some riddles

Here are some riddles. I have more but these are the only ones that come to mind at the moment.

1.) A man rode into town on Friday, stayed there for 3 days and then rode back on Friday. How is that possible?

2.) What can you put in a barrel that will make it lighter? (as in it's weight)

3.) A brother and sister are in the living room reading quietly at night when all of a sudden the lights go out from the thunderstorm outside. The brother decides to go to bed, but his sister remains awake and reading, using no artificial light source or candle light. How is this possible?

4.) A man walks into a bathroom and shoots himself in the face 3 times with a .45 calibre pistol. He then walks out of the bathroom, with no wounds on him. How is that possible?

Some of these may be repeats. I am sorry if they are. I am not very active in this forum so I'm not sure if any of these have ever been posted before. When I think of more I'll be sure to post them.

you got them all right, except for #2. Technically that would work, but it's not the answer that I'm looking for.

That is easy. It is day, or if it is night the car has an automatic system of detecting objects and stop :D.
