A few weeks back, and a couple before SWP joined for Chelsea someone I know told me Arsenal had a £17 million bid for him accepted. Of course there was nothing in the papers and clearly he later joined Chelsea, so while this guy who told me is normally extremely reliable I assumed his information was for once wrong.

Anyway today I heard off another guy who is very reliable for behind the scenes stuff that not only did we have this bid accepted but SWP had agreed personal terms too! Apparently he is also a big Arsenal fan and tried to go to Highbury as much as possible with his mum when Man City were not playing and he saw it as a dream move!

So why did he not join us?

Well apparently we can blame none other than Ian Wright! Im not sure if he was acting direct as SWP's agent, or he owns the agency which was acting on SWP's behalf but either way Ian Wright apparently asked for an extortionate agent's fee and told the Arsenal board if he did not get it he would convince his son to sign for Chelsea! I had heard this rumour before as well from others and assumed it was rubbish, someone even suggested it was as much as FIVE MILLION POUNDS he wanted!

The Arsenal board flatly rejected it and Man City obviously managed to wriggle an extra £4 million out of Chelsea for SWP if this is true.

Clearly I do not know if this true 100% but honestly, the people I have heard this off are normally VERY reliable and I would not post it unless I honestly thought that they were at least acting in good faith by telling people.

Of course if people want to think this is bollocks thats fine, of course it could be, but if it is true I think Ian Wright can forget about being an Arsenal legend, for all his goals for us.

Still on the plus side at least Chelsea got fleeced again maybe! ;)

To be honest I very much doubt it's true.
Wright would never do that to Arsenal

I find that hard to believe that Wright would do that to Arsenal to be honest with you.Although saying that soccer is full of greedy bloodsuckers aka soccer agents and players. These people are in my opinion SCUM :worried:

I also can't see Wright doing that to Arsenal.

I find it unlikely and tough to believe that Arsenal would make a successful bid for a major player like SWP without it being reported, let alone something like this happening. Besides which, the club still has a strong relationship with Wright.

I find it slightly sad he went to Stamford Brdge with Shaun when he signed for Chelski.

You have to remember that SWP is Ian Wright's son.

You can imagine he only wants the best for his son, and if that means a few million extra then so be it.
