I'd like to tell u a story about the greatest. I'm not Yugo nostalgic, after all I'm Slovenian.
Everybody was surprised when Croatia won third place in France, except former Yugoslav nations.
Šuker, Boban, Prosineèki, ***šiè, Mihajloviè, Savièeviè, Mijatoviè, Stojkoviè... The golden generation that won WC tournament u-21 in Chile. I forgot witch year was that. They won the title together as Yugoslavia. But then harder times came and Yugoslavia vanished in flames and these players scattered, everybody on their sides.
So Croats won third place and everyone of Croat players that recieved bron knew they should recieve gold together with Serbs.
Instead, France the most colourful team by nationality won, as a response to the bloodsheed of brothers.

I agree, that generation was THE most talented soccer generation of all times. i don't think there is anybody who can prove me wrong.
But then things hapenned and now it is just a memories.

Yeah Yugo would have had a great team, but that part about the Croats knowing they should have received bronze with Serbs, I know a lot of Croats who would disagree with you on that, and how!

Defenders

Of course Miha, Stimac, Bilic, Djukic, Simic, Soldo, Komljenovic(may not agree with me)


The goaltenders would be the weak link. Both Kralj and Ladic are hurtin'

Yes Gambine but I said Croats should recieve gold not bronze together with Serbs as they did on WC u-21 in Chile '88 year i think. Same generation as later played in France Suker and co. on Croat side and Miha and co. on Serb side :)

You know, i posted a message on the anger forum, where you guys were talking politics, and i said that it was better for the rest of us that you were apart. Imagine what a sight would have been all those players on the same team. It's a thing i always talked about with my friends and my brother, specially after Italy 90 and during USA 94 and France 98, it would have been amazing to see all those players together on the same team, it's really a pity.

I saw you missed a couple (well more than that), but when i saw gambine's post my eyes brightened:

Not bad, but surely a legend like Stojkovic would find his place in that team...also Prosinecki's name must be mentioned ... but I think the biggest mistake may lie in the attack, ***sic and Suker instead of Milosevic ? Well ... I guess it's a matter of opinion.

You know Severus, i said "we" cause i was setting up the formation. I'm from argentina, and I live in Buenos Aires, but that doesn't matter. Who wouldn't be a fan of such a team. I don't take sides.........well maybe one: soccer, and that's what's important for me, so to even recognize the greatness of Brazil, Pelé, Ronaldo, Garrincha, Junior, Socrates, Careca, Romario, Bebeto, Zico and many more, all players of my most hated rival (only in soccer)

p.s.: Though I really enjoy watching them lose, especially against us, hehehehe.

sorry for the misunderstanding.

however, i think argentina can get away with playing 2 back. chamot - samuel because with that fire power on argentina, it doesn't matter how many goals you'll concede because you'll usually score more than the opposition with saviola, riquelme, aimar, lopez, crespo, bati, veron, kily etc etc ... (mamma mia the list is endless)

Yes, it was a very talented generation. But you cant claim that it was the best in the world. After alll in WC90 (west)Germany beat your golden generation 4-1.

but WC90 w.ger had a squad of experienced players where these Boys whore playing amonst men at the bigest stage of world football.

BTW way we would not have gotn gold politics would have prevailed and either more than 1/2 the squad would be croatian or serbian and the 1/2 our legends would not play think of that attack with out suker or the midfield without stojkovic or boban it would not work.
