canada
were you born in the states or croatia?
crofan718
07-22-2006, 10:21 PM
i was born in new york (i'm second generation croatian). my parents were born in croatia. i have to go see my relatives on krk very soon! i haven't gone since is started college! i can't wait to swim in the adriatic againt. the water in the long island soudn is horrible and i stopped swimming in new york. the problem my parents started going in september to avoid the tourists and i can't afford a plane ticket to go by myself in the summer!
when was the last time your were in hercegovina or croatia?
crofan718
07-22-2006, 10:34 PM
summer of 2004. i was actually in hercegovina in 2003. i went to visit my uncle's family in posusje while i went with my family to medugorje. that was the heatwave summer too!
where in hercegovina are you from?
Ljubuski
have you ever been in Ljubuski?
crofan718
07-22-2006, 11:16 PM
no i haven't. we stayed in medugorje for two nights. we got their from krk at about 8pm and we left at 8 am so yeah it took us that long. my father followed the coast almost the entire way and we entered the border at metkovic. the next we went around medugorje with my cousins who live in jersey (the were visitign their relatives in posusje) and then the next we had lunch with my uncle's family in posusje and we made our way back from there. the next day was velika gospa and my parents wanted to avoid the crowds there so we didn't have time to visit anywhere else but on the way back we went a different way (more inland. it took us 8 hours).
have you ever been to krk?
nope we usually just stay in hercegovina, but i have been to tucepi, zadar, split, zagreb, rijeka, vukovar, and dubrovnik but not krk but it is beautiful
do you think dinamo will do good in the champions league?
crofan718
07-22-2006, 11:33 PM
sorry don't watch much european soccer. i can't find anywhere i can watch in new york except the fox sports channel but they never show croatian teams so i've never seen any of them play.
by the way, i kind of tend to stay on krk too but we always go to rijeka alteast once to shop and stuff like that. we alwys stay for a month. the beginning of our trip (about a week) is spent saying hello to family and friends. the last week is always spent saying good bye and in between we try to go to places that we've never been to before but father always likes staying on krk. my cousins are lucky though. their forced to leave krk and go to other places like posusje and alot of places in dalmatia and zagreb too. my uncle used to be the president of the kardinal stepinac croatian cultural in new york so they had a kolo tour throughout croatia and hercegovina so they've been to alot of places.
do you think dinamo is goign to do good?
dinamo just keeps getting better and better and after signing nowotny i think they will do great

Centarfor9
07-24-2006, 06:04 AM
I think that Lee Harvey Oswald killed president JFK. Although there are a lot of conspiracy theories about it.
Do you think that there was a second assasin who shot at president JFK?
crofan718
07-24-2006, 06:42 AM
i don't think so. i usually don't believe many of the conspiracy no matter how much they make sense. there are exceptions of course! since we're on this topic, i heard something interesting on a political radio show during the 2004 presidential campaign. someone called in and said that a catholic democrat from massachusetts (kerry) could never ever win an election again but if he did and if he went down south, they would kill him just like they did JFK since he also was a catholic deomcrat from masschusetts. plus kerry had the same initials: JKF. scary, isn't it?
what do you think of conspiracy theories surrounding JFK's death?
Centarfor9
07-24-2006, 08:16 AM
They are all bogus and they stem from:
(1) Weak local police force in Huston. They didn’t secure the site and Oswald was shot by Ruby, a guy who owned striptease bar in Huston. Police there had treated the case as a normal case when in fact that case was much different since it involved a president of USA.
(2) Warren Commission that was in charge of the investigation itself. They called for any theory to be presented and every angle explored so people forged everything to fit their explanations and motives.
However they have later confirmed that Oswald was a lone assassin and that evidence was such that if Oswald faced trail he would easily have been found guilty. They however did not find ultra motives behind the killing other then Oswald’s personal psychological, mental and political issues.
(3) Media (Press, TV and Radio didn’t care about the truth they only wanted to earn money and attract greater audience)
(4) Bogus evidences on behalf conspiracy theorist (all their ‘evidences’ were proven wrong including; bogus testimonies, bogus witnesses etc)
(5) And mainly wishful thinking. How could such a man of low status like Lee Oswald kill such a prominent and promising figure in the USA? People can’t accept that. However it has happen through history MLK Jr. and Abraham Lincoln to name a few. People even deny that Holocaust ever happened.
All of these and other relevant issues have attributed to raise of numerous conspiracy theories that include theories like; multiple shooter, Oswald worked for Soviets and Castro’s people, Oswald was a communist who was paid to do it by Soviets, Ruby Pulitzer was a gang leader who ordered Oswald to kill JFK and then later Ruby had to take out Oswald so he wouldn’t snitch, CIA killed JFK, company producing military weapons ordered the hit, US government did it, JFK’s family member ordered a hit etc.
All of these can dumbfound many however they are false since it was scientifically proven that Lee Harvey Oswald was a sole killer and that he had no other exterior motives. Now people don’t have to prove that conspiracy theories surrounding JFK Assassination are wrong. Conspiracy theorists have to prove that Lee Oswald wasn’t a sole murderer and that he had some exterior motive.
I have researched this topic recently, it’s still fresh in my mind, and I was compelled to explain what I thought about the subject.
Was this answer too long?
Yes very.

do you still remember how it was during the time when Bosnia was part of the SOviet bloc.
Bosnia was a state of the Yugoslavia. And Yugoslavia headed the NAM which means The Non-Aligned Movement. Which included 100 countries.
more on this topic:
The Non-Aligned Movement, or NAM, is an international organization (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_organization) of over 100 states (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/States) which consider themselves not formally aligned with or against any major power bloc (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power_%28international%29) (NATO or Soviet Block). The purpose of the organization as stated in the Havana Declaration of 1979 is to ensure "the national independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity and security of non-aligned countries in their struggle against imperialism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imperialism), colonialism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colonialism), neo-colonialism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neo-colonialism), apartheid (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apartheid), racism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Racism), Zionism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zionism), and all forms of foreign aggression, occupation, domination, interference or hegemony (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hegemony) as well as against great power and bloc politics". NAM focuses on national struggles for independence, the eradication of poverty, economic development and opposing colonialism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colonialism), imperialism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imperialism), and neo-colonialism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neo-colonialism). They represent 55% of the planet's people and nearly two-thirds of the United Nation (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Nation)'s members.
Important members have included India (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/India), Egypt (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Egypt), Yugoslavia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yugoslavia), South Africa (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_Africa), Malaysia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malaysia) and, for a time, the People's Republic of China (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/People%27s_Republic_of_China). Brazil (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brazil) has never been a formal member of the movement, but the country shares many of the aims of NAM and frequently sends observers to NAM summits. While the organization was intended to be as close an alliance as NATO (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NATO) or the Warsaw Pact (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warsaw_Pact), it has little cohesion and many of its members were aligned with one or another of the great powers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_power). For example, Cuba (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cuba) was closely aligned with the former Soviet Union (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soviet_Union) during the Cold War (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cold_War) era. India (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/India) was effectively aligned with the Soviet Union against China (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/China) for many years. The movement fractured from its own internal contradictions when the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Afghanistan) in 1979 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1979). While the client states of the Soviet Union fully supported the invasion, other members (particularly the Muslim states) of the movement found it impossible to do so.
The Non-Aligned Movement has struggled to find relevance since the end of the Cold War. The successor states of Yugoslavia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yugoslavia), a founding member, have expressed little interest in the NAM since the country's break-up, and in 2004 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2004), Malta (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malta) and Cyprus (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyprus), ceased to be a member of the NAM when they joined the European Union (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_Union). Malta and Cyprus now have the status of observer.
The Origin of the Non-Aligned Movement
The term "Non-Alignment" itself was coined by Indian (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/India) Prime Minister (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prime_Minister_of_India) Jawaharlal Nehru (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jawaharlal_Nehru) during his speech in 1954 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. In this speech, Nehru described the five pillars to be used as a guide for Sino-Indian relations (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sino-Indian_relations), which were first put forth by the contemporary Chinese Premier Zhou Enlai (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zhou_Enlai). Called Panchsheel (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panchsheel), these principles would later serve as the basis of the Non-Aligned Movement. The five principles were:
Mutual respect for each other's territorial integrity and sovereignty (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sovereignty)
Mutual non-aggression
Mutual non-interference in domestic affairs
Equality and mutual benefit
Peaceful co-existenceThe origin of the Non-aligned movement can be traced to a conference hosted in Bandung, Indonesia in 1955 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bandung_Conference). The world's "non-aligned" nations declared their desire not to become involved in the East-West ideological confrontation of the Cold War (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cold_War). Bandung marked a significant milestone for the development of NAM as a political movement.
However it was six years later in September of 1961, largely through the initiative of Josip Broz Tito (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Josip_Broz_Tito), then-president of Yugoslavia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socialist_Federal_Republic_of_Yugoslavia), that the first official Non-Aligned Movement Summit was held. As well as Tito and Nehru, the other prominent world leaders instrumental in getting NAM off the ground were Gamal Abdel Nasser (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gamal_Abdel_Nasser) of Egypt and Sukarno (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sukarno) of Indonesia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indonesia).
The movement lost credibility beginning in the late 1960s (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1960) when it was seen by critics to have become dominated by states friendly to the Soviet Union. India began a indigenous nuclear programme effectively abandoning non-alignment immediately after the successful Chinese test of a 22 kiloton nuclear bomb (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/596_%28nuclear_test%29).

Those are your parents and you seem to be more inclined toward Ustasa. However most croats were partisans and they liked communism. After Tito died Croats didn't like being in Yugoslavia since Serbs dominated it.
Tito was a croat anyway.
BTW: I liked TITO's Yugoslavia his picture still hangs in my families home in Bosnia. He saved people from Nazies, Ustasa's (don't be offended), Fashist (Italians) and Chetniks.

Do you like communism? Not for ustasa
Communism was good for Yugoslavian people at that time (WW2).
USA supported Chetniks and Italians and Nazies supported Ustasas. Most bosniaks supported Ustasas while some were with Nazies and others with Chetniks and the ones left were in no man's land (left to mercy). This was similar with Croats.
To add Bosniaks pushed for alliance with Nazies because they thought Nazies would win and wanted to break off from Croat Ustasa State since their rights were miss treated and they didn't hold any important places in Government, media and other enviroments of that state. Ustasas notes and plans were wrongly handed to Nazies where Nazies read and approved bosnian SS Westfalen unit that numbered 20,000 soliders. However this unit was part of the Nazi force and not some independent Bosniak force.
Members of this fighting regiment were at the end of their time given three choices by Nazies death, work death caps, to serve in Croatia as police, to serve in soviet front or battle somwhere in Europe.
When bosniaks have seen what has happen, how they are treated and that Nazies were going to lose they supported Tito.
However Tito stud up to protect all Yugoslav people and started bashing right and left. Most fighting was done in Bosnia. More bosnians started joining Tito and the same was with Croats and Serbs. Soviets supported Tito, however later he didn't join their block. Tito was able to get suppot of everybody at the end end defeat different types of opressors.
After the war he was a national hero and people loved him. He helped everybody. And everything was good untill his death.
However sometimes inoccent people were accused of being anti-state and were executed or imprisoned for false reasons.
Communism wasn't perfect but Yugoslavia made it work untill Serb, Croat, Slovene, Bosniak, and Macedon nationalist arose. I liked Tito's Yugoslavia that's all I have to say.

Is BiH Group better than CRO's group?
its harder to qualify in bosnia's group because 3-4 teams have equal talent and it will be tough.... so i think their group is harder because croatia's group has 2 clear favorites while your's doesnt
which do you think is harder?
