Hi guys/gals... I'm fairly new here.I'm mexican and therefore support my team and hope we do better this time around in the WC. I know that some mexican fans tend to go overboard with their support to the team by claiming what we are not. For that, I apologize. We are not a fútbol powerhouse. We are very good, but not GREAT. We are currently progressing at an international level. That is a very big deal for us as the only international mexican players are Marquez and Borgetti.
Anyways, I want all of you to know that not all mexicans live in a dream world as most of you believe. It is not our fault that marketers use the Mexican National Team as a tool to sell beer, sodas, potato chips, etc. They create this hype and then try to get us to buy into it. Mexicans are the biggest Latino market in the United States. If, let's say, Bolivians were the biggest market, it would be the same thing only that the Bolivian national team would be thier tool. That is why you have the Mexican Football League (FMF) in the Fifa video games instead of stronger leagues like Argentina's. Believe me, when I see commercials with the Mexican National team on the tv or on ads, I ask myself, will all that money that Doritos is paying them make them play like a world class team? Will it bring consistency? And by world class, I mean on the level Brazil, Argentina, England, Italy, etc., plays.
It's all hype created by the media to sell whatever it is they are selling. And it really makes the team look bad. You see this hype build up all over tv and in the end they fail what they really are supposed to do, win. And please don't say we HAVE won the Gold Cup a couple of times. It is a poor tournament and the competition is not great. you are only fooling yourselves if you think that it is a big achievement for us. All Mexicans I know agree with me on this.
Like I said, we are getting better and better and I finally see improvement. That brings a smile to my face. Hopefully, soon, we come full circle and finally win a World Cup. Hopefully it happens next year.
Anyways, gaucho 101, nice pink ponies you got there. Very "cute". I hope you are not a guy. As you know by now, Pumas eliminated Corinthians. And please do not say that Pumas won because Teves didn't play. After all, Pumas suck, right?
