well as we all know the site has been down for some time and over that time the US has played a total of 3 matches 2 WC QUALY, matches and one friendly match . in the 1st match the US played to what in my opinion was a dull scoreless draw against Costa Rica neither team really got many good chances but i will add that Josh Wolf came off the bench and created some dangerous chances and scored but had his goal called off he played very well and was unlucky besides that there was really nothing to point out. Next came a friendly against mexico in a pro mexican crown in Los Angeles neither team had any of there stars but both teams brought very young players the US had 7 players recieve there 1st cap and up stepped 18 year old American prodigy Landon Donovan who came on as a sub for and injuried chri klein i believe. anyway Landon played a very good match proving himself to coach arena he scored the 1st goal and setup the 2nd goal as the US won 2-0 Landon's performance earned him a call up to the WC QUALY match against barabdos but he did not play. Next came the do or die match against Barbados and for the 1st 60 minutes the US basically survived some very close calls while creating some fairly good chances then came an awesome individual run my everton striker joe max moore that set up clinth mathis for a tap in goal a few minute later earnie stewart struck a roclet into the upper left corner from about 20 - 25 yards out followed by a cobi jones and ante razov goal the field was in terrible condition and having 3 or 4 passes in succession was non existabt for either side really but the US took advantage and played a solid match in less than solid conditions in the process the US ended up winning the match 4-0 and the group getting them one step closser to the 2002 World Cup . The US will face Mexico in the 1st round of the semifinal round on Febuary 27th i believe at columbus stadioum
