SARAJEVO, Jan 31 (Reuters)(DS) - Four Bosnian Serb clubs are to enter the Bosnian Cup for the first time and compete with eight teams from the Muslim-Croat federation for a place in UEFA Cup, a Bosnian FA (NSBIH) official said on Wednesday. The move paves the way for the Serb soccer association and clubs to fully merge into NSBIH and its league structure, said NSBIH Secretary-General Munib Usanovic. "I am a very optimistic," Usanovic said, adding that the joint cup competition would start in March. The Serb clubs opted not to join the FIFA and UEFA-backed joint league when it was launched last summer. Because of this, Serb clubs could not play international matches and their players did not feature in the Bosnia team in European Championship and World Cup qualifiers. Usanovic said the Serb association should now submit proposals on how to join the NSBIH, register its players and secure funds fronm the "Goal" project -- wich is run by world governing body FIFA. Bosnia, which consists of the autonomous Muslim-Croat federation and the Serb republic, took on its present political structure after the 1992-5 war.
