Juventus boss Fabio Capello is failing to dismiss the strength of any of his club’s Champions League group phase rivals.
The Bianconeri are looking good to qualify in the top two spots after being drawn in Group A with Bayern Munich, Club Brugge and Rapid Vienna.
"It will be a group in which we must work hard and be very alert," Capello cautiously commented.
"We know Bayern very well as we already faced them last year. Brugge will be a hostile and well-organised opponent.
"We are a little less informed on Rapid but they are undoubtedly a side of quality as they have just knocked out Lokomotiv Moscow."
However, Vice-president Roberto Bettega believes top spot will go to either his own club or Bayern.
"Both of us need to collect maximum points against Rapid and Brugge, because it certainly won’t be easy to beat the Germans," said the club legend.
"We faced them last year and only won in Bavaria thanks to some great saves from Gigi Buffon."
Bettega then admitted that triumphing in Europe was his side’s main priority this season.
"We are aiming to win it as always," he stated. "I would say that 90 per cent of our fans want this trophy and we hope to fulfil their request.
"It will be tough however, as we saw last year when making a mess of just one half of a game can prove decisive."
Meanwhile, Juventus will be without Alessandro Birindelli for the next six months because of injury.
The right-back underwent knee ligament surgery today following the damage he sustained against Benfica on August 6.

Will do. Its strange how we have Bayern again...they have had a few departures but they play a very attractive brand of attacking football and havent been beaten. Theyll be a good test. Brugge have some attacking talent but they should be no problem, Rapid sprung a surprise to even get here so i think they wont be too difficult.

yep bayern will be a tough one to beat. last season we won both games and i think we deserved them. this year however, i have a feeling its gonna be a bit harder to take them down. nonetheless i believe we can achieve a 1st place finish in our group

Alessandro Del Piero has recovered from injury to be included in the Juventus squad for their Champions League clash against Brugge.
The captain was a major doubt for the game but has fought back from a thigh problem to be included in the trip.
Del Piero, who suffered a small strain on international duty last week, could now make his season debut in Belgium on Wednesday.
The Italian ace didn’t feature in the Week 1 win over Chievo, while he was unavailable for Sunday’s 4-0 destruction of Empoli.
Capello, who today insisted that all his strikers would play a part in his plans this term, has named a 20-man squad for the game.
Goalkeeper Gigi Buffon, following shoulder surgery, and defender Gianluca Pagliuca are the only significant absentees.
Squad: Abbiati, Chimenti; Gladstone, Cannavaro, Balzaretti, Zambrotta, Chiellini, Kovac; Blasi, Giannichedda, Olivera, Camoranesi, Vieira, Emerson, Nedved, Ibrahimovic, Del Piero, Trezeguet, Mutu, Zalayeta.

Pavel Nedved is confident that he will one day win the Champions League – even if he admits time is running out.
Juventus start their latest European Cup campaign in Brugge on Wednesday, with the Czech ace as eager as ever to lift the prestigious trophy.
"I want the Champions League and we will do everything in our power to win it," stated the former European Footballer of the Year. "This is one of my last chances to do so."
Nedved was robbed of European glory in 2003 when he was suspended for the defeat to Milan, after playing such an instrumental role in reaching the Old Trafford Final.
Now he’s ready for another crack at the competition, starting with tomorrow night’s trip to Brugge.
"It is always tough to win in Belgium but Juventus should not fear anyone," the midfielder warned.
"Last season we were defeated by the winners as Liverpool were better than us. Nevertheless, we only messed up 20 minutes in the Champions League last term."
Juventus are one of the favourites to lift the Cup but Nedved has conceded that they will have to beat some top class sides.
"Who are my favourites? Chelsea, Milan, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Manchester United, even if we will also be there," he added.
"We are prepared to start again in the knowledge that we are a better side than last year, much stronger and more competitive."
Wednesday’s game could also see French international David Trezeguet net his 100th goal for the Bianconeri. "I’m sure he’ll score 100 more," concluded Nedved.

Fabio Capello has told his Juventus side that it is fundamental to start their Champions League campaign with a win at Brugge.
The Bianconeri begin their European Cup assault in Belgium on Wednesday and Capello is immediately eyeing the three points.
"The first game in any competition is always full of difficulties," commented the former Roma boss.
"It is vital that we start the tournament well as it would already be a big step forward if we win."
The Italian side will begin as favourites this evening but the tactician has respect for their opponents.
"They are an organised team like all Belgian sides," he underlined. "They will be tough to play against. We need to be very focused and alert.
"Brugge are very powerful in the air because they have some tall players and men with good technique. We need to step on to the pitch with humility."
The Juventus defence will also come up against a familiar face in the form of former Fiorentina striker Javier Portillo.
"He was dangerous and very able in the penalty area when he was at Real Madrid," noted Capello.
Juventus are without Gigi Buffon, Lilian Thuram, Jonathan Zebina and also Gianluca Pessotto.
So who will play at right-back? "Federico Balzaretti or even Manuele Blasi could be put there," he explained.
"We do have a number of injury problems but my squad this season is complete and able to cope with diverse absences."
Brugges (probable): Stijnen; De Cock, Spilar, Maertens, Valgaeren; Vermant, Englebert, Serebrennikov, Blondel; Portillo, Balaban.
Juventus (probable): Abbiati; Balzaretti, Kovac, Cannavaro, Zambrotta; Camoranesi, Vieira, Emerson, Nedved; Trezeguet, Ibrahimovic.

Alex Del Piero insists he is no reserve player at Juventus despite his limited use so far this season.
The forward has only appeared in two of the club’s six official games and could again be ignored for tonight’s clash against Rapid Vienna.
But the Italian, who is the club captain, maintains that he's still a key figure at the Stadio Delle Alpi.
"I don’t feel like a reserve," he said. "I’m still aiming to play from the start against Rapid, as well as against Inter on Sunday.
"I train during the week as if I already know that I will be selected for games," added the No 10.
Del Piero scored twice in the Week 3 win over Ascoli, as well as setting up Patrick Vieira’s winner at Udinese.
Yet he was again dropped for the trip to Parma on Sunday and Capello is expected to field a strike force of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and David Trezeguet on Tuesday.
However, if Capello does given Alex a chance then the international will make his 100th appearance in the Champions League this evening.
"I’m not interested in numbers, the important thing for me is to play," continued the former Padova youngster.
"After all, Rapid bring me luck seeing as I already scored past them 10 years ago. Tonight’s game is important and I’m ready for anything."

hey guys...i am subscribed to UEFA.com where i can see all the matches (like 2 hours after they have been played and/or highlights (extended or goals).
I saw the Juventus highlights, and oh boy...i seriously don't think there is a team like Juve now. Ibrahimovic is scary!! He is so dangerous and does us so much work (though for him is nothing) that i don't think there is one single player that can challenge this guy. He is by far the strongest player in the world, and has amazing technique for his size.
Del Piero from what i saw also played very well. There was this flick that nedved did (parabola...out of nowhere...kinda like hagi of romania) and delpiero firsttimed it from the air with a powerful left shot. I have no idea how the keeper cought it. I can say it was luck. Other than that...ibra, camoranesi all had chances.
I reccomend subsribing for the UEFA thingy its only like 5 dollars a month.

Fabio Capello has given Zlatan Ibrahimovic a clip round the ear for his “egotistical” behaviour in the win over Rapid Vienna.
“We could’ve closed this game in the first half, but were too complacent and this isn’t the way we wanted to play,” said the Coach after the 3-0 victory. “It was tense until Adrian Mutu’s goal and we were thankful for Christian Abbiati’s saves.”
David Trezeguet’s early goal gave them a slender lead until Mutu and Ibrahimovic netted late strikes to ease the pressure.
“We created the scoring opportunities, but couldn’t convert them, and in football when you give your opponents a look in it’ll cost you,” added Capello. “Ibrahimovic made two mistakes tonight and we will discuss it later, as he was too egotistical.”
The Swede has often been accused of hogging the ball and he twice refused to pass the ball to a team-mate in a better scoring position.
“I really didn’t appreciate when we went on the counter-attack with three against two and Alessandro Del Piero unmarked, but instead of passing it he tried to hold on and eventually lost the ball.”
With Mutu and Ibrahimovic also breaking their ducks tonight, Capello has a tough choice to make for Sunday’s top of the Serie A table showdown with Inter.
“I am happy to have this ‘problem’ of having to choose between a wealth of talent at my disposal. Every game is an individual moment in time and a team can play like giants or minnows. Playing every three days is tough, but getting this victory today was positive and gives us the confidence to prepare for the next test.”
Mutu scored his debut goal in a Bianconeri jersey and, above all, his first since failing a drugs test and seeing his contract terminated by Chelsea.
“The negative period of my career has been closed for a long time in my eyes, but this goal is very important for my confidence and came at a crucial moment of the game,” said the Romanian.
“I don’t mind playing a bit wide, as if the Coach prefers me to take that role then I’ll put my qualities to the service of the team.”

No he's just young and in awe of his talent. He often holds onto the ball just a tad too long before giving off a pass. If he would learn to time his passing better, he could be getting more assists than goals simply because he draws so much attention to himself because of his skill, leaving his teammates more open.
Capello is the right coach for him and will mold that into him. Sweden can thank Capello later :)
Capello: “Tomorrow we shall talk about these situations with Ibrahimovic: we were three against two, there were Del Piero and Mutu free, but he did not serve them." :nono:

Alessandro Del Piero says he is honoured to have played in his 100th European game for Juventus last night.
The club captain came on as a second half substitute against Rapid Vienna on Tuesday to celebrate his century for the Bianconeri.
"I’m proud to have become the first Juventus player in history to reach 100 in European competition," he told his official website.
"This is obviously a great honour, something of great satisfaction and a number which signifies a lot for me."
The Old Lady collected a 3-0 victory at the Delle Alpi thanks to goals from David Trezeguet, Adrian Mutu and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
"It was our third game in six days and we were a little tired," added the 1993 signing from Padova.
"We increased our tempo in the second period and the two late goals ensured us the three points.
"It was an excellent result seeing as it was our seventh from seven games since the start of the season in Serie A and the Champions League."

Juventus boss Fabio Capello has admitted that he’d rather win the Champions League than the Scudetto this term.
Having netted the Italian title at his first attempt last season, the tactician now wants to return to winning ways in Europe.
"Like most fans, I’m saying the Champions League," Capello told Radio Repubblica on Wednesday afternoon.
"It is almost like trying to choose between a good vanilla ice cream and a good chocolate ice cream, but I would personally prefer the European Cup."
However, the Bianconeri have made a marvellous start to the defence of their Scudetto crown with six wins out of six.
"Perhaps people will talk about this present Juventus side in a few years even if there is great competition this season," he added.
"Looking at the statistics though, the best team that I have bossed is the Milan side which broke all those records."
Nevertheless, the Old Lady are certainly a force this year thanks to their star-studded squad.
"We have Zlatan Ibrahimovic who has matured," added the boss. "He is a young player with great quality, but can still improve.
"Our midfield now contains Patrick Vieira, one of the best players in the world.
"We have Christian Abbiati in goal while we wait for Gigi Buffon. Abbiati is someone we can count on and a player who could return to the international fold."
Capello was also quick to praise his centre-back pairing of Fabio Cannavaro and Lilian Thuram.
"They do have a certain age now but you only have to think about the Milan pair of Paolo Maldini and Billy Costacurta. We just need to hope that we don’t suffer any injuries."

Juventus will travel to Munich without Patrick Vieira and Jonathan Zebina for Tuesday’s Champions League showdown.
The joint Group A leaders will face off in Germany and at least one of them must lose their 100 per cent record in the European tournament.
Vieira also missed out on yesterday’s 1-0 Serie A win over Messina, as he suffered a muscular injury in his right thigh during international duty with France.
The Juventus official website announced today that the former Arsenal midfielder would resume full training with the rest of the squad in a few days.
Fellow Frenchman Zebina is also sidelined by injury, so Manuele Blasi and Giuliano Giannichedda will challenge to fill in Vieira’s midfield role alongside Emerson.
Alessandro Del Piero is expected to start alongside Zlatan Ibrahimovic after scoring a splendid solo effort against Messina on Saturday evening.
“My new starting position is a little deeper and that effectively helps my style of play,” said the Italian international. “A good performance gives you even more motivation to keep going and these two games with Italy and Juve have really boosted my enthusiasm.”
Juventus squad: Chiellini, Kovac, Pessotto, Emerson, Ibrahimovic, Del Piero, Nedved, Chimenti, Balzaretti, Camoranesi, Trezeguet, Mutu, Zambrotta, Blasi, Thuram, Bonnefoi, Giannichedda, Zalayeta, Gladstone, Cannavaro, Abbiati

Lilian Thuram has dismissed the ill-feeling dominating the build-up to Juventus’ visit to Roma on Saturday.
With the temperature already rising fully four days ahead of the visit of Fabio Capello’s men to the Eternal City, Thuram claims to be unaffected by the back-biting emanating from the Roma camp.
"We are a big side," said Thuram. "We manage to keep our concentration on the pitch, as big sides should do."
Thuram’s subtle dig at Roma, whose occasional indiscipline tends to manifest itself during high-pressure matches - such as the away game at Inter last month which saw Francesco Totti sent off for ungentlemanly conduct - may be designed to infuriate the Giallorossi still further.
"We don’t need controversy," added the France defender. "Roma can do what they want but we are concentrating on the Scudetto."
Totti openly criticised Capello and former Roma teammate Emerson in an interview recently, making no secret of his disdain for either, and his comments are sure to ramp up an already-excitable home crowd when the two return to the Stadio Olimpico this weekend.
"The match will be difficult because they have players like Totti and Antonio Cassano," said the Juve full-back. "Let’s just hope they respect the rules of the game and that they don’t adopt a bad attitude which can affect the crowd."
Roma are in a rich vein of form at present and could do without losing their focus themselves. Luciano Spalletti’s men have won three games on the spin and Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi knows they could really turn their season around by beating the Italian champions.
"It is never a normal match against Juventus," said De Rossi on Tuesday. "But we could do with a fourth win.
"We will have to play well and not be affected by the two-week break. We want to perform well especially as it went pretty poorly last year."
Last year Juve won both meetings between the two sides, but De Rossi is confident that this time it will be a different story.
Indeed he feels that, despite Totti’s bad Press, his captain will rise to the occasion after scoring five goals in 10 appearances already this season.
"Now that he has become a father he will be a lot calmer," he added. "He’s already having a fantastic season."

Alessandro Del Piero is set to start in Juve’s Champions League match against Club Brugge on Tuesday night.
No longer guaranteed a first-team place under Fabio Capello, Del Piero has nevertheless been given the go ahead to face the Belgians - in their Group A match at the Stadio Delle Alpi - due to the suspension of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
"Del Piero will play," confirmed Juventus Coach Fabio Capello. "Del Piero, David Trezeguet, Pavel Nedved and Mauro Camoranesi will represent our attacking players."
It is rare that Capello is so open about his side before a big match, but perhaps the convincing win over Roma has restored his confidence.
Del Piero, meanwhile, is ready to take on a Brugge side that has greatly improved in the Belgian League since the two sides met on the opening day of the tournament group stages.
"It will be a hard game," he said. "We are up against a side that hopefully won’t play as well as they have got used to playing recently because, as always, we want to win. It is important for us to make the most of home advantage."
Respectful as ever, the captain is not one to make brash statements. In fact, according to the 31-year-old, this is one of the secrets to Juve’s success.
"We fear no-one but we always have the greatest respect," added the Italy icon.
"When we keep both of these two factors in mind we have much more chance of winning than if we only think about one of them."
Roma should take note. All of the hot air that emanated from Giallorossi headquarters ahead of their match with the Turin giants came to nothing and they were left suitably humiliated.
Del Piero insists that, just as his teammates avoided becoming embroiled in a war of words with Roma’s outspoken players, so it would be equally unbecoming of his side to boast about their decisive win.
"Winning in Rome was great regardless of what was said in the build-up," he revealed.
"If anything, what was said beforehand ensured that we kept playing at 100 per cent and working really hard right up until the final whistle."
Del Piero for Ibrahimovic is the only team change from the side that won 4-1 on Saturday, as Capello goes all out for the win that would guarantee the Bianconeri a place in the last 16.
A draw would even be enough for Juventus to progress to the next stage, while for Brugge, who are already guaranteed a UEFA Cup place, a share of the spoils would leave them hoping that SK Wien upset the odds to beat Bayern Munich

Juventus 1 - 0 Club Brugge
Del Piero 80 (J)
Stadio Delle Alpi
It took a late Alessandro Del Piero header to see off a dogged Club Brugge and qualify Juve for the knockout round.
The Bianconeri were without the suspended Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who was sent off in the 2-1 win over Bayern Munich, so Alessandro Del Piero returned to the starting 11. Just one point would be enough to automatically qualify them for the knockout round. Club Brugge fielded former Fiorentina and Real Madrid striker Javier Portillo upfront.
David Trezeguet couldn't make the most of a Maertens defensive error within the opening four minutes, then Pavel Nedved's left-foot drive skimmed the upright.
Del Piero nodded a Mauro Camoranesi free kick off target, while at the other end Brugge thought the captain had handled a Dufer header. Replays show the ball only struck his leg and it was not a penalty.
Trezeguet almost pounced on a wayward pass from goalkeeper Butina, but despite dominating possession, Juve struggled to create scoring opportunities.
The Bianconeri were unlucky not to break through on the half-hour mark when Gianluca Zambrotta was one-on-one with the goalkeeper, but he was stopped by an incorrect offside flag.
Moments later, Del Piero and Camoranesi couldn't take full advantage of a defensive error, while Leko's long-range effort was well wide.
Juve went very close to an opener on 37 minutes, as Giorgio Chiellini's cross reached Trezeguet, but his header was stopped short by the upright.
On the stroke of half-time, a powerful Fabio Cannavaro right-foot strike was well saved by Butina.
Patrick Vieira drilled wide after the restart and Del Piero volleyed a Zambrotta cross inches past the upright as the Bianconeri began to pile on the pressure in search of an opener.
But Brugge hung on and re-organised, even forcing Cannavaro into a tricky intervention to keep out Verheyen's header on a Gvozdenovic cross.
Nedved had gone close with a fierce left-foot drive in the first half and repeated the trick with his right, giving Butina quite a scare.
Del Piero hooked down a Camoranesi pass and forced a save out of the Club Brugge goalkeeper, but the deadlock was eventually broken 10 minutes from time.
Nedved floated in a cross from the right and Del Piero got away from his marker to nod in at the back post. A draw would've been enough to qualify the Bianconeri, but this winner put them through in style.
Substitute Marcelo Zalayeta should've made it 2-0 in stoppages, but somehow wasted Nedved's assist with only the goalkeeper to beat.

Real Madrid - Arsenal
Bayern M. - Milan
PSV - Olympique Lyon

Just wondering, what did everyone think of what Liverpool did towards Juve last season concerning the Heysel disaster? I didn't think much of the fans that turned their backs on the message.

juventus has one tough match on tuesday vs werder bremen. i hope to see Del Piero start and if he does i hope he plays like he did against germany cause if he does i believe werder bremen will have a bad day. this is the most important game of the season so far and its a must win. Forza Juve

It was Ibrahimovic's and Medved's fault for Juve not going through.
