Roma-Cassano Meeting Soon
7/26/2005 8:02:00 AM
The Giallorossi want to offer a new contract to the young talent.
Roma have not given up hope yet on renewing Antonio Cassano’s contract as they are desperately trying to hold on to ‘Peter Pan’ instead of losing him next year on a free transfer.
The club has therefore decided to meet the player’s agent, Giuseppe Bozzo, and offer a 5-year deal at 4 million Euros per year. Cassano will most likely refuse the offer as other clubs can offer him a higher salary.
A lot also depends on the player’s willingness to stay in Rome, which after the incidents with the Giallorossi fans in this early part of the pre-season, the chances of Cassano remaining in the Capital city remain very bleak.
*my comments*: Can Juve still get him, do they still want him?

We have held onto Trez so not at this stage. Ask again at the halfway stage of the season. If Trez is injured and Mutu not performing like i think he will, then yes we should go for him.

i agree, i think a mid-season change might be best depending on how our current strikers perform. as much as it pains me to say it he will be the perfect replacement for del piero if he doesnt perform well this season. anyways cassano would be perfect for the future so i think we should get him no matter what even if its next season

I understand it was supposed to be Miccoli, since he is adamant that he does not want to play for Juve? Not sure though.

Ya, I say do it...Cassano and Ibra would be the future, with Miccoli a good supporting player.

Hmmm but Trez is proven, Cassano still isnt really. Id want cash aswell for Trez to leave us.

Depends. I think Cassano has proven his worth to me by virtue of his last two seasons in Serie A. I think with a more solid team like Juve he could really shine, and I like his communication with Totti - they read each other well. I wonder if the same can be reproduced with Del Piero at Juve? Trez is proven, but his position will likely be wrapped up this or next season by Ibrahimovic just as soon as he gets a bit more adept at knowing when to pass the ball and when to hold it. He's getting better and more technically astute that way.
I'd like to see Cassano at a bigger club, just as I've always wanted to see Totti go to a bigger club, but I think he'll be a Romanista forever...shame cuz they ain't gonna win anything anytime soon...should sell Totti now that they can get some good cash for him...ditto Cassano.

...........Miccoli hates Juventus why would he want to stay and be a supporting player. AND roma doesnt want trez and it would be stupid of Juventus to give up trez becuase their only other good striker is Ibra and him and cassano i could not see working well together at all...seeing how both are very kiddish and like to bitch about everything

Repair damages done when Miccoli was at the club (ie; the relationship between them), and it could work.
