As it looks, Malesani is going to leave by the end of the championship.

As for the new coach they are some rumors about another Italian, and rumors even about Bajevic! I believe the one who will come must be a coach with good knownledge of the Greek league, because we have no time for tests! - that is why Bajevic's name is heard.

Swedish Hans Bake is going to be the new coach. He will replace Malesani by the end of the season.

I never thought I would actually say this but I think i'm going to start to miss Malesani once he leaves. Malesani did a very good job in the second half of the season and he also tried out young Greek players from the Panathinaikos youth system even in a Champions League. Now becuase of Malesani Panathinaikos young Greek players will have more even more experience next year and play even better. In the beggining I wanted Malesani to be fired but towards the second half of the season I thought that Malesani did a good job and desearved to stay as our coach even longer. Malesani also defended us from the press and he cried in our last away game. Anyways I guess whats done is done. Now we will have to see what Bake has prepared for us at the end of the season.

Well, the fans are not optimistic as it looks like. Most of them wanted Malesani to leave, with the term that the board would hire a well known European manager. Bake is not that known and the fans are not that happy - however we can't say something for sure now, he could have a great sucess with Panathinaikos - time will show.

They are many rumors about the new coach. The names I've heard till now in the media are: Cooper, Ranieri, Adriaanse, Camacho, Gulit, Donis, Fylakouris, Paraschos, Anastasiades, Malesani, Bajevic, Markarian, Rocha.

Bajevic was the most possible solution the last days, but things changed as finally he deosn't want to take the risk and leave Red Star, so the possibilities about him coming in Panathinaikos. They are rumors about Ko Adriaanse, Ilie Dumitrescu and some South American coaches which are not so famous.

Vardinogiannis said that the name of the new coach will be known this week.

Now they are talks of the Panathinaikos board with the Spanish coach Victor Muñoz.

Today, he signed a contract till the upcoming summer. If Panathinaikos will win the Superleague, his contract will be automatically renewed, otherwise he will talk with the board about this.

Thank God they did not chose a North European again. His Mediterranean mentality as well as his sucess in the Spanish league are his positives. I hope he fits in Panathinaikos :).

Muñoz will bring with him Raul Longi as an assistant coach and Manuele Lafuente as a trainer.

"Αισθάνομαι περήφανος εγώ και οι βοηθοί μου που επιλεγήκαμε από τον Παναθηναϊκό. Για τις πολλές αλλαγές προπονητών στον Παναθηναϊκό είπε:
"Οι αλλαγές ήρθαν λόγω των αποτελεσμάτων. Πρέπει να βρεθεί κάποιος που να κάνει επιτυχίες".


Για τον τραυματισμό του Βίκτορ:
"Ο Βίκτορ προπονείται εντατικά, έχει το δικό του πρόγραμμα και τον παρακολουθούν οι γιατροί. Ελπίζω σύντομα θα δείξει την κλάση του".

"Πρέπει να αυξήσουμε τον ρυθμό στο παιχνίδι μας. Γρήγορη επίθεση και γρήγορη άμυνα".

Για το αν τον ικανοποιεί το έμψυχο δυναμικό:
"Ακόμα και αν δεν μου άρεσαν οι παίκτες θα έπρεπε να πω ότι είναι οι καλύτεροι στον κόσμο".

Για το λόγο που ήρθε στον Παναθηναϊκό:
"Επιλέχθηκα προπονητής σε μια μεγάλη και σημαντική ομάδα. Δεν είχα τη δυνατότητα αυτή τη στιγμή να πάω σε μια αντίστοιχα τόσο μεγάλη ομάδα στην Ισπανία".

Για το 6μηνιαίο συμβόλαιο:
"Νομίζω πως αυτές οι λεπτομέρειες είναι διοικητικές και δεν έχουν να κάνουν στην κουβέντα μας. Θα κάνουμε το καλύτερο ώστε να γίνουμε πρωταθλητές. Χρειάζεται εντατική προσπάθεια, βελτίωση και μετά θα αξιολογήσουμε την πορεία της ομάδας".

Για τους οπαδούς:
"Θέλω να βλέπω το γήπεδο γεμάτο όπως τότε που είχα έρθει με τη Σαραγόσα. Να φέρουμε τις επιτυχίες αυτές που θέλει να βλέπει στην ομάδα ο φίλαθλος, ο οποίος γεμίζει το στάδιο".

Για το ντέρμπι με την ΑΕΚ:
"Προτεραιότητα είναι ο αγώνας με την Χαποέλ. Οι προπονητές δεν παίζουμε, οι παίκτες παίζουν. Είδα την ΑΕΚ είναι καλή ομάδα, πρέπει να τη σεβαστούμε αλλά και ο Παναθηναϊκός θέλει τη νίκη".

Most possibly, the Portuguese coach Pesseiro is going to be the 13th coach of Panathinaikos the last 6 years.

Looks like the board is willing to spend a good amount of money for coach this time, but I don't think they are willing the same for assistant manager. So something like this sounds good but I don't think it's in the possibilities the board considers. If Ten Kate is hired, he is going to be the manager.

Henk Ten Kate is in Athens today.

According to media he is going to sign a 2-year contract with Panathinaikos worth 1.5 million euros a year. We are waiting for official anouncements.

Ten Kate will lodge permanently in Athens in the end of June, when the summer preparing of Panathinaikos will start. The presentation of the new coach will take place then.

Henk Ten Cate arrived in Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport about an hour ago.

He made the following statement to the journalists:

"I am very proud for coming to Panathinaikos - the emotion of taking on such a historical team is special. The supporters of Panathinaikos are going to be proud as well from the football that will be displayed by Panathinaikos, they will be happy to come and watch the team. In Wednesday I will tell you more when I am going to present my plan. Thanks for the welcome."

The official presentation of the new coach will take place tommorow.
