I want to know what people think our chances are off getting to the second round?
I think the first game will tell us, if we beat Japan , then i think we can do it, (why not). Brasil, well as much as i would love to see Australia win, don't think we can!!! So the big game is Croatia, which i'm a little worried about now that they beat Argentina.
Who for me our one of the favourites to win the world cup.
I think the win against Argentina was due to Pekerman changing his side around too much.
If Kewell, Cahill and dukes can fire then why not, Schwarzer has to put in some big performances too. He may not even get the nod now that this other guy, whats his name kelkec is getting a run as AC Milans keeper, competion can only be good for the team though.

Pekerman didnt change his squad at all, it was full strength, the only ones to change the squad around were Croatia, and we still won ;)

I agree we have the guts and determination.

We need to play with 2 up front, not a sole striker.

I was really dissapointed when we lost to Iran.............they played terribly the whole game, and one mental lapse by the Aussies was enough to give Iran a priceless victory.

We didnt play well enough to beat Uruguay last world cup, but i think we learned from that and did what we had to do to win..........so This world cup was well planned in my opinion, and of course, Guus is the main reason we are there for this world cup..

Frank Farina was a good coach, but Guus has given us the extra edge.

If we do go beyond the first round, it would be awesome, and it would be because Guus has the ability to get the best out of every player.

Brazil is the crunch match.

I still expect the Brazilians to show no mercy.

Thats why our hope lies with our results against croatia and japan, and hope that we can pull something miraculous out against Brazil, and if we do, i am sure it will be thanks to Mark Schwarzer.

Yeah I would like to see 2 strikers up front as well, i think Alosi should be on, especially against Japan, his size and physical presence, could really help benefit the side against smaller opposition such as Japan

Japan is a very good team. Having lived in Japan for a few years, I got to see quite a lot of J-League and international football. IMHO their national team today is better than the 2002 WC team and is very underrated, especially by European based commentators. A tough game for us!

i think australia is going to be brazils worst nightmare.

when you're the favourites (by most) to win a World Cup, having the best players in the world on your side, and holding the best form, there are many things that can go wrong.

the brazillian coaching staff and management will have to decide whether or not to rest their star players in hope of them being fresher for the later rounds, or whether to field a super strong team to probably rattle australia beyond belief.

the lack of presence australia holds in the world game is very noticeable, which makes it even more foundation-shaking when and unknown gets an early goal on you (dont laugh, it happens). but brazil's experience and utter skill and precision would theoretically pull them through such a mishap.

just dont write australia off for all games. they could win them all. they could lose them all. i'm not delerious, i just like my hash cookies.
