If you were the national coach for Team Canada? what would you do to help our team?
for me, I'd call up most overseas players when their seasons are mostly done and have a truckload of friendlies! In the first week of that opportune month, I'd have a home and away game with Costa Rica; second week, we'll play 3 friendlies against Wales, Ireland and Scotland; third week, we host Columbia, Mexico, Jamaica and the US; and the fourth week, we dare to challenge a few MLS Teams!!!

In second month, I take Canada to play several games against Scottish Premier teams and English Premiership teams; then we move on French teams and Spanish teams. ha! I know this sounds silly but what the hell!

The entire yearly budget for all CSA programs is 9-10 million a year which is not too far off Sven Goran Erickson's salary. Suffice to say if we followed what you propose there wouldn't be any money left for women or everything under U23 age groups.

Some possible solutions would be a semi permanent European base like Holger kind of had at Duisberg? and an Eastern/Central Canadian base, neither of which helps the team's Canadian profile if they aren't seen in more places.

I hate to say this about Vancouver but holding so many games there has proven detrimental to team performance partly due to the lengthy travel differences.

Welcome to the board by the way. Being a Canadian soccer fan ain't easy as you've chosen the tougher path. But like the Red Sox, it'll be sweeter in the end. :)

ok let me tell you something about canada.. Canada has one of the best young soccer players.. to prove this to you.. go to the biggest youth soccer torunaments in the states, and some european tournaments.. you will always see that a canadian team at least a finalist or champs... so i say we should change the peopel that are in charge of the canadian soccer assos. becuase they don't know what are they doin!!! we got alots of talent we just need to keep our youth players in a soccer program and you'd see canada competing in teh world cup thats our dream.. seeing canada compete in the cup!!!

You're saying white people can't play soccer. As far as I understand skin colour doesn't affect one's ability to kick a ball.

This will be as far as this thread tangent will go lest the thread be closed.

I moved your other post from the Canadians Abroad thread because that thread is reserved for following the whereabouts of Cdn players.
