£10M A YEAR BECKS

DAVID BECKHAM will stun Real Madrid this week by asking for an incredible £40 MILLION to sign a new four-year contract.

The England captain is set to begin talks over a new deal and wants to double his £5.5m-a-year wages. At £10m a year, Real will have to pay the world's highest wages to keep hold of the player.

But even that stunning sum represents only a fraction of what Beckham brings to the club — modest estimates indicate that figure is at least £50m a year.

Becks, whose current deal runs out in 2007, earns the same wages as Real's other stars like Zinedine Zidane, Raul and Ronaldo

But his representatives will also demand a megabucks image rights deal that recognises the enormous profits he brings to the Bernabeu.

And talks could not come at a better time for Beckham, 30, who's been Real's best player so far this season — the man who turned their early slump around.

Becks had taken a £1m-a-year salary cut to join Madrid two years ago in a £24m move from Manchester United after falling out with Sir Alex Ferguson.

His £90,000-a-week initial wages at Madrid had been increased by £10,000 a week early last year to bring him in line with Zidane and Ronaldo who signed new deals.

Yet Beckham's salary does not take into account his massive global commercial worth which has turned Real Madrid into the world's most profitable club.

It's not just soaring shirt sales that Becks has generated as Real also negotiated huge hikes in their deals with sponsors Siemens, adidas and Pepsi.

Sport of the World told you back in February that Real were willing to put a stonking £7 million a year offer to Beckham for a new four year deal but will now have to revise their plans.

Madrid officials admit Beckham is the big driver of their marketing strategy and they will grudgingly have to cough up a slice to Becks who they see as a licence to print money.

Real's powerful marketing director Jose Angel Sanchez described the £24m fee for Becks as "peanuts" and just by looking a the figures it's easy to see why.

Becks joined in the summer of 2003 and merchandising sales rocketed by a whopping 67 per cent in his first season and were still rising last season by a further 6.5 per cent.

In a sensational secret recording earlier this year Sport of the World caught out Real president Florentino Perez who admitted that Beckham "PAYS" the wages of the clubs Galacticos such as Zidane.

We caught Perez admitting: "The player that gives us the biggest profits is Beckham in image rights and everything else. Effectively his salary costs us nothing. After him the player that earns us the most is Ronaldo.

"I negotiated with Adidas and I got an increase of 9 million Euros (£6.3m) to a total of 40 million Euros (£28m) a year because I have Beckham.

"Beckham pays us his own salary, and that of Zidane  … There are players who bring money and players who cost us money.

"The people don't believe it but thanks to David we got Euros 14m (£10.2 million) in Japan for two games which we got two months before we even left to go there. And that 14 million Euros (£10.2m) was exclusively for Beckham."

The England megastar has catapulted Real into the top spot of the Football Money League for the coming year.

Madrid's earnings topped £190 million for last season and are certain to overtake Manchester United, when Deloitte and Touche publish the Football Money League-showing up the folly of Old Trafford's bigwigs to get rid of Beckham.

Last season Real pocketed a staggering £80 million in merchandising sales-and raked in a further £16m from their lucrative Japan tour which president Perez admitted was all down to Madrid's Becks appeal.

United had earned £169m the season before last, a figure that is not expected to rise after a slump in revenue due to the club's early exit from the Champions League.

ok cool, but tell him that the betting forum is only for people who are betting, and for him to stop double posting

oh and topic, why not just sign a deal with him that his salry would be 20 or 25% of the money he brings in, so if he slumps he would automatically be payed less

with all this money these guys have they could at least donate for some people's university money and change lives... etc...

I mean seriously all that is, is a player worth like 300 dollars and decorated with diamonds to make it 24, 700 more, I mean it's a ridiculously spoiled lifestyle.

He could invest in other companies make more money and help the 1 billion kids dying every year, etc.... not only Beckham but many other billionaires and millionaires etc...

but hey that's capitalism for you. :sleepy:
