How do points work?

Just been having a wee sketch at points etc and wonder how it works? For example, I seem to have more points than guys who have thousands of posts more than me. I assume people can donate points but surely I'm not charismatic enough to have gained more points than the regulars?

I've only been here a week and can only post on Wedneday's as that's the only day I get to to go to my local pub which has Internet access. ('Mon The Three Tuns!!!)

lol. i asked the exact same question when i first came here. you can deposit your points in the bank so thats why you have more points than some of the regulars. if you put the points in the bank then they are safe from thiefs!

Haven't banked any, didn't know how!! Maybe I'm just not worth the bother!!
