Well, for what I've read in other threads I guess most of us agree that Mexico deserved that defeat in Columbus last Saturday, but few or even nothing has been written about the dark side of that match, and the even darker side in the recent history in games between the US and Mexico.

Do you remember the previous event in the game before the US shot that free kick that finished in the first american goal?

Let me refresh your memory, the american player tried to surprise the mexican defense with a classic "madruguete", instead of that he ended up smashing the ball in Ramoncito Morales, the referee, in a stupid call asked to repeat the free kick and booked Ramoncito, why he asked to repeat the free kick?, after all, he didn't made the signal to wait for the barrier, the american player was the one that kicked the ball and if the play didn't turned how americans wanted it was not a reason to repeat the free kick, if you choose to try to surprise the defense and it doesn't goes the way you want, well too bad, that's the risk you are taking.

In the second free kick you know what happened, but, have you noticed that when Onyewu headed the ball there was a guy in offside?, yes, the name of that guy, Ralston, and yes, he's the one that scored the first goal, taking advantage from an offside position.

But that's not all from Mr. Batres and his group of assistants, in the first half there were three very hard fouls by Frankie Hedjuk, and he wasn't booked even though those fouls were made in a period of 15 minutes. But Batres did book Marquez for only two fouls made in a similar period of time, since the referee let him do what he wanted Hejduk got the nerve to kick Sinha in the left legh with out the ball in play in a foul that was clearly a red card, but Batres didn't even book him.

Is this the case of a bad referee?, maybe, but how curious that all of his mistakes were against Mexico.

Maybe this is just a one game thing, a bad night for the referee?, But if that's the case how come a similar story was written in the 02 WC, or don't remember that clear hand in the area that the referee of the match didn't called, therefore denying Mexico a PK that represented the possible tie at 1.

I don't deny the advance of the US national team, but you can hide that there's something weird going on when Mexicans and Americans face each other in a match that can help the Americans to enrich their football history and therefore help to build a larger fanbase in the US that translate into more $$$$ for the US soccer federation, Concacaf and FIFA.

Conspiracy theory? :)

Whatever the case, all this "drama" does add marketing value. Anyhow, there will always be some sort of underlying theory for each outcome of every match. I can't wait to see this weekend's clasico to find out what all the drama (excuses) will be.

Hmmmm, A little farfetched but not tooooooooo far fetched. Lets face it most concacaf refs (aside for the Mex. refs) have little experience, and poor experience at that, so that could be the case. The American ref from last nights game was pretty good tho and i think he did call things fair.

Hejduk has no business bieng on the national team. He does not know how to play and has no footballing skills. He's a violent player and i really think he should;ve been tossed out of the game along with onyewu.

The games between the US and Mexico are becoming increasingly violent and one of these days someones gonna end their career at one of these games. Actually, I'm really surprised at Marquez. He's losing his cool when he plays the US and i'm sure a lot of it is frustration but theres never really an excuse for dangerous tackles. The US plays like that because thats how the MLS is. It is very rough and not uncommon to see dangerous tackles.
