In a move to expand his increasing business empire, Jay-Z is said to be reportedly in talks to buy a piece of the famed London soccer team, Arsenal FC.

Jay-Z (real name Shawn Carter) has purportedly been in negotiations with Arsenal front office brass to purchase a big stake in the London squad.

Originally a team of munitions workers from southeast London before moving to north London, the Arsenal’s aka the “Gunners” have won five English league titles and two F.A. cups.

Now under the guidance of Frenchman Arsène Wenger, it is potentially entering a second golden age as one of Europe's most exciting attacking teams.

If cemented, the deal would be another successful business notch under the Brooklyn entrepreneur’s belt.

Known for his business acumen, Jay-Z has currently enjoying a string of fruitful business deals as of late.

He is currently developing his own S. Carter high-end clothing line, and in the spring he introduced a collaboration with Swiss luxury-watch maker Audemars Piguet.

In addition, Carter’s Rocawear clothing brand is generating some $400 million a year in sales. (Carter and partners recently bought out co-founder Dash for an estimated $25 million.)

Although Carter has mainly orchestrated his deals behind the scenes, his business accomplishments have not gone unnoticed.

The business community recognized Jay-Z’s savvy earlier this year when he was received the British GQ’s International Man of the Year award.

He also was recently featured on the cover of the well-respected financial business magazine, Fortune.

I can't say I "hate" him... but I don't enjoy most of his music... his beats are sick, but his flow is wack...
and he can buy arsenal for all I care.... I never liked em anywayz...

I think this could be a good move. He is not afraid to spend his earnings. This could help Arsenal. He said in an interview that he thinks Henry is "cool."

I dont think he'll buy and spend money in soccer.

he will be looking to expand his music empire more and more rather than buy a piece in arsenal

It would be quality, but I very much doubt it.

It doesn't matter who buys the club but he has to put the club first and do whats best for them not like Malcolm Glazer.

I doubt Jay-Z knows much about football, i'd love it if he could prove me wrong.

most american's don't.

he would be bad owner IMHO, becasue he would have no input of his own, so he wont have a dream for the team if you get my drift.

Eddie Pope plays a cross diagnol field ball to Landon Donavon, Donavon puts it in the score-bag. (American commentators during America's world cup game against Portugal, 2002.

We got 99 problems but the wing ain't one.

Nah, i'm not sure he'd be so good for Arsenal, he surely knows very little aboutt eh club and its tradition etc.

i hate all his songs :)
two reasons:
1.its rnb, he a wanabee rapper
2.and he had the nerve to use 2pac in his song, even though pac hates him.

its not uncommon for musicians to buy stacks in sports teams
i just read the usher have stake in NBA Clevland CAvs
so to Jayz to be interested he has to know something about the club/game
the Glaziers didnt just decide to buy ManU. they did all the studies & finances b4 they made the move so they had to know something about the game

No flow? He's got better flows then any other rapper, and no way is he r'n'b, he's fresh and original.

agreed.

he didnt just see some kid walking the streets of new york with an Arsenal shirt on and say "hmm, let me buy FC arsenal".

im sure he, or better yet, his financial advisors see some benefit or potential in buying stake in FC arsenal.

he prob wants some ways to secure his money and future. buying legit clubs like this is a good way.
