below is a riddle from einstein, which he asserted as unsolvable on behalf of the 98% of humanity.
the problem concerns five people of different nationality, who all breed different animals, drink different drinks, and smoke different cigarettes and live in different-colored houses.
and the specifications are as follows:
*english lives in the red house.
*swedish breeds dog.
*danish drinks tea.
*green house is exactly at the left of the white house.
*owner of the green house doesn't drink coffee.
*the one who smokes "palmall" breeds a bird.
*the one who lives in the house at the middle of this block drinks milk.
*the one who lives in the yellow house smokes "dunhill".
*norwegian lives in the first house.
*the one who smokes "marlboro" is the neighbour of the one who breeds cat.
*the one who breeds horse is the neighbour of the one who smokes "dunhill".
*the one who smokes "winfield" likes to drink beer.
*norwegian lives in the house next to the blue one.
*german smokes "rothmann".
*the neighbour of the one who smokes "marlboro" drinks water.

and the question is: who breeds the fish?

Tricky... but I'm 99% sure it's the German.

Goes like this: {yellow, norwegian, water, dunhill, cat} {blue, danish, tea, marlboro, horse} {red, english, milk, palmall, bird} {green, swedish, beer, winfield, dog} {white, german, coffee, rothmann, fish}

Hmmm :smoking: !!!! If that's right I doubt abt the 2% thing 'cos I too came up with the same solution. By the way,did u arrrive at it logically or did u've to guess at some point ? I cut down the Norwegian's pets to cat and fish, then guessed cat for the Norwegian. It was easy to get fish for the German after that. But I continued and ended up with the same solution.
Seems to be in accordance with whatever mentioned.

indeed there were some times that einstein was somehow comparable to pele: being a genius in his field but making obscure predictions. for instance, he also had asserted that the universe had been stable and had not expanded, and even defined a universal constant in accordance with this theory, to which he later on had to address as the biggest blunder of his life.
however apart from this, einstein had also quotes like "we're all equally stupid in front of god" or "two things are infinite:the universe and the human stupidity; but i'm not so sure about the first one", where he criticized human intelligence, especially because of the world wars. and regarding the current case, this question is not an exception for his hype out of his mockery in this aspect.

I tried to do it without guessing but it was unavoidable at the end. I just placed the German and the Swede where I thought might be right and then it went from there... I first thought the green house was in the middle, but then I realized that wasn't the case, so I had to think it all over again...

these sorts of riddles may often have more than just one version, aka the original one, transformed in this or that way in time during the process of transferring them to people. indeed the original one may not have talked about cigarettes at all, or even if so might have done that about ones which were in use by that time but not available any more.
