It would have been ideal if we were in Pot 2 but I still like our chances at qualifying. Hopefully we get a decent group.

These are NOT the groups for qualifying, these are the POTS for the qualifying draw, which takes place in January.
The pots work like this:
Points in Euro 2004 Qualification + Points in WC2006 Qualification, Divided by the total number of games played.
Essentially the resulting coefficient represents the average number of points taken from the games played in the last two qualifying cycles (Euro 2004, World Cup 2006). What helped Romania get ahead of us is the fact that they were in a bigger qualifying group for WC2006 and had an easy chance to improve their coefficient against weaker teams -- think of what would happen if you added the Faroe Islands to our group ON TOP OF having San Marino already. So overall, we are the top nation in the third pot.
Greece is the one exception to the rule. They are automatically seeded because they are European Champions.

And for those who don't understand what pots are -- we will face one team from EVERY pot, except for our pot.
There will be seven (7) groups, and the top two (2) teams in each group will move on.
urosmax has it right. These are just the rankings for the team.

Serbia was in pot 3 for the 06 qualifying group and turned out to win the group so I don't think it really matters.

...And because they're obviously the easiest teams in pot 1 and pot 2.
Imagine if we have to play against Holland and Italy.

Im sure they will, if they continue to play the way their playing now, and probably be even better as time goes on.
