Pavel Nedved is ready to come out of international retirement in a bid to help the Czech Republic qualify for the World Cup.

The Juventus ace quit after Euro 2004 but could return for the two play-off matches against Norway next month.

"If I got called up then I could think about it," the former European Footballer of the Year told Studio Sport.

"After all, we are only talking about two matches. I haven’t been contacted yet but I may seriously consider it."

In the other play-off ties - to be played on November 12 and 16 - Spain will meet Slovakia, while Switzerland face Turkey.

Meanwhile, the 32-year-old has underlined what his primary intention is at club level this season.

Having won Lo Scudetto on three occasions in Turin, the midfielder has his eyes on alternative silverware.

"It is difficult to win the Italian Championship, but if I had to choose a competition to conquer, then I would target the Champions League," he added.

"I have been chasing that objective ever since I joined this club."

Nedved will be back in action on Saturday, against Messina, when the Bianconeri look to make it seven wins out of seven so far this term.

I don't think the Czechs are going to make it even if Nedved gets called up.

Zidane did the same thing for France and France qualified. :smoking:

I respect his decision, but honestly hes too old to play for both, even Thuram just came back for a few games and he got injured...i dont like it.

Czech coach Karel Bruckner insists that Pavel Nedved still has work to do to get back into his team.

The Juventus star has returned to the international fold for the first time since Euro 2004.

"Nedved isn't certain to return, he is only nominated," insisted Bruckner.

"I have had him always in my list, I have never ruled him out of the international team.

"Simply said, we will surely be stronger with Nedved."

Bruckner also revealed that it is yet to be decided whether Nedved will get the captain's armband back.

"We will discuss it together with all players, we haven?t solved it yet," he added.
