Good article, though I'd like to comment on a couple of things:

- The airport incident was an absolute shame, and anyone here with half a brain condemns it. There's the wide suspicion it was staged by a business group (Tenfield, owned by the infamous Paco Casal), which has too many interests in local soccer.

- The Australian media and football federation are not helping. The media here has been keen on reporting anything negative said or done (adding its own spin while they're at it, of course).

- What's with the tickets, by the way? It's been widely reported that Uruguayans living in Australia have been denied tickets for the Sydney game, and that only 2,000 were available to them despite a demand for more than 20,000. Anyone has better information?

That last bit is a lie. SBS showed footage of plenty of Urguayan fans snapping up tickets.

Not a lie. Maybe 2000 uruguayans are going to be at the game but at least another 15000 thousands won't hava a ticket. There was an understanding with the FFA about certain area of the Stadium will be for the uruguayans in the $65 space, but when the moment came most of these tickets were allready sold by the internet. The FFA didn't save them to be sold to the uruguayans. That's why people is so pissed off. We call these kind of meneuvers "embarrar la cancha" literally make mud in the field, meaning trying to affect the result of the game from outside the field.
Ok. These is just going to make the victory more enjoyable.

2,000? Any proof of this? Anyhow, surely 2,000 is better than the 100 or so Australians that are going to be turning up to Centenario Stadium. I'm certain more would have made the trip if not for the constant threat of being pelted with flares and rocks whilst being locked up in area meant to 'protect' the away fans. That could be classed as "embarrar la cancha", could it not?

Pelted with flares and rocks? Who do you think we are? Argentina?

The Uruguayan community in Australia numbers tens of thousands. The Australian community in Uruguay is probably limited to the Embassy's staff and a few more, so anyone else has to come from Australia or another country (an expensive trip, I guess). That's why there's a difference in ticket numbers.

There will be more than 2000 Uruguayan's there. Knowone knows the exact figure but on SBS i saw a shitload lining up to get their tickets - and they got them - no hassels - if Uruguan's really wanted to go to this game in Sydney, they would line up like the rest of us. Except if ur part of the 'football family' such as myself, then you get them mailed to you!

You say that based on what??!!!
On 20 idiots spitting in an airport?
Such aggression to an away crowd has never happened in this country.
Every time we play against Argentina or in the continental clubs competition against an argentinian or a brazilian club we can count with 5000 people in our stadium. And believe me, the people supporting an argentinian club are not guys you would invite to dinner.
You can count with at least to matches with a big foreign crowd at least twice a year and nothing ever happened.
If you loose you will loose just because your players don't have what it takes so, don't look for excuses.

Luck in a battery yeah Chacal!! I agree!--Australian Officials and huge media and other big business' interests have resourced to a battery of dirty tricks to prevent us Uruguayans in Australia to massively attend the second leg game.

From the number of tickets really available to the public ( to "suspected" Uruguayans  to the prize of the tickets.. One word for it:shambles! :mad2:

Don't worry Chacal7!! 2000 of us are worth a million!

No nos pararan! (You won't stop us mates:inside or outside the field!-We the fans will be there supporting our team and we are going to make u feel our presence!)

The Uruguayan players know a whole country is behind them...It is unfair though that in Australia, the country that praises itself for being a paradigma of FAIR GO-we have to see things like this taking place. That mates, is sooooooo "unaustralian" unfair  outrageous  dis graceful :boink: and definetely gives us food for thought....Why is this allowed to happen?

Hey guys :Does anyone know of a link to send our support to the Uruguayan team? If so please provide us with the address!

Our boys will receive thousands of mails from Australia I'm sure.

Sending supportive mails is a very Australian practice that I have learned in here and I would like to share with Uruguayans ;)

One of my mails will express that some Uruguayan fans will not be at the Sydney Stadium because....they weren't given the opportunity to buy the tickets :mad2:
