Last season Chelsea bought the premiership well not this year because United are going to fight back and win it again.

yeah Man U is really determined this year...just look at their games, and how eager they are to win.

but chelsea is getting better too. there first game against wigan and arse were kinda clumisy, but they are speedily returning.

chelsea is rumoured to have internal problems with carvahlo and robben.

but we shall see, the gap will be small this time.

The thing that gives us United fans hope is the fact that this is the best start for Sir Alex ever, and the second best start in United history (aside from the 85/86 season). He has made it 5 matches without conceding a goal.

I've heard the "Chelsea bought the title" arguement so many times, but I just can't buy it. The idea that "bought" the title is based on the fact that they purchased players who helped them win, correct? But isn't buying players a key part of the sport? Isn't it how almost every club builds their squad anymore? I realize that developing your own youth might be preferrable in many ways, but how many clubs are really successful at doing that? Look at the squads of clubs like Arsenal, Barcelona, Milan, Juventus, Real Madrid, Inter, FC Bayern, Liverpool... how many home-grown players do they really have anymore? Even Manchester United, when you look outside their Class of '92, no longer have many. So isn't Chelsea buying players for their squad the exact same thing that every other club does?

The difference for Chelsea, then, must be how much they spend on players. But isn't that really just a matter of resources? If you have the money to spend, why wouldn't you buy the best possible? Does it really make sense to be frugal and end up with a lesser squad when you can easily afford better? Is that really respectable? And it isn't as if Chelsea are the only club out there with major resources. Look at Real Madrid's spending power. Or Barcelona. Or Inter. Or even Manchester United, who spend near to 30m pounds on each Wayne Rooney, Rio Ferdinand, and Juan Sebastian Veron in the past few years, plus 8m for Ronaldo, 13m for Louis Saha, 19m for Van Nistelrooy, 6m for Alan Smith... Not exactly small spending and frugal either.

So what does Chelsea do differently than every other club? They do the same thing - buy players - just spending more and and in a short time period. And don't forget that possibly their most important player - John Terry - is a Chelsea product. And a couple of the other key players - Frank Lampard, Eidur Gudjohnsen - pre-date the Abramovich era.

But simply having the players doesn't automatically equal titles, not in a league as competative as the EPL. No, it takes leadership, management, tactics, and determination. Chelsea displayed all of those last season (and again this season for that matter). Jose Mourinho managed to use all of that talent he has on hand very effectively.

I agree with some of the stuff you said there and I do find it kinda amazing that they could all mesh together so quickly.

I understand the frustration from supporters of other clubs (myself included) to see this happen. To see a club come in with pretty much limitless resources and do this can feel like they cheated and didn't deserve it. It just feels unfair. But the reality is that Chelsea did not cheat (aside from the Ashley Cole thing) nor did they do anything completely different from every other club.
