HOLLAND – After recent reports that he was seeking a move away from Feyenoord, 2002 AFC Player of the Year Shinji Ono has announced that he is more than happy to stay with the Dutch giants.
Europe’s transfer window closed on Wednesday and, despite a late bid from English Premiership side Bolton Wanderers, the Japan international is now keen to point out that he sees a future for himself with the 2002 UEFA Cup winners.
“I’m now totally focussed on Feyenoord again,” Ono told the club’s official website.
“There is just one thing that is important now and that is becoming champions with this club,” added the dynamic midfielder.
Ono, a Feyenoord player since 2001, has only just returned to Holland after recuperating from an operation on his right metatarsal. Despite his recovery from the injury being, at times, a slow and painful process, the 25-year-old has also revealed that he is more than happy with the progress he is making.
“It is going really well and the doctor will be examining me once more this week,” explained Ono.
“I will obviously have to get some rhythm and fitness but I am really looking forward to just playing football again.”
News of Ono’s change of heart will come as a huge relief to Feyenoord boss Erwin Koeman who in the days leading up to the new Eredivisie season announced that the former Urawa Red Diamonds favourite was still a key figure in his plans.
damn.....:Pout:
well maybe next season
