Germany to Host 2006 World Cup

it has just been announced that Germany is to hold the 2006 World Cup they won on a 11-12 vote over South Africa

any opinions ????

It is a shame Africa did not get it. However Germany will be a good host, and since it is right beside Poland i can go watch the games.I think Africa didn't get it because there is still too much crime and violence on the streets. However the Germans also have plenty of violence in the streets so who knows. But the major thing is probebly the fact that holding it in Germany will probably mean more money for FIFA.

It doesn't make any sense to me, why germany. If you are going to hold it in Europe why not England. I know most people on this board don't like England but the proved they can hold a succesful tournament in 96. There stadia are better that german's and the new Wembley was scheduled to open in 2006, what is a better way to open which should be the greatest stadium in the world than with the world cup. Personally i think that the world cup should have gone to south africa, but if it did go to europe why not england? it doesn't make sense to me.

no offense gb but you cant be that blind the reason it is not in england is because of the hooligans fifa is afraid they will do what they did at euro if they went to belgum and did that it would be 100 times worse n england !!!!!!

oh i realize why they did it, but did you notice that in england in 96 and in france in 98 there was not that much trouble. yes there was the occastional idiot but for the most part there was nothing because security was good. the security at euro 2000 (especially in belgium) was awful. and the germans are no better than the english when it comes to hooliganism. i know the reason why fifa didn't give it to england was because they are mad at them but i still think fifa is stupid. they need to do what is best for football which would have been 1. to have it in south africa or 2. open wembley with the world cup.

Maybe cause of Germany previous international records r better than England :D They won 3 European Cup while England is none and in World Cup too I think that Germany r better.

The whole think was corrupted. Africa should won, but the representative of Oceania was bribed. He should wote for Arfica as New Zeland and other counrty of Oceania desided but he had abstain from voting. It was shown again that the whole world is turning around money wich is the roth of all evil.

Since I'm living in Europe I have nothing against Germany being chosen, but S.Africa was such a good candidate, and the WC was never in Africa!

ok i agree and i disagree i agree that south africa should have been host and i think that a person or 2 was bribed but it is very difficult for some countries to be allowed a visa to enter the country and there would have been a big mess but i dont know maybe germany just had a miracle happen for them who knows
