The Istanbul derby is not just a local matter: in the eyes of the football world, it is widely considered the derby to end all derbies. On the website footballderbies.com, Fenerbahce-Galatasaray was voted the #1 in the world, beating out such rivalries as Roma-Lazio, Boca-River, and AC-Inter.
This weekend, an Irish television crew will be filming at Sukru Saracoglu for a
program called "Leagues Apart", a travel documentary series about the world's great derby matches. Hosted by Irish comedian Ardal O'Hanlon (best known as Dougal on the popular BBC show Father Ted), the series will takes viewers to such matches as Olympiakos-Panathinaikos, Feyenoord-Ajax, and Barca-Real. But O'Hanlon has saved the best for last, and will be concluding the series in Istanbul.

Yes, this will be such a derby; it is the biggest of all big pities that i live in germany, for otherwise if i lived anywhere near istanbul or turkey, i would have taken an airplane or bus to the match. i am a MAD fanatic for galatasaray, but i am not the kind that goes around killing people. I am a fanatic in a quiet, non-violent way. I just support my team an awful lot.
Whoever wins, i am sure it will be one of those matches-to-remember all life long. i am sure it will not be one of those 0-0 matches with only about 3 highlights; i am sure there will be quite a score, or at least quite a number of attacks. I do not want to be like the bald guy on the tv program 90 dakika, because for the manu-fener match he said "Fener will score at least 2 goals, but i cannot tell you about the opponent" and fener scored 2, the opponent 6. However, i think that Galatasaray and Fener will both score at least 1 or 2 each. They are both desperate :mad2:
