replacement for Viera untill Fabregas gets better(not much to go) a GK Lehman is old and quite poor IMO, a Foward Henry said he wont sign new deal untill nest summer which has sparked rumours of a move to Barca.
and a CB would help them.

You can never be sure if this kinda thing is true.
If so, knowing Arsenal, we wouldn't sign anyone decent with the cash

In LONDON story headlined "Arsenal to break bank to keep Henry" please read in final para...Henry is currently paid around 75,000 pounds a week...instead of...Henry is currently paid around 75,000 pounds a year (correcting figure).

A corrected repetition follows:

LONDON, Oct 11 (Reuters) - Arsenal are prepared to make Thierry Henry the highest-paid player in the history of the club to keep the Frenchman at Highbury, British media reported on Tuesday.

Henry has put contract talks on hold, sparking fears he could quit in the summer.

But Arsenal chairman Peter Hill-Wood told London's Evening Standard that the club would be prepared to beat the 82,000 pounds ($143,700) a week they had paid Patrick Vieira.

"We have not talked about the offer yet," Hill-Wood told the tabloid. "But it is fair to say he would become the highest-paid player in Arsenal's history -- and deservedly so.

"We would also have liked to talk before the end of the season but it is Thierry's right to leave it until then. It is his life but we want him to stay and he knows that."

Henry, 28, is currently paid around 75,000 pounds a week, the paper said. His contract expires in June 2007.

He could get much more at other clubs, but when your that rich, what's the difference between 75k a week and 100k a week?

I reckon Arsenal should buy:

A central midifleder, Diarra from Lyon - 10 million pounds
Striker - Luca Toni would be good for them, but off Fio :( - 10 million pounds
Goalkeeper - Shay Given - 6 million
Winger/other midifelder - Schweinsteiger - 10+ million

That would leave them with quite a bit of cash. But I can't see that happening. Plus Henry will leave I reckon.

Unfortunately Lyon were asking Chelsea £35m for Diarra. I think Schweinsteiger is a ball hog (he's also really ugly;))
Given wouldn't be good, and I like Luca Toni he's the kind of target-man we need but no doubt Palermo will be very reluctant to let him go.

They should be able to strengthen up the team quite nicely with that amount of money. There has been some rumours in the papers that Arsene is interested in Papa Bouba Diop of Fulham but they want 12 million pounds. I mean he is know Patrick Vieria but he is the same type of player and would be a good replacement in the midfield.

It would be great if this rumour were true, but knowing Arsene he'd be reluctant to spend any of it because 'it would damage our youth side'. I'm not sure if Diop is worth £12m, but he'd be a great signing.

35 mil for Diarra? Chelsea prices :D

Diop would strengthen you, and Toni alongside Henry, if he stays which i would like to see, what a strikeforce that would be, as bergkamp is retiring I guess a new striker must be a priority.

Goalkeeper is a position they need strengthenin in, as Lehmann isn't good enough IMO. Casillas has been rumoured, and if that came off well it would be excellent for Arsenal. Not sure about that. Maybe Wenger will finally make a deal for frey, who I wouldn't like to see leave la Viola :( but would be an excellent acquisition, or maybe Hildebrand.

I think big Jens has improved, and 35m for Diarra is a tad over-priced.
Although so was Essien for 26m and Carvalho for 22m.
Well now I think about it hte whole Chelsea aquad is over-priced.

its casue there is a price for Chelsea and a price for everyone else.
(ie if chelsea backed out of essien and another club came in the fee would be about 17m not 26)

Yeh I know what you mean, as Arsene said Chelsea can just barge into any of your transfer deals and outbid you by £10m.
