so it seem Real r ready 2 do another huge mistake by letting Helguera leave, him & sergio ramos r just beginning 2 form a great partnership in defense & no 1 can deny that helguera is playing beautifully & with a speedster next 2 him, there r no worries, but rumours r that helguera reached a verbal agreement with liverpool & would be going there next season!!!!!!!

I think his contract should be renewed.......

NICE
Liverpool are on the verge of closing a deal for Real Madrid defender Ivan Helguera.

The Mirror says Reds boss Rafa Benitez is set to tie up a free transfer deal for next season by coming to a pre-contract agreement with the player on January 1.

Helguera and Benitez are believed to have made a verbal agreement already, although nothing can be finalised until the beginning of the New Year.

Liverpool will have beaten Newcastle and Manchester United if they manage to secure a deal for the Spain international.

how about he is 30, his wage demands are high. We have to think about the future, if they do let helguera go, they real better buy another CB unless woodgate starts playing well again.

they are not getting rid of him are you stupid?

do you udnerstand the words "verbal agreement" between Benitez and Helguera.

Helguera wants to leave, he doesn't like the current team, he doesn't like the new players and he wants to get out before his career is voer sicne he is 30.

I don't blame him, the RM administration has done a terrible job of the defense.

There is a reason why Samuel played well with Roma then crappy with us then well with Inter. He didn't care for this club and didn't like the defense etc....

The squad is falling apart and Perez is to blame.

We used to have Makelele, Zidane, Raul, Morientes, Figo, R.Carlos etc.. on our Champions League and La Liga winning days, look at our squad now it's becoming a individual competition which is not what Juventus, Chelsea, AC Milan etc... are doing.

Stam is getting old and even he can kick helgueras ass.

that is just my personal opinion, and I respect your. I just really think there are alot of better defenders out there. and helguera has never really done nothing to solve reals defensive problems for years.

Well lets hope with Lux incharge, he now controls he transfers, and so far he is making real more like team, they are becoming a hard working and efficent side. We all know how perez has wrecked he team, but lets Lux can save it, like he is doing so far.

ermmm...if you took the time to read my post i have Stam(P*) in my list

Its really not fair to lay on the burdens of defence problems in Real on any defender playing in a system with only 3 defensive players (i hardly consider carlos, salgado to be defenders). Considering his options i truly consider him worthy of top 10 defenders (why else would Juve be so keen on signing him last season??)

You dont hear us blaming the Lazio tifosi just because Lazio dont have the players to play ball do u ;-) ?

Look at the goal madrid conceded today, what was helguera thinking?

RaulMadrid7
10-20-2005, 04:02 AM
guys don't diss Helguera he is a solid player, but Stam is a legendary player and if you diss him then you really have some problems.

Stam was a legend with Manchester United etc... and now with AC Milan he is showing that age is not a factor.

Same with ManUtd fans and now with AC Milan fans.

I don't think any Man Yoo fans feel Stam is a legend. Atleast none of the ones I've talked to name him as a legend at Man Yoo.

Anyway, Helguera is good, but Top 10 material? I think not. There are plenty of center defenders who are better.

In regard to the statement about Salgado and Carlos not being defenders, pretty shameful of you to say, then again it is your personal opinion, though it is a lame one.

ok guys I don't know about you, but I value in good defender - a header shot, defence header and nice sliding tackle. I've seen how Stam plays in the air and maybe helguerra does yield to him in air, but not sliding tackle. no way no how (hate to be mistaken)
