Why do we have 2 threads that are exactly the same???
Anyways, it should be an easy 1st for Germany. Ecuador could give Poland a run for their money though.

The hosts are no good, but neither is any other team in its group, so...
The hosts to beat both teams from the "Americas" and either defeat or draw with Polska
Polska to get either 4 or 6 points from the matches vs. the teams from the "Americas"
Costa Rica and Ecuador to "battle it out" for 3rd place in the group. No matter which one gets it, I don't see either team advancing past Round One.

I think Germany will comfortably finish the group with 3 victories.
Everybody is saying "The German Team is not good.."
I think they are very good and they will play home and I think they will make it at least in the quarter finals. They have very good players like Ballack, Klose, etc... When they lost the friendly against Italy for 4-1 it was like an alarm bell. The friendly games after that they have been showing a Germany that scores and the players are very motivated. They want to shine in their own home.
Poland looks too weak as well as Costarica. Ecuador can pass as second in the group if their game has progressed since the last World Cup.

Why you would question that is beyond me. Yeah, it's at home and yeah, it gets all kinds of breaks in World Cups whether the World Cup is being held in Germany or not, but that doesn't take away from the fact that the current German team is NO GOOD!! It might make it to the quarterfinals and it might not. We'll see which team it has to play after Round One. But anything beyond a quarterfinal berth for this Mannschaft and I'll know that FIFA pre-arranged something to allow the hosts' team to get further than it deserved to.

I agree with you. Depend who they are going to encounter after the first round.
For sure this Germany isn't anything like 70's Germany but I believe that it is a good squad.
Unless they meet Brazil, France, Italy, Argentina, Netherlands... They should be able to advance further.
I hope only that the refereeing will be impartial and not like in Korea/Japan 2002. That it was a shame for soccer. The way they helped South Korea.

rubbishEven I will concede that they probably would have made it even if they weren't the hosts this time. They seem to have a knack for making the World Cup even when they really aren't very good. But that's about all I'll concede about this "Mannschaft." If things go the way they should, it will be out NLT the quarterfinal round this year!!

Germany will have an early exit this year but they will get past the first round. But I expect the Poles to come in 1st with Germany in second and ecuador in third. Poland is right next door to Germany and I expect a lot of poles to show up as well

Well I wouldn't say the Germany Team is no good. Its not bad and don't doubt they will finish in the top 2. I don't think they have a chance of winning the competition but think they'll do ok.

Yeah, in their group!! For the whole tournament? No way!!!

No one was expecting much from Germany in 2002 and although the draw opened up for them they did well to get to the final. Don't think they'll have such an easy route this time though but shouldn't have any probs getting through the group. I think Poland-Ecuador could be an interesting tussle for 2nd but Poland should edge through. Think I'm going whack a few quid on Germany and Poland to qualify. Found a great site as well at www.betsuccess.com which has tips and gives you free bets when signing up to new bookie to bet. Bring on the robot dance from Crouchy this Saturday!

Poland simply came out flat in their first game and paid for it. Germany is by far the best team in the group, Ecaudor got the luck of playing the uninspired Poles and a familiar Costa Rican team. The Polish team may be better than Ecaudor if each team is playing their best, but Poland did not take Ecuador seriously and it will cost them advacement to the next round.

Poland is seriously going home now... Germany & Ecuador will advance to the next round.
