To be played in a series of two games, the first one to be played in CU and the second in the Azteca. The first match is this 23rd of july and the second game in a weak or so.
The CHAMP OF APERTURA 2004 PUMAS would face the champ of clausura 2005 america, all the Pumas v. America are fun but this one specially since there's a title involved.
The only down side of this series is that it would take both teams comming from the presason and out of rythm, but that doesn't take out the passion generated around this matches.

Yea the winner is called the "Campeon de campeones", and no is nothing new it was played many years a go between the winner of the league and the winner of the cup, but ever since the Mexican Cup disapeared this title disapeared too. But just a few years a go the FMF resusitated this tournament to get a winner between the Apertura Champ and the Clausura Champ.
I don't think that the title is exciting because the teams come from the preseason and are out of rythm, but since the Pumas are playing America, there's a different hype around the title this time.

I was actually in the stadium ( :smoking: ) it was very entertaining, more for what you live in la barra chanting and everything that for the match itself, as usual not many gashinas showed up in CU so the crowd was about 90% Pumas and 10% Gashinas.
In the actual match the first 45 minutes were all for Pumas, they actually scored at the minute 2, but the referee called an offside, which I'm not sure if it really happened.
In the second half America did a couple of changes and started to make the game even, Pumas attacked and created dangerous situations all over the game, but they failed to concrete any, America created some danger in the second half but Dario Veron gave a great performance and stoped Reinaldo Navia who was the most dangerous player of America even though he didn't start the match.
By the end of the match the things heated up when Cuauhtemoc punched Gerardo Galindo of Pumas in the nuts ( :faint2: ) and the referee only booked him but he deserved a red card for sure, then El Piojo Lopez kicked a player of Pumas without disputing the ball and once again the referee lacked the nerve to sent him off, of course the players of Pumas reacted but not with violence.
The teams fielded like this:
Pumas;
---------------Bernal---------------
-------Beltrán---------Verón--------
--Castro--------------------Pineda--
------Galindo-----Leandro-----------
--Lopez--------------------Ailton----
-------Marioni------DeNigris---------
America;
--------------Ochoa----------------
--------Rojas-------Davino----------
--Salinas-------------------Castro---
----Irenio----Villa-------O.Rojas------
-----------Cuauhtemoc--------------
-------Kleber-----------Lopez--------
In the second half Pumas changed Ailton for Iñiguez, DeNigris for Cardetti and Castro for Toledo.
America changed Salinas for Alvin Mendoza, Irenio for Francisco Torres and Kleber for Navia.
So it all comes up to the second match in El Azteca.
didn't they go to penalties b/c they were tied 0-0 after the extra time? i heard that when one team scored the other missed and then when that team missed the other scored. so who won? did they stay tied?
oh sorry i just realized that was U.S. versus Panama
