After the news of Denizlispor's 89th-minute goal came in, the celebrations began. Fener's Tuncay equalized one minute later, and the referee added 15 minutes of extra time. But once the result in Denizli was final, television cameras captured some of the most emotional scenes ever seen in Ali Sami Yen. Galatasaray veteran Hakan Sukur burst into tears and embraced his children on the field, saying "We worked so hard for this, and I congratulate everyone at the club. I prayed so much and I'm so happy now." Defender Stjepan Tomas threw his uniform into the screaming crowd and waved a flag of his native Croatia. Colombian goalkeeper Farid Mondragon took off his uniform shirt to reveal a t-shirt with a handwritten message to his mother: "Feliz Dia de la Madre" (Happy Mothers' Day). And coach Erik Gerets lit up a celebratory cigar before being lifted in the air by his players. Fans poured into Istanbul's famous Taksim Square for an all-night party, where songs and celebratory gunfire could be heard into the early hours of the morning.The next day, the team held a massive party at Istanbul's posh Reina nightclub, where players, family, board and staff celebrated late into the night. Messages of congratulations were sent by Turkish President Ahmet Necdet Sezer and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
