Who's better Portugal or Spain? I say Spain but they are kinda even.

Who´s better: Uckraine, Turkey, Denmark or Greece? :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

We play sexy football we have one of the best defenses and midfields of the Worls and World class wingers like: Figo, Cristiano Ronaldo, Simão, Quaresma and Boa Morte.

Even in the attack (which has been our biggest weakness along the years) we have Nuno Gomes at an incredible form, Pauleta is doing OK in France and a new talent, Hugo Almeida, though is not very likely to play in this World Cup, but in th U-21 European Championships where he will help us to become european champions).

spain used to be a great national team, but they have slipped up recently and had some shocking results...portugal on the other hand has excelled and gained confidence since euro 2004 and is a better team than spain atm...

No, but that's another story. Portugal is playing well now but they still need competent strikers and a goalie. Yes you will argue that they've scored a ton of goals in qualifications and that is true, but still Pauletta and Gomes are second rate at best, and I doubt that Portugal will get that quality of opposition at the World Cup. The Midfield is great and defense is solid. Czechs, IMO, will disappoint in the World Cup, but let's wait until they qualify. And as we all know France is nothing without Zidane, and he's aging. Do you think he will carry them to the World Cup without taking a few knocks along the way?

One thing, I agree that Portugal is currently better than Spain, and I think they rank amongst the better teams of Europe currently, but not as high as you seem to believe.

Not a good comparison. Portugal is far better. The current Portugese team (like the Dutch) has a realistic chance of winning the WC.

Strikers have been the greatest problem of Portugal. Probably you are not very attentive to the Portuguese Championship, but Nuno Gomes is in very good shape. In 9 games he has scored 9 goals. Hugo Almeida (u probably watched is goal Tuesday against Inter is growing) an Pauleta is OK. Those are not super-strikers, but France did not become World Champion with great strikers. Our goalie is weak, but that is what we have. Baia is in good form, but Scolari refuses to call him...

I would not argue with that. It is true that our opposition was weak, still I think that Nuno Gomes is in good shape and we have so many good wingers that maybe we could use Ronaldo as striker (it has already been used in friendlies and when we are losing, with good results as u can check the best scorers in the european zone)

Maybe he is aging, but the football school of France is very powerfull as You can check.

Well I comment what I see. I think it is indisputable that Holland is right now the best team in Europe, so I would rank the best like this:

2-Czech Republic
3- France
4- Portugal

Cmon Luso, there's no need for that. Greece won fair and square and beat Portugal 2X at home. Now, there's no doubt that Portugal have a good team at the moment, but you must also consider the competition....nevertheless one thing I admire about the Portuguese team is that you guys don't stop when you are beating up a minnow and run up the score, however it seems that because of these games there exists a belief that you are unbeatable. That is not true. No teams are unbeatable at the moment as Greece proved in the Euro...yeah, they're out, but still....give credit where it's due.

Spain is actually a very mediocre team if you count the history of the game. As far as recently, Spain has been terrible.

The question isn't about the past, it's about the present. I think Portugal get's the edge at the moment, and specifically because Portugal proved to be the better team in the last encounter too, which was not too long ago. Spain has the tools, but can they put it together? We'll see...soon....

I never said that Portugal was unbeaten. In fact I don´t even believe any european tem will be european champion. In fact I don´t even think the final will have any european team. The only thing I said was that Portugal was the 4th best european chance to win the world cup.

You know, as I was watching that game and after Engand went up early, SGE went into a defensive shell...that was what did it IMO, because traditionally it is NOT England's style to do so and thus it's not familiar. I see Crouch is gaining favor in the NT, and I suspect a return to the tall, strong, target man that typically outfitted English NT's of the past.

2nd: Spain was many years better than Portugal, there is no doubt about that, you colud see even the statistics, Spain is clearly superior, but in the last years, Portugal approached Spain, and in this Euro 2004, we were superior, but I got to say: Portugal and Spain are now at the same level (you may think that I'm crazy :loco: , but that how I think), so if we want to talk about the past results, Spain wins, but now the 2 teams are even
