other teams, we have put many examples here before of mexicans posting absurdities, so I sometimes feel obliged to put them in their place. At the end, everyone has a right to their opinions and a right to debate about it. Thats the way I see it, If there is no debating and everyone is a robot then there would be no point in posting on this forum. But I agree, lets keep it clean and lets continue to talk football. ;)

And I mean in any decision he takes. If he stays well I just hope this doesn’t keep him from concentrating, and if he goes to guadalajra, lets hope ochoa or corona do a great job,and don’t disappoint us.

Blanco would be ineffective at the WC. I think its the one good move Lavolpe made.
Tell me, how many goals did Blanco make this last season?
I do think Blanco (in times past) generates some good plays as well as generates his own goals which is something we usually lack. But Blanco this last year has been hurt and has been off his game. There is no reason for him to be on the team at this point in time.

Dude you are sad, even though I dislike Mexico's soccer for you not to pull for your country is pathetic, and even worse to say you will pull Germany then??!!!
I think Mexico is overhyped but I definitely understand their fan support.
You are caca.
Almost all of my family is from Iran (I was born in Germany), I'm Armenian (they speak Armenian and Persian in Iran, I can only speak Armenian, but the adults in my family can speak both) I picked Iran to win (money on the line), so I'm rooting for Iran to win. I'm thinking Iran will win 1-0 or 2-1.

Iran versus Mexico
Sam Fakhimi
Nuremberg, Iran’s national team has concluded its preparation for Sunday’s group D test against COCACAF power Mexico. Both sides have suffered recent setbacks with the passing of the father of Mexico’s keeper Oswaldo Sanchez and an injury to influential Iranian midfielder Fereydoon Zandi .
Team Melli has received encouraging news with coach Branko Ivankovic proclaiming the fitness of stars Ali Karimi and Mehdi Mahdavikia. With the return of the Bundesliga based midfielders, Iran’s lineup is now at relative full strength.
Mexico will field its full A-team lineup with the expected return of Sanchez who is set to join his national side Saturday evening. Mexico’s captain Rafael Marquez has issued a statement of support to the Sanchez family and a fully inspired Mexican side is to be expected.
Other stories of interest for this match includes the battle of veterans. Mexico’s Claudio Suarez and Iran’s captain Ali Daei are two of the oldest participants in World Cup 2006. Each is 37 years of age with Daei winning 147 caps for Team Melli, while Suarez has 178 caps for the Mexican side.
The two sides have met once in a friendly played in the United State in 2000 with Mexico winning 2-1. Both Ali Daei and Mehdi Mahdavikia participated in that match.
Ivankovic has yet to indicate his starting 11. The lone question seems to be the choice to replace Zandi in the midfield. The two leading candidates are youngsters Andranik Teymoorian and left footed Mehrzad Madanchi. Expect Iran to return to Ivankovic’s preferred 4-2-3-1 with Zandi’s position being filled by a defensive midfielder likely to be Teymoorian.
Iran’s Probable Starting Lineup: Mirzapour, Kaebi, Golmohammadi, Rezaei, Nosrati, Nekounam, Mahadavikia, Karimi, Teymoorian, Hashemian, and Daei

The match was awful.... Me and my brother were watching it and we had to turn on the other channel. 1-st half was alright, but 2-nd is so damn boring. Iran sits on defence all period and mexicans don't have enough skill to overbeat them. I saw 2-nd and 3-d goal. I gotta say if they wouldn't scored 2-nd, there wouldn't be a 3-d one. Iran got depressed after 2-nd goal and that followed by weak defence that maked it 3:1

best player of the match??? id have to say rafa marquez or omar bravo. i mean 2 goals and at the end of the game they showed like statistics of passes by rafa marquez 57 correct passes while only 13 wrong
ne ways in my opinion.
1st goal. it showed that mexico has practiced their set plays
2nd goal. (iran) mexico still weak defensively on set plays
3rd goal. nice pressure from kikin to make the goalie give out the ball and a mistake by the defender followed by a great pass from zinha. it started when the goalie made that bad pass.
4th goal. 3 minutes from the other goal, so iran was down emotionally, great cross by mario mendez and a great header from zinha
im worried about what happened to borgetti, hopefuly nothing serious

1st goal-Who gave the pass from the set piece?Pardo a Mexican.Who finished it off?Bravo a Mexican.Sure Franco played a part in the play but it wasnt like it was a genious play on his part, he simply prolonged the pass.If u are going to give a foreigner credit on this play give it to Lavolpe, he practices set plays to death.
2nd goal-Who initially stole the ball and headed it to Sinha?Bravo a Mexican.Who finished the play off?Bravo a Mexican.Good pass from Sinha I agree but Bravo made 2/3rds of the play.
3rd goal-Who crossed it?Mendez a Mexican.Sinha finished it but Kikin was their anyways.
Now Im not trying to discredit the naturalized players, Ive come to accept them as part of our team...but they were by no means the difference.Franco was crap and although Sinha did play well he was not our best player.Marquez and Bravo were by far our two best players. We win this game with or without naturalized players, just like Mexico is a good team with or without them.
And whatever, keep on crying and doing everything in ur power to discredit Mexico...in the end none of ur moaning will change the fact that we won and were the better team.I mean u talk about us playing like pussies u shouldve seen that second half and how Iran played ( u probably did but hate Mexico too much to admit it and give them credit).

Umm....I am not trying to bash mexico, but its not really fair to say that the iranian goal was a fluke. Because if you look closely you can also claim that the first two mexican goals were also flukes. (the third goal was setup really well!). Its the number of goals that count, not the number of flukes or close goals.
And Even though politics played a role in the downfall of the iranian team, if they were truly a world cup team than they should have been able to overcome mexico regardless.

Ignorance is the shelter of the clumsy !
Zinha was born in Mexico, his father is Brazilian in fact - but irrelevant to the argument. The other guy was born in Argentina but has lived in Mexico for years, again irrelevant to the argument. Almost any player from Argentina has European roots, just check their last names (Colochini, Zanetti, Batistuta) - Try better arguments to scorn a good (and I say good, not excellent) performance by Mexico.

"Antonio Naelson Matiasar was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil but is now a naturalised Mexican citizen and plays his football under the name Zinha."
And yes, Most Argentines have Italian roots, thats why i think its alright for camoranesi to play for them, after all his father is italian but Zinha and Franco r 100% brazilian and Argentine, there is no reason for them to play there other than the fact that mexico lacks talent.

I agree, this really impressed me. Great sportsmanship by both teams, this is what the World Cup is all about. Respect for the opposition.

yes, very respectful what they did, and after the game they showed images of them. they took the loss with maturity. great fair play there except for that incident with the iranian player got the yellow card for kicking the ball away from the mexican player. but overall excellent.

I agree, too bad the classless Mexican fans began chanting "ole, ole" from the beggining, I mean WTF!!!!! You only chant that when you are up 5-0 or somehting like that.
The only Mexican person I good for their win si Sanchez b/c of the obvious and cuz it takes guts to go out there and play.

Why are you so happy with this result??!!! OMG you ppl are even worst than I thought. The #4 team in the planet ;) beat Iran with a mega dose of luck.
That second goal was garbish, and very late in the game, the match was destined to end in a tie but it didn't thanks to the ultra moron Iranian coach who abandoned the first half scheme where they outplayed Mexico. He even pulled Karimi!! I mean WTF was he smoking, you guys probably bribed him with a lifetime supply of nachos or something.
BTW Mexico's first goal was shit too, do you really think you guys are gonna score such crap against a semi-decent defense: No way.
The ref sucked big time, terrible calls against both sides. Terrible cup so far unfortunately after a very auspicious first day.
Best so far: Argentina
Close second: Germany, England, Ivory Coast, Holland
argentina should'd have lost, ivory coast missed badly!!
well in that case germany has several non germany born players:
podolsky
klose (both polands)
assamoah
and also french players even zidane altough he was born in france he has a 100% argelian heritage.
that's an old subject and are only used by envy people who are jelous.
franco and zinha weren't a international material in their countries of birth, and they learned a lot in mexico and made their life down there.
franco has two mexican dauhgters born in monterrey
and zinha has a mexican wife.

dude, this is typical handjob u are looking at. he will never change. hahahahah now he says we are fourth in the world. not even we say that. mexico won by luck, yea right. hahaha bad calls, yea specially the PK that the ref didnt call on a foul to rafa marquez.
if someone in this tournament has won a game and another team probably deserved it more it was argentina. and most people will agree with me. the game shouldve been a tie. also if u are going to talk about luck. luck was irans goal. lucky that after oswaldo saved a header half a meter away from him the ball ended up at the iranians player feet. what other clear chance did the iranian team have besides the header in like the fifth minute with an awesome save by oswaldo?? NONE
hahahha now an excuse is a late goal. since when is a late goal bad???besides he makes it look as if the last two goals were like in 89' and 90' +2 or something like that. fact: 76' 79'. even the iranian coach said that mexico was better that day on the field.
before the game, he said that iran had a good level but now they are lousy. am i the only one seeing contradictions here?

if we beat angola it is going to be because angola is the worst team in the world. if we beat portugal it is going to be because there were 11 players from each team, or because the boots borgetti uses are nike, or maybe because the ball was too round and the goals were too big and zinha was too small and maza very tall . i just cant wait to see their comments on mexicos games hahahhahahha

Everybody stop the hate, they won fair & square exuses just make you look dumb. They still got 2 more games before the next round. If anything,I would trash Portugal/Sweeden/England/Netherlands for the poor performances.

Not sure but I think his father has Italian roots, and he himself wasnt born in Italy...I maybe wrong but that's what I heard and I'm to lazy to look it up.Anyways there really isnt much difference with Camoranesi playing for Italy and having naturalized players, he grew up in Argentina and started playing professionally there, then played in Mexico and finally went on to play in Europe.Basically 20+ yrs were away from Italy and his last 5 or so were in Italy.Aside from that he himself has said that he is 100% Argentinian and that he is only doing it for football reasons.OK, so his grandma or something maybe Italian...well El Guille and Sinha have Mexican wives and daughters. They have direct Mexican family as well, and atleast they consider themselves Mexican unlike Camoranesi who doesnt consider himself Italian. It's really not all that different, just like these countries (ex. France) use players from colonies/territories as their own. That's BS and no different then using naturalized players, those African players live in completely different cultures and probably feel as French as u or me.It's like if the USA used someone from Puerto Rico or something, the USA owns it or whatever but that doesnt make that dude American.
Anyways, there are over 40 naturalized players in this World Cup...ur telling me that everybody else can do it but Mexico cant?***k off and quit being a hater.

uggh, we have already discussed this many times. Many of those players, for example asamoah and podolski have been living in germany since they were kids, so why not represent the country were they have been raised in? The others like trezeguet and camorenasi have direct ancestors from those european countries. Like I said before, my father is italian and I was born here in the US but if I had a chance to represent Italy I would defenitly feel obliged to do so. Never forget ur roots and culture and be proud of where ur ancestors came from. Now back to topic, do u see a pattern? Either the players have been raised in those countries or they have their blood. The only countries I see doing it for no other reason then that they suck is Japan, Tunisia ( I think) and of course Mexico, I'm sure there are other sorry teams that r doing this as well but i cant think of any right now. Only a country with no soccer history and NO TALENT would get argentines and brazilians that have no ties to that country whatsoever. :boo:

Ok if u grow up there its cool, but if u make a name for uself in soccer in that country...and if u meet ur wife and have ur kids there its not?Look I was born in Mexico, Ive been living in the USA since I was 8.Say I went to another country and met my wife and had my kids there, personally I would feel more inclined to represent that country more than the USA.Why?Because I have direct family memebers from there not from the USA.Honestly I would want to represent Mexico but if I couldnt I would go with the country that gave me my wife and kids over the country where I grew up, because u feel like ur representing ur family that way. That's basically in the istuation that Guille and Sinha are in.Im sure they would rather play with Brasil or Argentina (just like Deco and Camoranesi) but if u cant why not represent the country of ur wives and kids? They may not be from there but their loved ones are.
Personally I see it all the same...these national teams using players who have anscestors, using players from colonies/territories, etc. its all the same thing really.Bottom line is they arent born in that country.
Also what about Deco? Are u going to tell me that he may have Portuguese decent because at one point in time they owned Brasil? Then I guess if I looked far back enough I will likely find some Spanish anscestor, would that make it OK for me to play for Spain?
