Im not disrespecting wayne rooney but George best has played his full career and is no longer with us.

rooney has played 3 years and is being compared to one of the worlds best ever.

They must be kidding. They could perhaps compare Becks to Best. Rooney would need a very deep plastic surgery in order to look good like Best did. :)

seriously, there is a reason to wait.......................you cannot judge 2 players fairly until both have completed their careers..........that is a good reason to wait.

I think a better reason not to compare two players is that their careers were in different eras. Plus where they're different types too.
There's another thing too...how the career ended. I don't mean GB's off field problems. I mean going off to play in the NASL and playing with Rodney Marsh at Fulham. As enjoyable as that was (Fulham I mean) sometimes, it's not like going out at the top. Bit of a circus too, quite honestly.
Lucky for me, my memories are mainly the ManU ones. To younger people that could get cancelled out if they remember the last couple of years more than the earlier stuff.
Five years at the peak of one's game should be enough. Not 5 years of playing....a couple of years getting established, then being highly rated...then the five years begins. That's about 8 years and spans two World Cups (exceptionally three). I think that's enough to judge greatness.

as for rooney compared to best, we will have to wait and see. Rooney is ceratinyl on a distinguished path to become a great footballer. lets see how he preofrms at the cup as well though.

I agree he is much better than rooney, all im debating is the fact that rooney hasnt played his whole career yet is being compared to a player that played his whole career.
