"Juve's Gigi Buffon is making steady progress as he recovers from a serious shoulder injury, leading the goalkeeper to believe he will be back in action by December.

The shot stopper picked up the injury in a pre-season game against Milan, who then promptly offered the services of Christian Abbiati on loan.

"I think Abbiati has played superbly and he was the decisive factor against Udinese," said Buffon.

"And I'm following the expected path to recovery. In the middle of November I will be going back to training and I believe I will be returning to action around the beginning of December.

"I have to admit that, in comparison with previous injuries, this scared me more," he continued.

"Sustaining a shoulder injury as a goalkeeper is not good, but I am feeling good and I hope that my team-mates will have kept us at the top of the League when I return."
ok guys so i was thinking since Abbiati(3 goals against in 8 games) is playing so well, when Buffon gets back should he start?

I must day Abbiati has done more than an excellent job filling in Buffons gloves :D. He has always been a good keeper worthy of a number 1, but always seems to go to a team where the keeeper is just better.

Hmm well i disagree guys, im still not convinced by Abbiati. Must be because im used to the best keeper in the world making the most insane saves, but i feel we need Gigi to truly succeed.
