View Full Version : Djoric must say
I must say I respect this man and all his decisions. Why you ask ? Well for a wide number of reasons. One is because he has brought in the new generation and replaced the older one. This is what we were all asking for wasn't it ? He has a lot of courage and it takes guts to do what he has done. Most of the guys we asked to be starters like Lazetic and Kezman are starters now. Our team like we always wanted it to be has become, a hard working, young and fast one. Another reason why this man must say is because he will not play the big names but rather the players that are doing well. Heading into the Slovenia match he told Stankovic that he will not be starting, Deki whinned and argued with him but Djoric had none of that. Deki even went as far as yelling at practice and throwing things all over the place. Important thing is Djoric stood up to him and refused to give in. This is what we always wanted right ? A guy that will stand up to our players and tell them the truth. Same goes for Kova, he also got into an argument with Djoric and again Djoric had none of it and sent him to the stands for the match against Slovenia. This is the type of man we need ! Our past coaches and us do nothing but pamper them and treat them like Gods. It is time for a little reality check for our players. Under Djoric against Slovenia it was also clearly noticeable that our boys played with heart and had never played as hard for this new "Yugoslavia". This is what we wanted right ? Finally we had players hussle and fight for the balls and not just stand around, trying to use their individual skills to salvage some points. Now ok he has made some mistakes (i.e not calling up Sasa Ilic, Bunja etc) but none of us are perfect, we all make mistakes. The point is he has done more good than harm to our team.
As can be seen the things we wanted changed in our team Djoric has done and to me he is a great coach who's decisions I will stand by and respect 100 %.

Yeah ... why doesn't he just send the whole team to the stands ?
I also respect him , because we managed to get two points in two games ... against Slovenia , and Switzerland
Both games we outplayed our opposition its not his fault Savo misses 40 chances a match, that Stankovic is so out of form and that are goalie is incapable of saving 1 km per hour shots...

I don't know how much you're going to respect him when we don't qualify for the World Cup. I do agree with many of his choices, and I am glad that the team is playing well, but grudges against players are not needed. Making Kovacevic sit on the stands for making a joke in practice is absolutely ridiculous.
If we continue like this, we're not going to qualify ... we need points desperately ... and let's not forget this :
We are satisfied with what our team showed against Slovenia, but ... how good is Slovenia really ? They lose to Uruguay at home with 2:0 if I am correct, and tie Luxemburg (?) ...
Thats true but they also tied Russia away.
Current Standings:
Russia 4 3 1 0 6:1 10
Switzerland 5 2 2 1 13:5 8
Slovenia 5 1 4 0 8:7 7
Yugoslavia 3 1 2 0 4:2 5
Faroe Islands 4 1 1 2 5:8 4
Luxemburg 5 0 0 5 1:14 0
So if we beat Russia in Belgrade we will be in second place. Ahead of the Swiss and Slovenia while still having a game in hand on them and we would be 2 points behind Russia but would also have a game in hand on them.
Counting on a win this is how things would look:
Russia 5 3 1 0 6:1 10
Yugoslavia 4 1 2 0 4:2 8
Switzerland 5 2 2 1 13:5 8
Slovenia 5 1 4 0 8:7 7
Faroe Islands 4 1 1 2 5:8 4
Luxemburg 5 0 0 5 1:14 0

WELL SAID MATE!!!!!!!! BUUUUUUUUUT TREATIN PLAYERS LIKE THAT MIGHT MAKE EM NOT WANNA B PART OF THE TEAM ANYMORE???????
I totally agree with you Grobar, we finally got a coach with balls. Kovacevic and Stankovic are way out of form; when was the last time they played a full game? This team needs some time to gell together (I hope). Now that Stankovic and Kovacevic look like they are gone, who should Djoric replace them with? Hopefully Sasa Ilic or maybe Boskovic or even Dejan Petkovic to replace Stankovic, but who to replace Kovacevic?
Well Djoric plans to go to Italy and talk to Mijat and watch this Saturday's Fiorentina match. Aswell he will have a look at and talk to Sasa Iliæ, Njeguš, and Djordje Tomiæ.

Djoric went to say that Stankovic is not in shape and gained a lot of weight, and also said that Kovacevic is out of form, and then he makes a wise decision to call Mijatovic who hasn't been playing for god knows how long. and when he does play he dosesnt run!
I don't why he doesn't call some other young player, or Glusevic, and if he wants to fill the bench with another striker just in case something happens he can call Sladjan Djukic from France(he is something like 37 but is still good, and scores regularly)!

He has gone too far with it. Not two days have passed by and he has already gotten into a fight with two key players that may not want to play for us anymore because of him. He has to go.
Miha, are you saying that Kovacevic and Stankovic are key players? I don't agree. They haven't played very well recently. They haven't even played that many minutes this season. Just because they play in Italy doesn't mean they should play for the National Team.
Nemanja does bring up a good point though, why is Djoric so interested in Mijatovic? He is not as bad as Stankovic but he is not the same player he was before WC 98.

I don't think that we will miss Stankovic at all, Kovacevic could be usefull(as a sub) and I don't think that Mijatovic should be playing. Unless he wants to promote he new fashion statement:)
Well he said at the time when he was choosing his squad Mijat had beeen struggling and under Therim almost never played. However now under Mancini he is getting more chances and Djoric thinks Mijat will return to form. He also has the experience needed in such a big match against Russia. I agree though, Mijat would be a horrible choice but perhaps he wouldn't make too bad off a sub.
Grobar does bring up a good point. I've always felt we needed a coach who'll instill discipline. Now that we seemed to have found him, we also need to win! What's the point of being disciplined if you can't win?
But I do think we stand better chance of winning (long-term) if we are disciplined then if we are not.
Chance favors the disciplined mind....... or some sranje like that :) :D

At least our boys played well in qualifications of big tournaments, they can't even do that anymore!

So you're basically saying Kovacevic is useless...
Well , looking at it this way ...
Milosevic has played 20 (?) games in Serie-A and managed to score 5 goals ... Kovacevic has played around 8, maybe 9 or 10, and has 4 goals. Now , that doesn't mean that he's better, however he has been more consistent, because most of the time when he does play for Juve he scores. We need him as a back up, especially when Savo is on a bad day like against Slovenia and against Switzerland !!! I consider Kova more than a key...
Stankovic ... He has played one game, in which some of our players were ok, and some were bad. Djoric had no problem putting him on the bench against Slovenia, and keeping him there for 90 minutes.
In my opinion, we can blame Djoric ... and partly Kocic for the two ties we had , Djoric made tactical mistakes, Kocic made keeper mistakes ;)
Calling up Mijatovic is more than a mistake ... if anybody deserves a call up it's Drulovic.
The problem with Kovacevic is that he needs a really good midfielder that Yugo don't have on the team right now. Most of his goals are assited from Zidane. Maybe if Yugo called up Ilic, Petkovic, or Boskovic, Kovacevic can do something.
Not only Kovacevic but also Kezman and Savo needs somebody can supply a good pass to them. well, I just hope Djoric will call up some ARTISTS for yugo nt.

Djoric is a great coach!
Aprilililililililii...:D
Look, the guy's an idiot...we need someone with discipline, someone with balls you say? Tumbakovic and Muslin both posess discipline, and unlike this kreten Djoric who has produced nothing but failures (remember the U21 team) the former two have actually been successful at their jobs...so I don't see why Djoric deserves any respect. We were better off with Petkovic.
